  • Anyika She Is Beautiful
    Couache on Paper
    Size: 14 x 10
Anyika She Is Beautiful honors the strength and grace of Gullah women—descendants of African slaves who created a rich, enduring culture on the sea islands of South Carolina and Georgia. Painted in gouache on paper, Anyika’s calm, radiant presence embodies the resilience of a people who have preserved their language, art, and traditions through generations. The name Anyika means “she who brings brightness.” She stands as a beacon, not only for the Gullah community but for all of us—reminding us to hold our own cultures close and to honor those who came before us. Through layered strokes and quiet reverence, I offer this painting as a tribute to women who light the way with strength, wisdom, and unwavering love for their heritage. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Late Afternoon Shadows in the Park
digital photography: digitally enhanced on paper
    Size: 10.25 x 15.37
This is a rather moody photograph of someplace I often go for a walk. The late afternoon light on the oak trees and the shadows on the road were worth capturing. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Bronze Bas Relief #3
    bronze bas relief with crystals
    Size: 13 x 9
Recently moving my 3D clay portrait busts from Boston to my new home in Savannah was challenging. Upon arrival, I tried my hand at bas reliefs yet several broke for various reasons. Frustrated, I decided to cast my pieces in bronze - using the lost wax process. Carved directly in wax then cast in bronze, this piece is one-of-a-kind. It is unique and cannot be duplicated. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • The InBetween Times

  • Study for Stress Series 19
Charcoal, watercolor, ink, graphite on paper
    Size: 18 x 18
For many women, a hectic life results in being overcommitted and overwhelmed. The Stress, Pit, and Covid Series drawings reflect upon this common-place tension. Small studies are drawn before the time-consuming larger works are started. Studies, from 30 x30 inches such as the one entered, to many only a few inches in size, are used to confirm the composition of drawings or to clarify implied messages in sculptural projects. These preparatory efforts also gauge my interest in pursuing a similar image in a much larger format. Observed in these studies are minuscule close-up details that have interest separate from their practical preliminary studio function. This beginning work assures that the desired implication is evident that visual images can reflect the complexity of emotional states. Paradoxically, for me, working on these drawings causes a “flow experience” that relieves stress. • Boys in the Band
acrylic, graphite and pastel on canvas
    Size: 48 x 32
In my latest series, I choose to represent musicians in a gestural, expressionistic style. I’m mindful of the transitory nature of experiencing live music. Electronic devices may capture an image or recording but never truly replicate the original experience. These pieces seek to invent a new gutteral response to those moments gifted to us by musical artists. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • Shimmer Bloom
    mixed media sculpture
    Size: 24 x 12
I create mixed-media sculptures. Materials play a significant role in my work, using recurring items like yarn, fabric, and flowers. Some pieces have sentimental value, such as my grandmother's old fabric and things I pick up from nature, like wood, flowers, and rocks, that give me fond memories of a place I visited. Also aware of overconsumption, I blend discarded items, like paper and plastic, giving these waste items a new life instead of throwing them away. I toss these items around to see what I can build and make connections with items that usually don't belong together. With all the materials colliding, they start connecting and creating their own environment. My work becomes chaotic and playful, but I see things connecting as a whole. I feel a sense of peacefulness and magic when materials merge. I think of worlds uniting or how I can build a better one. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Interiors #3
    acrylic on canvas painting
    Size: 24 x 24
INTERIORS is a series of eight paintings of oversized and close up views seen from the heart of one Poinciana tree that grows in my front yard. Viewed from within the tree, intense light pours around petals and leaves, reveals delicate lacey patterns, bulging seedpods, and deeply corroded bark. From this intimate perspective, one discovers compositions abstracted by scale and lack of context, different from the tree we thought we knew, a view more often seen by ants and lizards on the Poinciana highway. The parts and pieces, whether recognizable or not, take on a life of their own and become parts of a complex puzzle. The attraction is not in recognizing a named, beautiful thing, but in opening one’s eyes to the incredible richness of natural images framed for the viewer by the artist. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Get Out Of My Way
acrylic & M/M on stretched gallery wrapped canvas
    Size: 30 x 24
INSPIRATION: The inspiration for "GET OUT OF MY WAY" stems from many moments of frustration and determination. It channels raw emotions into a purposeful progression and assertive motion. It is a visual representation of breaking barriers or asserting oneself amidst challenges and conveying a sense of urgency. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Bow to Mother Nature
acrylic with pastes in pointillism style on canvas
    Size: 30 x 30
In Bow to Mother Nature, I swirled heavy pastes in the style of pointillism to honor HER design --one which could entice the observer to amble through a field of lush greens -- where the sun kissed the poppy reds, vivid violets and brilliant blues and the air was drunk with their perfume --finding with each step, a blessed peace. This was the place within me some time ago when I imagined this painting. I turned to the glory of Mother Nature to soothe an ache in my heart and feel my own blessed peace. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • From Scratch
oil painting on gallery wrapped stretched canvas
    Size: 20 x 20
Shadows and refracted light always are always interesting to me. Both then themselves to exploring relationships between light and the curious things glass vessels do to optics. In this case, having created a beautiful loaf of bread with charred edges, casting lovely shadow on a tea towel, and the olive oil container morphing the image seen with in it inspired this work. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Rhode River in the Fall

  • Midsommar
    embroidery and felting
    Size: 12 x 14
As a Swedish-American I always treasured the folklore and traditions my grandfather’s family preserved. My mother was Swedish and Polish and she loved the festivals and old ways. Fiber arts are by hand and in the same traditional fashion as our ancestors. This piece is felted and embroidered celebrating a holiday as important to Swedes as Christmas. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Rendezvous
    acrylic/mixed media on canvas
    Size: 48 x 60
I had a phone call from a Professor from New England college who asked me if I would be interested in an exhibition themed "Landscrape", not misspelled. Of course I agreed and proceeded to paint some large pieces for the exhibit. Long story short, the exhibit didn't get off the ground so to speak, but the work did. Consequently, this piece was included by Anita Rogers, Anita Rogers Gallery in the Art2Life 2023 exhibit. One thing leads to another. In creating this piece I was able to paint freely with abandon. I utilized larger brushes, paint edgers to drag and remove paint, charcoal, graphite, you name it. I also used some house paint because I loved the way it moved on the canvas. The work had many layers, a paint layer followed by a layer of gloss medium, which give the piece a lovely depth and textural quality. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Ice Water
    Photography
    Size: 10 x 8
In Tales of a Consulting Detective, Sherlock Holmes said: “You see, but you do not observe. The distinction is clear.” I want to observe and to present things in a way that causes the viewer to stop and observe- just as I pause when I see something that causes me to say- wow! Or causes me to see the wonder in the world as if seeing it for the first time. We have the technology to immediately capture whatever is in front of us. The challenge is for people to slow down; to question whether there is only one way to look at something; and to search for new meaning in something they may have seen before. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Hidden
    stoneware, wood, copper wire sculpture
    Size: 11 x 12 x 4
I started with the figure first. Sometimes the clay will break while drying. I incorporate that element into the piece by making the repair visible. This figure, though injured, continues on her journey. Hiding along the way until it is safe to move. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Winter Lilac
    woodcut print, artist proof
    Size: 30 x 25

  • The Undoing of Being
graphite & colored pencil on paper
    Size: 48 x 27
A deteriorating, decomposing stump of a felled tree is superimposed on a landscape. The extreme physicality of the stump engages and thrusts the experience directly into the viewer's space. Title refers to the collapse of a physical system into increasing levels of disorder and uncertainty. It calls attention to time in a deep sense as well as attention to the destruction of our natural environment. The mesmeric process of careful observation utilizing many grades of graphite pencils is a time-consuming detailed approach where textures are always visible and pulsating with life. At the same time, my technique is a metaphor for embracing the moment. It’s fascinating to me to work with the basic material of the earth – what was once life – to create works that are completely integrated with the images. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Small Work With A Dot On The Left
    ink on rice paper
    Size: 7.75 x 7.75
Levin’s ink drawings use dip pen on paper. Her undulating lines contain stops and starts, deliberate accidents, ink bleeding into the paper fibers, one line at a time in a repeated pattern. In the artist’s words, “Repetition is a mediating factor between things that came before and the present.” From a distance, we see a whole shape. Up close, however, the series of thinly drawn and repetitive lines ripple from one to another, creating connections to natural phenomena, such as, the rings on a tree, the whirls on a fingertip, water patterns, or the markings of an ancient cuneiform. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • The Whisperer
reclaimed wood, wire, knitted straw, metal tag
    Size: 28 x 28 x 3
I am the Whisperer, whispering the truth. I dare not speak these words aloud, the consequences are grave. They took our land, our water, our wilderness. They took our children and tried to make them forget. But we are still here, still telling our story. Much to their disappointment, we did not disappear: We are a strong people. Listen closely. Your heart may already be hearing the whispers. They speak the truth. Take heed. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

    oil on linen painting
    Size: 60 x 54
SKY EYES MOTHER - This oil painting is from my Vanishing Women series.: Sky Eyes Mother is about femicide and violence against women My beautiful niece disappeared in 2016. My sister's eyes have become the infinite sky as she continues to hold her sleeping child. The sacred drum beats a warning - calling attention to the continuing tragedy of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. Note the corn on left. This is Corn Mother, the mother of the people. acrylic on wood panel
    Size: 24 x 30

This piece is from my "Real Life" collection representing ordinary moments from connections with loved ones, walks in the park, or quiet reflections woven together into something extraordinary. • Pressing on No. 2 collage: thread, woven paper on vintage iron
    Size: 5.5 x 3.25 x 10
PRESSING ON Series combines artifact, word* and fiber – the hardness of iron, the softness of fibers, and the wisdom of words, as a testament to generations of women, the multi-layered heritage, domesticity and female domains. Antique sad (solid) irons evoke the tactile, experiential memory - the personal 'herstories'. Utilizing: *text from writings by pro-feminist, abolitionist, writer Hannah More, published anonymously in 1791. More's life-long overriding cause was galvanizing women to act not as domestic ornaments, but as thinking, engaged and responsible beings. Hannah gave the abolitionist movement a public voice with her writings. Dying in September of 1833, she lived just long enough to see slavery abolished in the British Empire. Awareness of the dedicated work of Hannah More in the 18th C. illustrates the depth and density of deep seated issues within our culture and inspires us to continue to raise one's voice to inequality and injustice. • Legacy watermedia on arches wc paper
    Size: 15 x 21
Watermedia allows me to explore the beauty of nature in all of its forms. The spontaneity, unpredictability, and serendipitous journey I take each time I layer watermedia motivates my continuous exploration of this unique medium. Incredible contrasts of light/dark, warm/cool, transparent and opaque reveal new patterns, symbols and shapes inviting further definition and mark making. I endeavor to discover new and unique combinations of watermedia. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

    watercolor painting
    Size: 11.5 x 20
The tropical florals are an ongoing series of watercolors inspired by a solo show I was invited to have at the Koa Gallery in Honolulu that ran concurrent to a High School Reunion in Honolulu where I was born and raised. The work explores my passion for watercolor, serial imagery and evocative color. The subject matter takes me back to my roots and feelings of desire, longing, and a painful nostalgia as I relive my life rich with exotic scents, colors and adventures with childhood and teen friends, most of whom are still living in this tropical paradise and remain my closest friends to this day. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Mother's Helper
watercolor on hahnemuhle 100% rag paper
    Size: 9 x 11
I saw the cool winter light shining through the kitchen window. It reminded me of Vermeer paintings I was so familiar with. I couldn't help but want to replicate that feeling. Using my new favorite medium, watercolor, and my granddaughter as my model, I proceeded to act upon that impulse, creating the painting, "Mother's Helper." Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Fragments of Memory
sumi ink, tengucho paper, paper on paper.
    Size: 8 x 12
My artistic focus centers on creating abstract landscapes that explore transformation as a shared force between the natural world and human life. Attuned to nature’s rhythms—where change is constant, interconnected, and reflective of our own shifting inner worlds. I explore the interplay of movement and stillness, structure and fluidity. My work reflects the contrasts of the world around us—organic and man-made, fleeting and permanent, controlled and spontaneous. At the core of my practice is a fascination with these tensions. I aim to capture transformation—external and internal—through forms that reveal something beyond the visible and invite a dialogue that continues to evolve. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • Eager Sun
    acrylic on cradled wood
    Size: 20 x 20
My paintings develop intuitively as a fusion of my mind, heart and hand at any particular time. Beginning without a preconceived plan, and while accessing a mood or memory in my mind's eye, I explore the limitless possibilities of abstraction. While applying many layers of paint, eventually a movement of floating, amorphous shapes evolves. Surprises occur. Each work is a unique set of discoveries and an exploration unto itself. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • A Stroll Through Giverny
    oil painting
    Size: 14 x 11
“A Stroll Through Giverny” reflects my experience visiting the village of Giverny, where the morning light infused the street and gardens with a luminous warmth. • Boxed
    acrylic on canvas with craypas

"Boxed" is my story of isolation. Painted at the tail end of the pandemic, I feel it applies univarsally to all feelings of isolation. • Still Life: Green and Orange Study
    oil on canvas
Size: 18 x 24 I am constantly hoarding; filling my studio with empty plastic bottles and discarded packaging. I commemorate these objects through painting before I let them go. My work investigates consumerism, environmentalism, and sentimentality under the framework of Western still-life painting traditions. However, I reach for formal haphazardness, letting my eyes wander around the dark, messy corners of my studio until they land naturally on interesting moments. I then zoom in and out of this potential composition, not moving anything but rather adjusting my own body’s placement in relation to what is already there. I transform candy wrappers and tabletops into odd, illogical spaces. The result is a traffic jam of bottles and forgotten Post-It notes, rendered almost unintelligible. I paint from life in oil paint, experimenting with colorful lighting. Though I am looking intensely at the tableau set before me, I am an unreliable narrator, creating visual puzzles and selective realities. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
