  • ceramic 15 x 11 x 9" Taking off in a personal, fantastical, playful westernized direction, I create a "character mask" I hope worthy of those wonderful sculpted wooden masks worn by performers in both traditional energetic Japanese Kabuki theatre and dance presentations and in the more restrained Noh theatre performances. Initial inspiration transformed!

  • glazed terracotta 15 x 11 x 9" Faith that nature will always rebound after devastation is my inspiration. In the throes of current natural phenoma: fires along the West Coast and miles of forest destroyed, floods, landslides, late season snowstorms paralyzing the Midwest, tornadoes... but with the conviction that all the negative is surely cyclical, I pursue my art -- aware, and hopeful that although the work may document the times I can convey the spirit of hope that golden days await ahead ---

  • Limestone 19 x 12 x 6" My sculpting is done as direct carving in stone -- meaning that the work is not meticulously preplanned, but proceeds as a collaboration between the artist and the medium. The stone evokes an initial image in the imagination of the artist who proceeds to chip away letting that image emerge. My style can be called realism, tinged with a touch of fantasy. • oil on canvas
    20 x 24 x 0.7"
This piece draws its inspiration from the enchanting sounds of nature at night. Picture a captivating symphony orchestrated by the chorus of small creatures, a melodic masterpiece with no clear beginning or end. This harmonious composition sweeps everyone into a dance, casting a luminous glow upon the surroundings. In the heart of this auditory spectacle, I envisioned a diminutive creature perched delicately upon a leaf. With a magical touch, it plays an ethereal melody, weaving the nocturnal symphony into a mesmerizing tapestry of sound and light.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Oil on canvas 20 x 24 x .7 in.   "Taking a Break" captures a moment of serene introspection as a woman, suspended in a dreamlike state, floats atop a cloud against swirling cosmic hues. This piece conveys the profound experience of pausing amidst life's complexities, highlighting the intimate relationship between the female spirit and the universe. The painting reflects the strength and resilience inherent in the female journey.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • oil on canvas 20 x 16 x 0.7" I've spent my whole life painting to express who I am. My art reflects life's ups and downs, capturing moments of struggle, enlightenment, and search for peace from a woman's viewpoint. Drawing inspiration from my own journey, tackling emotions like solitude and the quest for purpose, I craft subjects that resonate with universal themes. Through my paintings, I unfold my narrative to the world, employing the canvas as my chosen medium. To keep things fresh, I constantly play with a range of colors and shapes, allowing me to dive into my creative depths while staying true to my distinctive style.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • oil on canvas 24 x 18 x 0.7" I am a contemporary artist, whose style could be described as a blend of symbolism and surrealism. My goal is to bring dreams and creativity into physical reality. My artworks are characterized by vibrant colors, a balance between light and darkness and neat brushstrokes. I take my time to accurately compose the characters, so they could elegantly express their emotional experience. I am influenced by the old masters like Thomas Gainsborough and his remarkably delicate feminine characters, and by surrealists like Frida Kahlo, and her expression of pain and passion. My main medium is oil on canvas. I am experimenting with watercolors and ink pen as well.

  • oil on canvas 24 x 20 x .7" When I was little, I thought that all people and animals are friends. I still think, that we are all together on this Earth moving somewhere. In my painting I wanted to show the beauty and power of a rhino, and a human, who completely trusts his rhino companion. I created a night sky background, to emphasize two characters. The road, that they are taking is foggy and radiant, to maintain a mystical experience. This artwork is one of a kind. Made with high-quality professional oil paint on a gallery wrapped canvas. Painting is signed / dated on both front and back. Painted sides, unframed and ready to hang.

  • sumi-e 20 x 25"
The Master Potter, a dear friend of mine, her hands move knowing while her mind drifts creatively. Sumi-e, on double shuan paper all from the same ink thinned to a wash to create the gradients, dry brush created the highlights in her hair. The subtle bleeds created between the paper and the ink honor the potters love of Raku and Sager Firing. A tribute to an artist that mastered her medium over 50 years and pushed the envelop up to the end.

  • Eastern watercolor/sumi-e on single Shuen rice paper
20 x 32 x 2" The world of the people of the streets is stripped down to basic survival, but with a need of self worth, ownership. The grocery cart has become the symbol of that need to show ownership of something, anything. A metaphor for they themselves, cast offs, other peoples throw aways.  The carts, battered and bent, with the wonky wheels we hate to get when shopping, they live with it everyday, until the carts themselves are discarded and they become a part of the landscape, the urban landscape, lawn ornaments, trash piling up in vacant lots, bus stations and public parks. Seen and acknowledged by all that pass by, much more so than the people that once used them to transport their worlds.

  • Stone 22 x 12 x 8"
I always had a love for creating sculptures out of alabaster stone. I worked with direct carving, finding inspiration in the coloration and the flow of the stone itself. My sculptures reveal the female form conveying a sense of movement with the subtle details of flowing fabric. My visions emerge from the stone as I delve deeper into its core and only truly know what will appear with the final polishing. I enjoy sharing my art and insist that people touch ans caress them as they learn what can be created from within a stone.

  • Pascali Rosę Porcelain Sculpture Size: 10 x 8.25 x 6 I hand-form nature-inspired ceramic sculptures in porcelain. The Pascali Rose, an abstract of the rose of the same name, recalls the delicate turns of this flower's petals. Petite Nuage (Little Cloud) is one of an on-going series I have created that is meant to capture the beauty cloud formations. The gold leaf recalls sunlight catching the cloud's edges. • #1670 The Lotus Queen Lily Porcelain Size of Piece: 20 x 18 x 11 Garden flowers have been a running theme of my hand-formed porcelain sculptures for many years. I work toward realism or the abstract, depending on the flower. My inspiration comes on the walks I take in this seaside town with lush gardens. Porcelain allows me to bring my work petal- thin, and that encourages my hand to create energy in my pieces. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Ceramics
    8.5 x 6 x 4.5"
This sculpture was formed by my blowing up a balloon and wrapping wafer think porcelain around it; then detailing it with 23k gold leaf. I titled it Clare De Lune as it is meant to recall the light we so often see on the side of the moon. It is part of a small series I've created in keeping with my nature theme. I used a particularly translucent porcelain to achieve the effect.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Photograph 12 x 12 in.   I felt so fortunate to have caught this special moment of two women friends, one cool summer morning as they walked together in the sea. I loved that they were touching, as though one was guiding or encouraging the other to move through the water, perhaps deep in conversation. I feel this scene said so much, especially since they were alone. It speaks to friendship. The joy and encouragement we experience from it and the importance of connection.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Hand-formed porcelain 11 x 8 x 6" This work best exemplifies my ability to take porcelain to its thinnest walls and create objects that are intimate views of nature: Cove Tide, being a detail of the sea in motion.

  • Sculpture 14 x 9 x 7.5"

All of my sculptural work is nature-themed with a focus on the sea and florals, both abstract and moving toward realism. My inspiration for this work came from my frequent visits to a beautiful spot of land—ocean on three sides-- with the same name, that juts into the open ocean. I submitted this because it is a special example of what I believe is the magic of working with porcelain—that I can bring it to wafer thin forms while turning, twisting and lifting it into organic shapes that recall the energy of the sea.

  • acrylics / mixed media on canvas 24 x 20 x 1"
In this vibrant creation, I sought to capture the raw, unfiltered essence of human passion and energy. Using acrylic, chalk, and sand, I've given life to a figure that radiates with dynamism, embodying freedom and unshackled expression. The bold textures and effervescent hues will send a current of vitality through any space, inspiring onlookers to embrace the dance of life with unrestrained joy.

  • Painting She, Bright as Yellow 16 x 16 x 2 in. 'She, Bright as Yellow' moved me to paint. From corsets, panty hose, Skims and Spanx we are so often asked to constrict, to make smaller. Working from my series of underwater works titled ‘Coming Up For Air”, the painting included in this submission reflect on the notion of breath; fighting for and finding the space to breathe in. My work is a joyful reclamation. Through provocation, humor, and strength, I examine equality and personal truths through a contemporary figurative lens. I explore the complex ways we all navigate in the spaces that surround us, and how I hope my work emboldens women to take up space. • The Delight Project: No. 5 Oil on Canvas Size of Piece: 20 x 16 My name is Anne Pollard James and I paint the spectacular strength of women. My current project, 'The Delight Project' examines many of the notions of the concept of how we 'brave the body’.  As women, we are always asked to cover up and camouflage our natural bodies. In fact, based on what we see on a screen, you would never know that skin has scars, pores and complex texture. That the body is as pragmatic as it is mysterious. The very things that make us strong and capable are the things that our cameras filter out. Like, the muscles and the fascia that mold fat into cellulite and keep our legs strong to carry us on our way. And how our faces line and fall with gravity and then peak to glorious smiles that light up everything. And how our bellies rise and fall, and are streaked with the pale-blue-peach hued marks that stretch to hold us. For this project, I offered an open invitation to participate in this series. And then, I simply met women where they are and captured small moments of joy and delight of self, to include in a series of painted images based on a photo that we worked together to create. Here are their stories. • Oil All My Favorite Colors Size: 50 x 26 x 3 My submissions represent the most current work I have completed. The figurative series was intended to encompass all things about creation. The cubist quality happened rather organically while I was troubleshooting creative ways to represent parts of a figure, and the pieces that make up a whole being. These are only two examples, while some of the works not pictured are more irregular and varied shapes, rather than the hard-edged linear shapes seen here. The pallet varies as well but overall the works are a neutral with vibrant undertones. The contour lines will appear and subtly disappear. I enjoyed the thinking process behind the pieces as much as the actual creation of them. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • mixed media painting using collaged hand painted papers 22 x 22 x 2" Excited by the way colorful shapes fit together, how a line on the surface can cause movement, the surprise of embedded bits of pattern -- my work is playful and energetic. I am almost completely concerned with how the elements of art come together to make a strong composition. Sometimes compared to aerial views, puzzle pieces locked together and urban grids, in my work, these are qualities sensed rather than seen. While the result is abstract, every piece begins with a reference – a concrete memory, sensation or even a photograph of a place I have traveled. For viewers, the experience is about creativity and curiosity, moving in close to see the layers, and asking themselves “what is this?” Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • linocut 20 x 16 x 1" My prints reflect my lifetime fascination with the eternal truths and beauty found in the natural world. I find these in the grace and elegance of living forms and the majesty of scenic landscapes. I channel them into a personal visual statement. Each print is the result of an idea, a narrative that forms in my mind, which I execute as a design. Then there is the challenge of cutting the image into the plate and printing the edition. Cutting each plate provides a new learning experience.

  • Feline Feminist Mixed Media Collage and Acrylic on Sintra panel Size of Piece: 24 x 18 Creating artwork can be a powerful and universal vehicle for human connection. For me, the challenge is to touch the timeless themes iterated in visual art, literature, drama and music throughout recorded history, while staying relevant and responsive to one’s own cultural place in the timeline. Since childhood to the present day, I have been a painter and visual artist. My images are primarily painted directly from life, with the subject typically casting a gaze back at the viewer. My paintings respond to themes “humanity”- my fellow women, forced migration, social justice, civil rights, natural and man-made calamities, as well as the respite of nature’s continuum. My process comes from my desire to bypass self-conscious inhibitions in the pursuit of self-expression. In 1990, I felt artistically "reborn" when I started painting with my non-dominant left hand and discovered renewed creative freedom. This, as well as using oversized brushes, gives me speed and fluidity, resulting in either as a fully representational finished painting, or the base on which to build a mixed media collage. Utilizing physical collage materials such as torn maps, shards of color, images from printed media, and my own repurposed drawing fragments as my palette, the works become emblematic statements of the over-stimulation and media bombardment of contemporary society, in concert with the directly observed presentation of a human subject. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

My intent is to create a narrative through this photograph of the needy and poverty stricken children of our (3rd) world. Part of my "International Children Series", my photo captures an authentic moment in 2022 of two sisters in front of their living quarters in their Laotian village. There is an irony to their donated GAP clothing and Nike sandals, dirty and worn, in the materialistic standards and values of life in America. Looking further into this photograph, one can see a typical home in Laos, bringing to reality the life of these young girls. Most importantly, their natural expressions add emotional overtones to this piece. as they help to convey a story of the children of Laos.
