I recently expanded my love for weaving and basketry into complete works of art that tell a story or are based on a theme on a small scale. I begin with a subject for the mini weaving and choose recycled materials to add to the work as as I go along such as glass, beads, raffia, metal and found objects. I do not preplan the design but rather let the objects and fibers determine the composition and direction of the work as I create it. My inspiration for Copper Waves is derived from the strata earth formations in our underground environment and the various metallic colors found there.
