The past has been shaded, with an actual shade at the top of the image and by use of books written during the period on women's lives. There is a painting of a woman of color beginning to rise. Her posture and gaze represent knowledge long held but historically concealed. At the base of the work, coded tags invite the viewer to engage digitally through their smartphones. "The Falconi Twins" portrays the resilience of two women from my childhood town who defied societal expectations in the 1970s. In truth, they were a gay couple seeking refuge in a world that struggled to accept them for who they truly were. This portrait is a fusion of orphaned vintage photographs, my photographs, abstract drawings, and antique ephemera in subtle layers of pigmented beeswax on Kozo. I replicated a solitary figure to create a twin, etched intricate patterns and sgraffito onto the platform, balustrade, and figures to weave a narrative of secrets and shared experiences that remain unreadable to outsiders. As a wildlife photographer, I enjoy watching and photographing the mallards in her cypress pond. The ducks are quite tame and my presence doesn't bother them. Mallards have more than 11,000 feathers, and when this male mallard struck a pose, I was able to capture many of those feathers, including his distinctive curled tail feathers. The mallard's flexible neck anatomy allows it to rotate its head 180 degrees. When I took this photo, the mallard turned his head to look back over his body, which created a more unique photo.     Hot Nights, Bright Lights: Pool 1 oil on canvas 24 x 24 Much of my work explores the transformative effect of light on the ordinary. This nocturne plays off the idea of “reflection,” evoking the nostalgia of swimming on warm summer nights. Bright, scattered lights shimmer across the pool’s surface, mirrored through water-blurred vision, where perception softens and shifts. The perspective bends as if seen through the eyes of a child suspended at the surface, where even a small pool expands into something vast, mysterious, and immersive. Angles double, textures ripple, and light fragments into a dreamlike interplay of color and motion. In this space between clarity and distortion, memory and sensation merge—creating a quiet, luminous fantasy that captures the fleeting magic of a night swim.     Transit of Venus: Phase 4 Emergence

    Ink, pastel, and color pencil on paper 40 x 22.5 in.   Ever since antiquity, astronomers have studied the 13 phases of Venus, from her rise as the morning star, to her descent into invisibility, and her re-emergence in the evening sky. These phases occur over a 19-month cycle, marking both a physical and a spiritual passage. I expressed each phase in a different work. The journey begins with Inception, passing through Gestation, Birth, Emergence towards Fullness and Self-Discovery. Then Immersion and Transmutation are followed by Rebirth, Remembering, Wholeness, Completion. My inspiration was a found ledger of observations of the 1874 Transit of Venus, a phenomenon occurring every 243 years when the planet moves across the face of the sun.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
