printmaking 8 x 8" Universe Series uses a variety of animals to represent life as they ponder the latest scientific theories concerning the Universe. These playful explorations look toward space and at humankinds' reaction to it. Who hasn't wondered what it would be like to live in the caves of Mars, thought about when we might be drawn into the black hole that keeps our galaxy together, or seen heaven when we look up at the stars? This work of art is a serigraph, or more commonly known as a silkscreen print. It is a hand-made, small-edition print, that uses my graphite drawing as its basis, and is an original work of art. What makes serigraphy the perfect printmaking method for my art, is I can retain areas of pure white paper, capture the tonality of my drawings, and place blocks of intense color that either overlaps part of the image, or lightly kisses the edge of image. Serigraphy is a modern printmaking method with a very old history. Stencil-based, hand-made prints originated during the tenth century in China. They made their first appearance in Europe around the 18th century and are used throughout the world today. This mode of printmaking has evolved over time, so that Modern artists such as Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall, Pop artists such as Andy Warhol and Peter Max, and Contemporary artists including me, have found it an attractive medium for the creation of fine art. acrylic 11 x 10" In the hushed embrace of winter, where nature weaves a tapestry of solitude with its icy tendrils, my creations emerge as reflections of the quiet storm within. Winter, oft perceived as a season of retreat, becomes the crucible for a transformative dance between isolation and inspiration. As we seek refuge indoors from the tempestuous storms that sweep across the landscape, an introspective sanctuary unfurls, cultivating an environment where solitude metamorphoses into the catalyst for unrestrained creativity. This piece is an exploration of the delicate balance between the tranquility of seclusion and the tumultuous beauty of unleashed imagination. Each stroke, each contour, is a testament to the nuanced interplay between the serenity of winter's embrace and the tempestuous bursts of creativity that arise when the world slows down. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

photography 13 x 9" I strive to go beyond a subject's appearance to uncover a deeper, more elusive truth. That truth is revealed to me more vividly through the camera lens than through the naked eye. I see textures, and layers, and the way objects interact in geometric patterns to form other creations. I see shadows and reflections and sometimes an incongruous fusion of these elements. What I see in the camera lens joins with the impressions stamped in my mind's eye, informing the images I create. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
mixed media 11 x 14" My artwork gives me the opportunity to express thoughts and feelings that I am unable to articulate in words. I explore the thought process, revealing multilevel reflections of my inner self and collaborations between nature and culture. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
oil 10 x 10" As a landscape painter, I find nocturnes especially interesting and challenging. There is something special about capturing a feeling a nighttime experience has given us. Bright lights in contrast with cool eerie shadows allow me to explore different color palettes to evoke relatable emotions and memories. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
acrylic 13.5 x 13.5" My work in paint explores the backyard of imagination using ebullient colors in combination with the serendipitous experiences found in processes that use untraditional techniques and alternative tools. The results are oddly harmonious incongruities. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
collage 9 x 12" Different media enable a variety of ideas to form and emerge and small dimensions encourage experimentation. What one produces in monotype on a press contrasts with what one creates using encaustic and can look unlike anything done with paper collage. All three media are direct, spontaneous and playful. Here are three skyscapes or, as I prefer, three fantasies about looking out and up. A good way to begin the new year. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
oil 10 x 12" I paint stories about people and sceneries that are inspired by the complexities and awesomeness of life. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
pastel 12 x 12" I love capturing the essence of life with my art. Using distinctive coloring technique and imaginative approach, I depict the subtle lights, reflections and hidden hues on the subjects. The subjects are either close to my heart, telling a story, or from a memorable moment. Sweet Rain shows a rainy Christmas day in LA. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
oil 12 x 12" Each of my paintings represents the beauty of the ocean in an abstract and organic way. I am creating the ocean as it feels, looks, and what it means to our planet. This is conveyed through the movement of the water, the waves and currents like the rhythm of music flowing endlessly and translucently, and as a lens of above looking down at the richness of color and the islands being swallowed by the water as our oceans keep rising. While what is happening to our oceans is a dire situation, we can reflect on its beauty and what we can do to stop more irreversible damage to continue to enjoy the vast, wild, and serene place. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

sculpture 7 x 11 x 9" Barbara “Berne” Smith is a professional artist sculptor who creates award winning Porcelain & Clay works of traditional realism which express relationships, behavior and perspective of animals interacting with their daily environment. Ms. Smith’s insights are gained from a lifetime of working with and observing animals. Owning and living on a farm in central Virginia provides her a constant window on the personalities and activities of animals in their natural surroundings that inspire her creative works. Ms. Smith is an Elected Member of the Salmagundi Club of New York (SCNY); Signature Member of The American Artists Professional League Inc. (AAPL), Elected Member of Audubon Artists Inc., and National Sculpture Society Member. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

photography 8 x 12" I love photographing people on the street. This passion developed during travels to Mexico and Cuba. In the past few years, I have been photographing people on the streets of New York City. What excites and energizes me is how spontaneous the process is and how unpredictable people are. Sometimes people are unaware I've taken their picture. Others will agree to pose for several photos. I look for interesting places with interesting forms, light and geometry to serve as a background for the people I choose to photograph. What attracts me could be an expression, an action, detail, or reflection. You may often find me on the streets of New York capturing the fast-paced dynamics of life there. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
acrylic 9 x 12" My work is about finding connections through shared places and experiences. I see beauty in the ordinary. I find inspiration from roadside relics, abandoned alleyways and faded and rusty signage. Often forgotten or overlooked, these places have stories to tell. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
watercolor 11 x 14" I enjoy working in many mediums and have fun while engaged in the creative process. I rarely if ever have an end picture in mind, as I mostly play and experiment in a very fluid way. I enjoy layering, trying new techniques and tools, and using more than one medium in a piece. I step away often to assess my next move and try to stop when it 'feels done'. It's often a very happy surprise, but sometimes the piece goes into the 'someday' pile/file for a future painting or collage. My inspiration comes from nature, color, new art supplies and processes, and language. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
sculpture 11 x 10 x 2" I am interested in the expression of color and reflections as a language. Because of the transparent nature of plexiglass it is possible to create visual statements of color and hue that are not available with other materials. My work explores the nature of individual colors and their interaction and reflections. The composite of the individual components creates a distinctive visual statement. My work is meant to be joyous and celebratory. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
mixed media 9 x 9" If you see a woman walking and occasionally swooping down to pick up a shiny metal object, a sparkling gem, or an interesting piece of metal or plastic, it could be me. I am constantly searching for treasures on the street, at flea markets, in thrift stores, in discarded jewelry, in the trash room in my co-op, and anywhere I go. When I get home, I soak the day’s finds in detergent, rinse and dry them, then squirrel them away in clear plastic boxes and drawers, along with things I purchase, that fill my studio waiting to be turned into a collage, assemblage, or mixed media art piece. I get my inspiration from lots of sources, including museums and galleries, magazines and books, art classes, artists, and my imagination and dreams. I constantly teach myself new techniques, experiment with ways to work with different materials, and share ideas. Many of my pieces come about serendipitously, trying one thing and ending up with something unexpected and wonderful, which is what happened for the pieces I am submitting. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
digital 7 x 10" Creative Spirit Unveiled: Inspired by the holistic concepts of space and time in Indigenous cultures, I explore ways to use light, reflections, shadows, and delicately balanced spatial relationships to reveal the spiritual strength and synergy that evolve with creative expression. I use custom software that allows me to “mold space with light” and create ethereal nth dimensional worlds with spatial and temporal transformations that manifest various perceptual dichotomies. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
mixed media 12 x 12" I enjoy layering in all forms to give my work texture and depth using different mediums and collage elements building on each other. Each layer affects and can transform the previous one. The layers can be a metaphor for life. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

acrylic 11 x 9" As a fine artist: painter and sculptor, I use concepts of abstraction, cubism, and surrealism to explore the elusive qualities of time, energy, and storytelling. My artistic goal is to create seductive surfaces and provocative forms that involve the viewer in an emotional visual adventure. This painting is executed with acrylic paint on a third dimensional gourd. I redefine the use of the natural plant gourd as a third dimensional canvas. The gourd is a member of the pumpkin family. This plant form is dried, opened and the seeds removed. The surface is primed, images are rendered and finished with a protective matte varnish. Although coated inside the vessel may not be used for liquid. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
acrylic 12 x 12" My paintings explore texture and, gesture, and are about the memories and emotions that are evoked in the process. They suggest a sense of place, of peace, of elements of the natural world. Inspiration comes from everywhere: feelings, poetry, nature, things that take my breath away. These are tucked away into a kind of reservoir, echoes of them surfacing later in my paintings Starting with random marks and responding to them intuitively, I approach them with a sense of play, experimentation and an exploration of the materials, as much as an emotional response to the evolving painting. I work in acrylics, encaustics and oil & cold wax and mixed media, all involved with building layers and working back into them, scraping and dissolving to expose what lies beneath. For me, it is all about the process: finding a sense of order, of refuge and letting go; becoming immersed in the moment and the physicality of engaging the surface. A visual energy emerges flowing through the layers, creating depth and an intimate space that invites exploration. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
photography 7 x 5" In my art work, I capture the simple beauty in everyday life, the commonplace or ordinary scenes in the natural and built environment. These images offer us rare moments of solitude, time to slow down and observe the world around us, and to enjoy quiet beauty and serenity. A photograph captures a portion of this beauty and tranquility, offering viewers quiet moments of reflection. I use water and light as beautiful threads that draw the eye in, providing an opportunity to examine nature and the built environment. The quality of light is of paramount importance, defining the textures and forms in nature, and patterns of light and shadow. A strong sense of design is also important in these images. I use the platinum/palladium printing process to capture a softer, painterly effect, evoking late 19th century idyllic landscapes and lending a poetic quality to the images. The platinum/ palladium process, a time-honored process, also renders a rich tonal scale and permanence to the images. It is a time-intensive, hand-made process—from coating the paper with varying mixtures of the platinum/palladium solution to exposing the negatives to the sun. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

photography 15 x 15" "I am passionate about my photography and print all my images, spending hours in the "Light Room". This gives me a true sense of freedom in expressing my work. I want my work to enhance my viewers' imaginations and to lift their spirits. I hope that what I see with my heart becomes what the viewer sees with their eyes." Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

oil 10 x 10" All I ever wanted to be was smaller. I’ve found refuge from this compulsive desire by allowing myself space in the work. In my body of work, autobiographical paintings depict tender moments from my day to day life. Portraits of my partner and I provide queer representation void of hyper sexualized or traumatic imagery, with this I begin to disrupt heteronormative narratives, and provide images of queer joy. In focusing on the figure through a queer feminine gaze I create colorful and carefully composed oil paintings that allow bodies that are often asked to shrink, a place to be vulnerable and take up space. Candid photos often acting as my source material allow insecurities to penetrate the most loving of works. Through eye level and framing the casual nature of the references invites the viewer in as a participant rather than a voyeur. There is sympathy and authenticity to the rendering of each subject, with careful consideration put into capturing the volume of the forms. My emphasis is always on the sense of touch, creating works that are tender and where each push and pull of the skin is felt. Thoughtfully placed line and vivid color works to exploit the most tense areas of the work, helping each to feel uncomfortably intimate. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
sculpture 7 x 7 x 4" I created a large California brown pelican wall relief for a commission at a children's hospital in 2016. I decided to create this smaller one with a window box. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
mixed media 12 x 12" Currently, my work has focused on military spouses, in the form of figurative and portraiture paintings. The work explores and expresses the psychological impacts felt by this subculture. This small portrait is one from a large series focusing on identity; military spouses are organized and named by their "sponsor's/ spouses's last four" of their social security numbers- not by their name... printmaking 10 x 8" My purpose in making art is to touch the ineffable, to go beyond words into the deep belly of creativity. It is to meet myself in the wellspring and have a conversation with the viewer, to communicate in a deep and intimate way at first sight, in an instant. I strive only to be in harmony with each line, each splash of color and splatter of ink as it strikes the painting surface, to reveal what is already there. The experience of making marks gets truly exciting when I resist the impulse to name what I’m seeing take shape and open myself up to the possibility of not knowing, of just seeing and experiencing whatever is in front of me – what it is saying, what it is becoming. To let it do me rather than me do it. I wish for anyone who stands or sits in front of a piece of art created in my studio this same experience. I don’t want viewers to know or feel what I feel. I want them to know and feel whatever they feel. That is for me the true nature of all art: beauty that is unrepeatable and unnamable. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
photography 10 x 8" I am passionate about photography as an art form. In a world overfull with images, ideas, and messages streaming at us at warp speed, there is profound value in the thoughtfulness, the provocation, the silent aesthetic, the power of a single image made with the vision and ever evolving techniques of fine art photography. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

assemblage 8 x 8" Everything I use in my work I find on my walks. I'm cleaning up the environment in a small way. The beauty of these pieces never ceases to amaze me. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

mixed media 10 x 10" This image represents a series of experiments combining photo transfers and printmaking as modes of art expression. Thematically, it shares the sense of exhilaration and magic experienced by children. It is my hope that it inspires a viewer to think, " I remember those innocent days." It has been created in the anticipation of larger canvases using similar processes. My art practice involves experimenting with and exploring different media and materials. For me, life is too short to limit my work to a specific style. In the same way I create this sense of childhood fantasy and freedom, I try to replicate that feeling in my paintings. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

printmaking 8 x 10" I’m a self-taught abstract artist focusing on printmaking and encaustic painting. I don’t draw. I use color, shape, and composition to create images that please my eye. I’m a monotype maker. I love the immediacy of its painterly process. I place ink on plexiglass, using brayers and brushes. I might add stencils, plastic netting, or pieces of paper, glued down. I use whatever seems to fit, determined by the creative process itself. I am unsure why I do what I do. I just do it. I carefully lay the work down on the press bed, hoping I don’t get too much ink on my hands. Desperately trying to keep the water-soaked paper clean of ink, I lay it over the plate, crossing my fingers that it’s square over the plate. I crank the handle, pulling the rollers over the assembled work. I’ve lost control as the bed slides under the rollers, creating something beyond what I’ve organized. The work itself is now in control of the final piece. I attempt make art through the power, gifts, and talents that God has given me. I yearn to be faithful to the inner me, the person who feels more comfortable creating than doing anything else in this world. oil 9 x 12" Fine artist and humanitarian Laurie Elizabeth McKinley has dedicated her life to observing, documenting, and participating in the human experience. She has traveled the globe her entire life, compelled to observe and photograph the stories of vanishing cultures with compassion and humanity. She translates these increasingly rare images onto canvas, so that she might share them with the world and hopefully inspire change to protect diversity and the environment. Laurie Elizabeth paints in all genres, especially enjoying en plein air in villages throughout the world and capturing that very special “first feeling” -- the mystery of the moment, the chi, the magic. Laurie Elizabeth encourages all to see the imbalances and injustices in the world and be a voice for awareness and change. She wants humanity to see the the disappearing cultures, traditions, and heritages of the world. She believes the artist’s duty is to see the beauty in all humans and in Mother Nature. fiber art 12 x 12" The muscle memory of sewing is guided by recollections, stringing the grit and tooth of an abduction, the furrows of seams and seeming, of life stories fought out, patched out before paint would dry, better rather knit, pounded out in coarse intermingling of fibers, torn out and restitched and needle felted, a forgiving medium where every loop can be redone and undone, tacked and basted anew. Each embroidery, created from an original figure drawing is transformed into needlepoint, a quilt of pores, threaded with twenty or more colors, bounded and knotted with each physical perforation, a performative puncture onto self-healing felt. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
sculpture 11.75. x 7.25 x 3" My ceramic work is defined by my love of the human form. A childhood love of fantasy finds its way into my work. I express the absurdity of life while drawing influence from unexpected sources like the lyrics of music and nursery rhymes. I have a clear vision of a finished piece before I start. With this idea in mind I immediately start with a combination of wheel thrown pieces, coils and slabs. I alter by pinching, cutting and adding clay until my idea emerges. My pieces are decorated with colored slips and underglazes while still wet. After the 1st firing I add pigmented washes and glazes. My 2nd firing is to 2232°. The last firing to add 24k gold details completes the process. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

photography 10 x 8" In Tales of a Consulting Detective, Sherlock Holmes said: “You see, but you do not observe. The distinction is clear.” I take my camera out. I may choose a subject; I may think “that would make a great picture”; I may visit a new place or one I’ve seen before. I want to observe and to present things in a way that causes the viewer to stop and observe. We have the technology to immediately capture whatever is in front of us. The challenge is for people to slow down; to question whether there is only one way to look at something; and to search for new meaning in something they may have seen before. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

pastel 11 x 9" I am a Florida artist working primarily in soft pastels. The native plants, trees and birds of the gulf coast are my inspiration. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

digital 10 x 10" These images are composed of a collection of bits and pieces that create themselves into a whole. They are pages from a book I am in the process of creating which is a summation of many years of collecting, using fragments both from my own photographs and from the what I can cull from the internet. The title of the book is "Lacrimae Rerum", taken from the Virgil's Aeneid meaning "the tears of things". For me, this phrase means that everything is ephemeral--nothing lasts. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
printmaking 5 x 3" The theme of self-introspection is crucial to my art, since I believe that only by delving into the enigmas of the self can an individual truly engage with the world and bring about change in a profound, meaningful way. Though I consider myself primarily a Symbolist, my art draws on a wide variety of mythologies, worldviews, religions, and literary traditions, both ancient and modern, ranging from Buddhism to Russian folklore. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

drawing 15 x 14" This pen drawing is inspired by our world situation and offers an alternative. I make the Chinese characters for man and woman come alive to create my figures. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

oil 12 x 12" Mareshet is a Surrealist painter originally from Philadelphia. Her inspiration for capturing the details of distinctive brick walls, storefronts, and graffiti in Philadelphia neighborhoods comes from her desire to reconnect to her city roots. Her artworks in oil are technical and less imaginary compared to her works in acyclic, also known as her passion pieces. They consist of dream-like scenes that evoke narrative renderings of new perspectives found after heartache. Both mediums and styles play a significant role in telling a complex or straightforward story. Mareshet focuses on capturing the presence of nature, its changing seasons, inorganic elements, such as metal structures, and its stillness in connection with mankind's curiosity. She has studied using other mediums such as alkyd, mixed media, and charcoal and currently uses the direct painting method and Grisaille technique to complete her works. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

mixed media 9 x 9.5" I reinterpret Palestinian identity through contemporary Tatreez, a traditional cross-stitch embroidery, and the keffiyeh, which is a traditional headscarf. The freehand stitched designs, created with a sewing machine on water-soluble fabric, blend with multimedia layers on canvas or paper. This intertwining reflects women’s self-expression and diasporic identity. The torn and stitched layers symbolize the resilience of identity by tearing apart and using thread to stitch back together multimedia-painted layers on canvas or paper, showing the complexities of identity and the power of heritage. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
mixed media 14 x 11" My work combines painting with collage. This blending of different media enhances the visual mystery that I strive to express. My art is inspired by stories, personal experiences, visual images, and interests in psychology and spirituality. The ambiguous nature of my pieces is my invitation to viewers to become actively engaged in interpreting the work. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
acrylic 15 x 15" My paintings celebrate those moments when our compassion for others illuminates and transforms us and the world around us. These acts of love and kindness are often unnoticed and forgotten. The women in my work are nurturers and peacemakers. Since ancient times women have personified compassion, wisdom and peace. I am a storyteller and my paintings have been described as "visual poetry". Stories help us to remember that we are all connected, and what affects one of us, affects all of us. They have the power to inspire us to create the inner peace that sows the seeds for compassion for others. Our intimate connection with nature and our role as nurturers and protectors are reoccurring themes in my work. Albert Schweitzer once said that until we extend the circle of our compassion to all living things, we will not find peace. Acrylics and oils are my primary media. Drawing is a defining element for me, I begin by blocking out major shapes with a strong dark line. Using linear brushstrokes that create movement, unity and rhythm, I add multiple layers of color, texture, pattern and sometimes canvas, continually refining my original drawing. My goal is to tell a universal story of compassion, peace and joy. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
collage 10 x 8" This art work is created with found papers, rice papers, hand drawn images, and acrylic mediums. I included text and asemic writing. These collage pieces were created after the "Me Too" movement in response to women's rights and in admiration of the strength of women in society. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

mixed media 10 x 8" This mixed media work is part of a series of Animals I created earlier this year. This is a color pencil, watercolor pencil and Neocolor ll drawing on Rives BFK paper. It is then adhered to a 1.5 " deep cradled wood panel, and varnished. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

oil 10 x 8" From still-life to skyscapes, I hope those viewing my paintings will find a reminder of the peace and balance still attainable in our busy modern lives. To me, painting - is a visual exploration of a moment in time where stillness can be found. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

oil 8 x 10" Irina’s work is driven by passion to explore and celebrate life. She is searching for beauty, balance, harmony and the ideal, following the philosophy of the great Russian writer Leo Tolstoy who believed that “beauty will save the world.” Art has always been Irina’s salvation and the fountain from which she could draw inspiration, strength, love and serenity. Irina is working primarily in oils in various genres, including portraits and figurative work, florals, still lives and landscapes. Recently she is exploring pastels, a new medium for her, which is experiencing Renaissance in the United States and which has been more widely adopted in Europe. Irina is also using digital media as her tool of storytelling to touch the audience’s hearts. Being equally good in traditional media and in digital arts, Irina explored a newly found ground in digital illustration by writing, illustrating, designing and publishing a new children’s book Balloon at Noon and Other Stories. Irina’s main influences, at least for the moment, are the Florentine Renaissance painters of the 16th century Leonardo da Vinci, Tintoretto, Veronese, Titian, among others. She has found it gratifying to rediscover realism and to dedicate time to study and observe form, light and color. She is painting and drawing live models again to explore the subtle shadows, softness, and warmth of human flesh, as well as the texture and radiance of everyday objects. It feels as though it took Irina a long time, down an ever-winding road, to become a fine artist. There were many detours along. acrylic 11 x 14" My passion in creating art is to experiment with different surfaces, media and techniques. I follow spontaneous perceptions and inspirations to create my abstract paintings and to catch the viewer’s eye. The energy of colors, the material and the texture inspire me every day. This continuing, intimate process gives me the opportunity to add a unique, special effect to my abstract work. My art speaks for itself, is powerful and invites the viewer to interpretation using memories and experiences. There is no right or wrong. sculpture 15 x 10 x 15" Albert Einstein once wrote, "Look deep into nature and you will understand everything." I have looked at nature and seen much symbolism and metaphor for what is happening in the world today. My artwork focuses on the chaos, mystery, and whimsey in nature. The whimsey is sometimes dark, sometimes not, but always points to the foibles of human nature. Nature is innately smarter than man. It has solved many problems we are grappling with. Perhaps what surrounds us is the secret to survival. Nature has the ability to evolve and adapt to change the environmental conditions. It has slowly adapted to climate change hastened by man, but will it continue to? My ever-evolving artwork has become more activist and narrative driven, and explores some of these ideas and more. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
-
sculpture 10 x 12 x 7" I create expressive sculptural forms from natural materials, drawing inspiration from both nature and the human figure, yet venturing toward abstraction. The essence of my work often embodies a biomorphic aesthetic, offering a tangible representation of our human connection to the environment. The idiosyncrasies of each piece of stone or wood present unique technical and creative opportunities. I approach this with a blend of intuitive and calculated design solutions, constantly seeking to unveil the spirit inherent in each material. Employing pneumatic and electrical tools, I meticulously finalize the finish through hand polishing. When I engage directly with the process, it transcends to an unconscious state of mind. I commence by studying the stone or piece of wood—observing its shape, color, and constitution. I inquire, 'What is it telling me?' and envision how I can breathe life into it through movement, revealing the beauty concealed within and the spirit that resonates with the viewer. The stone both inspires and teases me. As I progress with a particular vision, I sometimes find myself uncovering an entirely different one. The process of carving into a piece of living, natural material elicits moments of joy and excitement, intertwined with periods of doubt and struggle. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

encaustic 7 x 5" One of the things I enjoy about traveling is finding new sources of inspiration for my artwork. It’s exciting to find subject matter completely different from my own New York environment. Years ago, while raising my daughters, I put painting on hold and turned to photography, developing and printing my own black and white photographs. I eventually returned to painting and today the darkroom is obsolete, but I have found a way to incorporate my love of photography with my love of painting. I utilize the photographic images to create encaustic pieces. The process involves turning a color photograph into a high resolution, black and white image. That image is then printed on white paper and burnished into the already painted, warm wax surface, on the encaustic board. The paper is then gently removed by wetting it, and rubbing it off, leaving the ink behind. After that process is finished I may add more paint to the surface. It is also possible to create more texture with the wax if that is what is needed. Encaustic, when polished, has a luminescence not seen in other mediums. acrylic 14 x 11" Inspired by the Spanish artist Goya and the French artist Chardin's still-life paintings, Amber explores themes of death and deterioration in her paintings. Her artworks are in every way unlike traditional still life paintings, they are raw and brutal, provocative in their simplicity and directness. Amber's paintings are at once both macabre and stunningly alluring. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

mixed media 14 x 14" As a multimedia artist living in Brewster Massachusetts, I draw freely from all the various disciplines of art. Using a computer as both a tool and a collaborator, I layer my original photographs, textures, and drawings together in Photoshop. These separate elements often combine in surprising ways. Working intuitively, I allow for mystery and unpredictability to dictate where the process leads. Living on Cape Cod, I am dazzled by the many moods of the ocean. Perhaps the most spectacular is the power of a storm. To capture my impressions of the drama, I begin with a large paintbrush and black ink. I imagine waves pounding the shore as I splash the ink across the paper. These images are scanned into my computer and arranged in layers one over another using Photoshop. Additional layers of color are added until I feel I have captured the spirit, power and essence of a wave. pastel 11 x 14" I have developed a group of totally imaginary magically realistic oil paintings that I call my “Water Circus” series. The joy of taking a man-made or natural object and creating something new and fresh is very appealing to me. I allow myself a chance to play, to feel the rhythm of their form and reveal the hidden image in a new and unique way. I like to leave all possibilities open, to start unattached to the outcome, with everything totally permitted, thus enabling me to fully enjoy the process of discovery. I make my own paint by hand mixing dry pigments with burnt plate oil (a refined linseed oil used as the binder for etching ink). Because of this, I use thin glazes of the primary colors, add Liquin to hasten the drying, and build multiple layers of opaque values of each color in the egg tempera technique manner. The finished color relationships are always a surprise. This painting is a portrait of characters developed in this series. pastel 12 x 9" The natural world always inspires me to paint with pastels. Cobalt reflections was inspired by a local hike after a recent snowfall. The blue sky reflections in the water with the rust colored leaves below the water attracted me to the location. The remaining scene unfolded before me and I knew I would paint it. sculpture 3 x 5 x 5" Freshly graduated from music school and looking to establish a vocal /piano career I took a job as lead solderer for Hart Stained Glass. While discovering that I didn’t love production work, I did fall in love with glass and metal. I have been learning from these materials in a wide variety of processes and techniques ever since. I create both decorative objects and contemporary art pieces. I am inspired natural organic forms,Wall art includes encaustic, oil and watercolors. Enameling and metal work requires patience, precision, and surrender on the part of the artist. Both glass and metal are, like nature, at times malleable and at times unyielding. Currently I create in my home studio in Woodstock CT and my shared Enamel studio “Fire and Light” in Worcester MA. Nest was created from vitreous enamel, gold foil, copper, copper wire, brass wire. digital 12 x 12" Diana de Avila is an artist based in Sarasota, FL, who embarked on her artistic journey in 2017. During that time, Diana faced the challenges of relapsing multiple sclerosis (MS) and worsening traumatic brain injury (TBI). However, amidst these difficulties, her artistic gift suddenly and explosively emerged, fueled by acquired savant syndrome and synesthesia. Despite lacking formal training, de Avila has created over 2000 digital art pieces rooted in fractal geometry, drawing inspiration from the convergence of quantum physics, chaos theory, and divine order. Her cosmic digital art, both dynamic and serene, delves into various technological expressions of art. Within the artistic movement "Techspressionism," founded by Colin Goldberg, she has found her "tribe," continually pushing the boundaries of her digital art and exploring innovative approaches to creation. Diana holds the title of Signature member in the National Association of Women Artists (NAWA) and is a National League of American Pen Women (NLAPW) member. She is also part of the Sarasota artist collective known as SArtQ and is represented by DEFINE Art Gallery in Sarasota, FL. digital 9 x 12.6" In my digital work my inspiration is my imagination. These images are from my imagination. I also do digital paintings from real life. I am an oil painter when not on my iPad. I enjoy the immediacy of digital. Most of my digital images are created after a day in the studio painting in oil. oil 12 x 12" My artwork is about personal connection - to each other, to the space around us, and to the things within it. I use color in my work to represent life and emotion, and to create make-believe places. They are dreamlike worlds I fill with pattern, shape and semi-recognizable objects. I hope the ambiguity in my work allows the viewer to find their own story in it. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

mixed media 13.5 x 7" Connected/Disconnected Quote: ‘He stared at his phone like it was a magic eight ball. And on that day in a matter of seconds Mr. Harrigan predicted the future. The future of the internet, the future of the news, of fake news, social media, of pay walls and spam, of Julian Assange and Edward Snowdon and the world.’ John Lee Hancock, from the movie adaptation of Mr. Harrigans Phone and a novella of the same title by Stephen King. We all now stand heads bent paying homage to the world in our hands, ignoring all the rest of the world around us. sculpture 14 x 15 x 7" I created Healing Hands after I had gone through two years of grueling, intense, hand therapy to regain the use of my left hand, which I almost severed in a near-fatal studio accident. The original sculpture intuitively flowed from the chisels. It was a spiritual experience to have the piece evolve without hesitation. The original marble sculpture was cut in a pristine white, Colorado Yule Marble. I have cast bronzes of the original sculpture, which is owned by my brilliant hand therapist-- who healed the hand and the spirit at the same time. It is a possibility that this piece will be cast large-scale in the future. Today I am still carving one-of-a-kind stone pieces--two which have been commissioned as five-foot bronzes. A third twelve foot bronze is being developed and will go to production in the next few months. The three sculptures will be the focal points for a sculpture garden in Knoxville, Tennessee. They are due for installation in 2025. Having just reached the ripe old age of 81, I am happy to say that I am still able to follow my passion. Each day is most definitely a gift! pastel 12 x 9" There are two ways I approach my paintings. With abstract paintings, I start with no plan. I start with mark making, texture and/or paints, inks, etc. and let my intuition guide me. I may use acrylic, oil, ink, watercolor, pastel, colored pencil, or all, along with many materials I’ve collected to add texture. I love this approach because it is so freeing. I love the play of bright colors against neutrals, dark against light, texture against smooth. I may end up with a painting I like or I may not. If not, I keep working and adding layers/scraping away until I do. Painting like this sometimes seems to be about solving problems, using my technical skills, letting my intuition guide me. With abstracts, I'm usually inspired by a strong emotion I'm feeling. The visual has more of an impact in expression than words do. The mind is too involved with words, but with visuals, so many senses and subconscious feelings come into play. I paint landscapes by planning a scene that captures; playing with different color schemes that best express what I see, doing sketches to determine the best layout and composition. The painting may or may not follow the course I planned. I get excited about the contrast between shadows and light coming from behind, or the surprising amount of color in an ocean wave, or the moodiness of a sky. sculpture 11 x 9 x 11" It is often hard to appreciate the seasons of life, the aging, the changing, the growing, the adapting, and the coping. But the pain disappears when I remember there is a reason for each season, and it is merely so we can get to the next - Winter is here in hibernation; thinking and breathing; storing energy; coiling it up for the destined release. drawing 9 x 12" The ink drawing of the Lumberville, PA Foot Bridge is a simplified, almost Zen like attempt to honor an early suspension cable bridge designed by John A. Roebling, the architect of the Brooklyn Bridge. Roebling was the inventor of the suspension cable and needed to test the cables to make sure they were strong enough to sustain a bridge. The first suspension cable bridge he designed was the foot bridge located in Lumberville PA. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

printmaking 5.25 x 6" Printmaking has a huge number of subcategories. Among other techniques, I enjoy both carving plates (as in linoleum, gomuban or woodblock) and inscribing them (as on metal or plexiglas). Then of course, next comes printing them in varied colors, combinations or papers, sometimes adding another medium, such as watercolor. Inspirations are varied, often reflecting the moment of time, place and activity, whether domestic, nature, sport or music. Engaging in artistic reflection is a way to improve observation, capture a memory, and invite a viewer to see through one's eyes. encaustic 8 x 6" In my current work I am exploring cellular shifts and the many changes that affect our thinking, food, environment and daily life. We are swept away by images flooding our phones and on screens everywhere. I try and step back and reflect on the driving forces beneath view or below our conscious musings. I work in layers whether in monotype, collage or encaustic to represent these layers of meaning. Scraping away wax, adding layers in the press and obscuring text with collage seems to suit my eclectic brain. I want my viewers to stop and look and be surprised at these small works. I use symbols, text and images to tell a larger story. I want to draw in views so that the more they look the more they will see.
