My paintings celebrate those moments when our compassion for others illuminates and transforms us and the world around us. These acts of love and kindness are often unnoticed and forgotten. The women in my work are nurturers and peacemakers. Since ancient times women have personified compassion, wisdom and peace.

I am a storyteller and my paintings have been described as “visual poetry”. Stories help us to remember that we are all connected, and what affects one of us, affects all of us. They have the power to inspire us to create the inner peace that sows the seeds for compassion for others.

Our intimate connection with nature and our role as nurturers and protectors are reoccurring themes in my work. Albert Schweitzer once said that until we extend the circle of our compassion to all living things, we will not find peace.

Acrylics and oils are my primary media. Drawing is a defining element for me, I begin by blocking out major shapes with a strong dark line. Using linear brushstrokes that create movement, unity and rhythm, I add multiple layers of color, texture, pattern and sometimes canvas, continually refining my original drawing. My goal is to tell a universal story of compassion, peace and joy.
