Photography 24 x 18"Queen Anne’s Staircase, in my eye, is a perfect example of Depth Perception. As we climbed the staircase in this building, it was hard to see to the top and imagine how high it must be. The architect created a masterpiece of design, with just the right amount of height and width while embellishing it with a floral motif. As a photographer I tried to capture this beauty using a wide angle lens and removed all color tones to replicate the cold starkness that I felt as we ascended.

Photography 18 x 24"Recently I had the privilege of visiting magnificent Wadi Rum desert in Jordan. This magical land features sweeping red sand dunes and towering sandstone and huge granite rock formations. In this World Heritage site, I was able to experience humanity’s earliest beginnings. By placing my camera as close to the earth as possible and using a small lens aperture, my depth of field was expansive. I was able to accomplish my goal: to bring the present and future together - to emphasize the dunes while still showing the vistas in the distance.

Seated Nude White Stoneware Sculpture Size: 7 x 9.5 x 7.25 When I start working with a model, I make a few sketches to see how she poses and how the forms come together and her personal gestures. In this case, I liked the sketch as much as I liked the more finished piece, and I wanted to share that experience. Conversation Glazed Stoneware with overglaze Size of Piece: 14 x 12 Gesture is everything in figurative sculpture. The smallest details are important. The curve of a hip, the position of one finger can alter meaning. I find sculpture fascinating in the way that it exists in real space with us, and how that proximity triggers connection with our minds, our eyes, our memories, and our feelings. glazed stoneware 17 x 6 x 6" After the pandemic I was feeling protective of myself and my friends and family. I had been doing nudes for a long time, but it didn't feel appropriate anymore. I made a series of these sentinels. They are combined thrown and modeled forms. i see them as entities that will look over us and out for us. Making them made me feel better.

silver solder & copper over wood 104 x 78 x 8" This sculpture is a data visualization of Anne's workload during the COVID lockdown. Anne is the mother of two young children, and during COVID she took on the roles of schoolteacher and household manager for her family of four who were now in the house every day, all the time. Stay-at-home parenting is a rigorous undertaking in the best of circumstances, and with no in-person school or childcare help, it became an all-consuming grind. In Anne’s sculpture, all work hours are unpaid. Larger silver spheres represent a full hour of unpaid labor and smaller spheres represent a half hour of unpaid labor. The very few empty spaces represent an hour when Anne was not working.

Whispers Beneath the Surfacefiber fabric artSize: 36 x 24I’m a textile artist who is inspired by the world around me, especially by nature. I look at my surroundings with inquisitive eyes and mind, with curiosity, knowing there are hidden treasures to be found and turned into art. My artistic approach is mostly intuitive with a constant awareness of color combination and contrast. The use of strong colors is a direct influence of my Brazilian heritage. Using fabric as the medium to create my art pieces was a natural choice since I have been working with it from my teenage years. My creative process can be described in two phases. The first one is the combination of inspiration and visualization of an art piece. The second phase is transforming what I visualized into actual artwork. It requires selecting fabrics as close as possible to my vision, adjusting, and sometimes, starting all over again.

Mixed Media Painting 36 x 24 x 1 in. Explanation for Secrets among Blossoms- Life is a canvas splashed with unexpected twists. Those who master the art of embracing uncertainty and forging ahead are the ones who truly survive. Each heart is a wondrous chest, overflowing with secrets. The outward beauty may enchant the eye, yet beneath the surface lie veiled wounds and hidden mysteries. Secrets Among Blossoms Acrylics and Watercolor on Aqua-board Size of Piece: 36 x 24 x 1.5 Secrets among Blossoms- Life is a canvas splashed with unexpected twists. Those who master the art of embracing uncertainty and forging ahead are the ones who truly survive. Each heart is a wondrous chest, overflowing with secrets. The outward beauty may enchant the eye, yet beneath the surface lie veiled wounds and hidden mysteries. Frozen Blooms- is about the quiet toll of life’s hardships. The woman holds a bouquet of flowers—symbols of beauty and hope—but she doesn’t seem to feel their warmth. Her gaze is distant, her expression unreadable, as if the struggles she’s faced have left her numb. The deep purple tones wrap around her like a lingering sadness, while the bright yellow background reminds us that life’s warmth still exists, even when it feels out of reach. This painting speaks to those moments when we carry beauty in our hands but feel unable to embrace it, when the weight of our past makes it hard to see the light ahead. acrylic 18 x 24 x 1.75" Convergence is the culmination of many hours of blending directly on the canvas. My process begins by selecting a color scheme and limiting myself to using only those colors plus neutrals. I work intuitively, applying paint then stepping back to analyze until I see no further changes to be made. The complementary colors in Convergence seemed to flow in a pattern which reminded me of rivers merging together in a confluence.

acrylic & gel medium on canvas 20 x 20 x 1.5" The initial inspiration for this painting came from some of the beautiful images seen from the James Webb Space Telescope. My goal was to mix texture and colors to highlight the counterplay of the darkness of space and the amazing light and colors captured in those images. The texture creates a sense of motion with the focal point representing the revelation of a distant source of light. The creatures that inhabit this world appear during the process of creation and are not planned but embellished later. Oil and Gold Leaf on Panel Bittersweet Size: 36 x 24 Framed Size: 36.5 x 24.5 The Bittersweet flower has been known to represent truth, persistence and resilience. The truth often being bittersweet. In this painting the woman holds the (flower of) truth and fights off the chaos in the world as represented by the geese with 'truth'. I feel truth is hard to come by and expensive today to verify, but is essential to shifting the balance of good/evil in the world towards good. Truth gives us strength and power even though it may be much smaller than the evil it fights. Geese for me represent chaos and are a local resident of my studio. I composed the image after the conception of the idea. The figure is an invention and is not a portrait of anyone in particular. oil on oil primed linen 40 x 30 x 2" Inspired by a recurring dream, I am interested in past experiences and how they mold and form who we become. Childhood memories are often the source of meaning and inspiration for my work. I use a shallow space and multiple perspectives in my compositions, working partly from life and partly imagination. All imagery has a specific meaning to me personally but I do not wish to embed a narrative in the painting. The inspiration serves only as an excuse to make the painting.

watercolor 24 x 24 x 1" Lavender Square is one of the pieces in my petal series, which all started with a floral arrangement. Photographing it up close, I discovered how the slightest movement of the camera created an entirely new composition. I was fascinated by the amazing color and shape of each petal. This discovery marked the beginning of a floral journey, starting in acrylic, then venturing into oil and watercolor. My background is in graphic design where I developed a bold approach to color and form. Painting shape by shape, I strive to make each one beautifully blended, and build the final painting like a puzzle, balancing color and texture as I go.

Fiber Art 15 x 15" Creating The Great Divide was a fusion of my passion for mixed media, collage and meditative stitching. My process was quite intuitive, beginning with painted cheesecloth fabric and a palette of neutrals, blues and greens in fabric and a gel print on rice paper. After creating my collage, I began to stitch with thread. Not only did my stitching act as the “glue” for my collage, but it created mark making and texture. The strong cork fabric diagonal provided me with the title, The Great Divide.
