Creating The Great Divide was a fusion of my passion for mixed media, collage and meditative stitching. My process was quite intuitive, beginning with painted cheesecloth fabric and a palette of neutrals, blues and greens in fabric and a gel print on rice paper. After creating my collage, I began to stitch with thread. Not only did my stitching act as the “glue” for my collage, but it created mark making and texture. The strong cork fabric diagonal provided me with the title, The Great Divide.
