  • 2 Fer Photography Size of Piece: 24 x 36 I started my artist’s journey copying images of greeting cards in pencil before I was called to dinner. Later I was given an Instamatic camera for my seventh birthday, and I began to take pictures. Picture taking continues until this very day. My creative family of engineers, milliners and dress designers/fabricators. impacted by my artistic endeavors. During my early college years, I became infatuated with sailing, impacting my photography focus along with textiles using sails as a medium. • Crayola Photography, Digital Size of Piece: 18 x 12 x .000032

Years of experience in the profession of architecture and interior design inspire me to photograph buildings. I have a particular passion for weathered structurers; with colorful ones adding extra charm. The Caribbean is one of my favorite places to fulfill my vision. ‘Crayola’ and ‘George Street’ can be found in Nassau where there is a plethora of colonial English architecture infused with a vibrant tropical color palette. I pack my Nikon and wander the streets searching for potential subjects with sharp lines, high contrast and aim for compositions of colorful saturated blocks of adjacent solid planes.

  • photography 28 x 17 x 1.5" The thrill of speed, spray, and splash during a boating adventure are my favorite ways to spend a day. Equipped with my Nikon and a telephoto lens, I sat aft observing the ensigns' flow and flutter. I favor a telephoto lens for its ability to draw viewers into the scene, eliciting a reflective response to the imagery. This vision was captured aboard "Irish" off Camden, Maine, in West Penobscot Bay. Being on a US-flagged vessel gives me a profound sense of security. I aim to search for images that convey significant symbols reflective of how and where I live. The clarity of bright days contributes to fulfilling my artistic pursuit of simplicity, symbolism, and the evocation of thought.

  • Evening in Portofino
    Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 20 x 30" My work is about joy. It is about the practice of intentionally noticing and connecting to beauty all around us: a reflection on water, the summer evening light illuminating a sidewalk cafe, or the contrast of whitewashed dwellings with the cobalt blue ocean. I feel a deep and soulful response to this simple kind of beauty. It is profoundly personal. This is not about painting a pretty thing. This is a connection felt in a single glance. • acrylic painting with 3D leaves & branches 36 x 60 x 3"
I am always inspired by my onetime hometown of Kailua, Hawaii. I feel a profound connection to the island. The smells, breezes, colors, ocean and warm, wonderful people inspire me. It is not about making a pretty picture, it is about spiritual connection on a deep level. I have experienced healing there after devastating losses. It always fills me up, even when I didn't realize I was empty. My hope is to move the viewer in some way.

  • diptyque acrylic painting on canvas with 3D elements 24 x 40 x 2" My mixed media work is about the memory and feeling of joy. During recent health challenges (a mastectomy, chemo and radiation), I waited for 33 days for my oncology radiation treatments in a beige space without windows or artwork. After recovering, I received some paintings from a show in Connecticut. I offered to hang my pieces in the radiation oncology space. Most of my work is large and tropical in theme (we lived in Hawaii for many years), but it also includes pieces inspired from our world travels. I have received many letters, emails and comments from patients and staff alike as to how much better they feel in the space. It is a testament to the power of art and of giving back.

  • Charcoal and charcoal pencil on grey MiTeintes
    9 x 10.5"
I was drawn in by the peaceful expression of this man and was inspired to capture this mood on paper. Charcoal seemed best for the look I was going for so I started with a light drawing on MiTeintes and filled in the darker areas with charcoal, lifting with a kneaded eraser where needed to render the features as well as I could. I added a few final touches in white pencil.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Flights of Love Mixed Media: Wood Panel Size: 11 x 14 Susan Fleming/S Lance /Fleming My recent directions are evolving into new creative self expressions, including spiritual renditions which are discovered while using many applications of multiple media layers; often mixing charcoal, colored pencil, water color, acrylics, pastels, fiber collage collections, and photoshop manipulated original photos & sketches, as well as found objects: seed pods, bark, etc. The pieces seem to evolve through processes which are comprised of continuous intuitive decisions developing in harmony. Size: 14 x 11 In the spring when trees are in bloom all around our home, I am always intrigued by watching their leaves and flowers grow. In an area near our house we have White Birch trees, and the shedding of the bark has always fascinated me. It reminds me of snakes shedding their skin. I have always been inspired by nature and the textures of Flora and Fauna. While visiting various Gardens (Longwood, Morikami, NY Botanical and others around the country) I am drawn to the beauty and elegance of lilypods, water movement, flowers, leaves, stems and the metaphors of life they produce.. • digital photography 22 x 18" This image was taken while walking down a street in NYC near University Square. I saw the image of advertisement for the bra and then noticed the reflection of the car and old building. However, the reflection is what caught my eye., I have a series of work that captures reflections in water, windows and store fronts.

  • Sweeping the Church Steps Digital Photograph Size: 15 x 10 I enjoy photographing people on the street. Most of my current work is in the NYC area. I look for good locations and wait to find interesting people. What inspires me is how unpredictable people are and how spontaneous the process is. I look for places with interesting forms, color, light, and street geometry. Interactions between people can make for a strong photograph. Also, I never know how people will react to being photographed by me. I've had various reactions from people who pose and wave, to people who cover their faces. What has kept me going over the years was the excitement of being on the street and finding unpredictable encounters. • digital photography, Inkjet archival print
14 x 11 x 1" My passion for photographing people on the street started on a trip to Cuba in 2016. I saw the boy sitting behind a fence in a small park in Cuba.  The dappled light on him and the rest of the scene, is what made this shot so enchanting for me!

  • photography 8 x 12" I love photographing people on the street. This passion developed during travels to Mexico and Cuba. In the past few years, I have been photographing people on the streets of New York City. What excites and energizes me is how spontaneous the process is and how unpredictable people are. Sometimes people are unaware I've taken their picture. Others will agree to pose for several photos. I look for interesting places with interesting forms, light and geometry to serve as a background for the people I choose to photograph. What attracts me could be an expression, an action, detail, or reflection. • digital photography, Inkjet archival print 23.5 x 17.5 x 1"
I have always loved photographing people. What energizes me is how spontaneous the process is, and unpredictable people are. This photograph was taken, several years ago, on a Photography trip to Guatemala. I was struck by the light and shadow on the woman, the stairs, and arch, as she was sweeping the church steps. The scene that was in the background seemed to glow in the sunlight. It was a magical moment! These days you might find me with my camera, photographing people on the streets of NYC.

  • digital photography, Inkjet archival print 16 x 20 x 1" My photo 'Reminiscing' is based on an encounter with a woman, dressed mostly in black, sitting in front of the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC.. She agreed to pose for me and I took a few photos. She said she had been a student there, many years ago and the school enabled her to become a successful graphic designer. The other two photos were taken at a Long Island Peaceful Protest event in 2020, following the death of George Floyd.. 'Speaking Out' is a woman talking about justice and women's rights. 'Women's Rights' showed a woman with a baby on her back, speaking out about the need for equality in healthcare for women. She stated black women could not get the same quality care as whites, in pregnancy and childbirth.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • 35 mm full-frame digital camera, 7-14 wide angle lens 16 x 20 x 1" I like to capture the fast-paced dynamics of New York City street life. What is exciting and energizes me is how spontaneous the process is, and unpredictable people are. Some are completely unaware of being photographed, some may see me and pose and wave, others may be hostile to what they consider an intrusion. On occasion, I may stop and ask someone if they would let me take their photo. I look for places with interesting forms, light, and street geometry for a good background to the people I photograph. • Photography 15 x 15 in. I like to capture the fast-paced dynamics of street life. What is exciting and energizes me is how spontaneous the process is and unpredictable people are. Some, as the ‘Street Sweeper’, are completely unaware of being photographed. I sometimes stop and ask someone if I could photograph them. I generally like to photograph on sunny days, which gives increased contrast in light and shadows. Places with interesting forms, light, and street geometry provide a good background and foreground to the people I choose to photograph. The selected photograph, ‘Street Sweeper’ was taken in 2018, on a trip to Mexico. I felt the color and geometry of the buildings provided a great background to this working man.

  • Approaching Storm, Marina Day's End
    Watercolor
Size: 9 x 12 This was an Adirondacks plein air location, on Lake Champlain as a storm approached at the of the day. Boats rushed in and then tied up tight and sudden quiet tension, bracing for the storm. I worked to get it done and dismantle the easel before the first drop of rain. Stormy times we are living in now and when this was painted not long ago. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • watercolor 15 x 20"
I painted this outside at my easel along the Hudson River, facing north on a chilly January day. Winter had definitely come to the river. The boats were put away and winter skies can be so interesting--such expanse and drama, as well as the water’s interaction, while holding the skies up.

  • watercolor 12 x 9 x 1" I created this piece in a studio session with a live model, which is a favorite way to work, with a breathing person in front of you for only a short while. Watercolor is my primary medium, which enables a quickness and practiced looseness to capture an impression of the subject before me. I wanted to express the boldness of the somewhat relaxed pose. This women is determined not to be a victim and to make her own choices.

  • hand cut collage on paper, handcolored 17 x 14 x .1" Women’s Rights issues have been top of mind for many of us. Along with an actual plague, the overturning of Roe V Wade and continuous misogyny has afflicted our nation and preoccupied my art practice. I decided to express my frustration and rage concerning our country's division and lack of empathy through collage. Using vintage imagery with contemporary themes in red, white, blue and black, and hand coloring with ink, colored pencil and acrylic paint, a political collage series was born. I hope to draw attention to the unfortunate retrogression of female rights in America. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • Interiors #3
    acrylic on canvas painting
    Size: 24 x 24
INTERIORS is a series of eight paintings of oversized and close up views seen from the heart of one Poinciana tree that grows in my front yard. Viewed from within the tree, intense light pours around petals and leaves, reveals delicate lacey patterns, bulging seedpods, and deeply corroded bark. From this intimate perspective, one discovers compositions abstracted by scale and lack of context, different from the tree we thought we knew, a view more often seen by ants and lizards on the Poinciana highway. The parts and pieces, whether recognizable or not, take on a life of their own and become parts of a complex puzzle. The attraction is not in recognizing a named, beautiful thing, but in opening one’s eyes to the incredible richness of natural images framed for the viewer by the artist. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • acrylic 24 x 24 x 1.5"
Images in this series were based on photographs I obtained by climbing up a large Poinciana tree. By cropping down to the bare essentials, the results were somewhat abstract.

  • Unstill Life#2
oil on stitched canvas and bridal veil fragment
    Size: 29 x 22
The painted constructions emerge as transmutations of my most resounding responses to the world around and within me. They are not mere representations but transformative expressions born from profound encounters with the natural world. These works memorialize instances of revelation that occur in the space between observation and understanding—ephemeral moments that would otherwise slip away unrecorded. My artistic practice weaves together accumulated experiences, approaching that sense of truth discovered only when fully immersed in the artistic elements. In these moments of complete sensory engagement—when one is simultaneously aware of nature's boundless energy, the boundaries between self and environment dissolve. This construction serves as a vessel for that transcendent understanding that emerges when the senses are fully enmeshed in the natural world. It invites viewers to access their moments of revelation through the layered, textural dialogue between material and memory. Shadows are the natural consequence of being.
