2 Fer Photography Size of Piece: 24 x 36 I started my artist’s journey copying images of greeting cards in pencil before I was called to dinner. Later I was given an Instamatic camera for my seventh birthday, and I began to take pictures. Picture taking continues until this very day. My creative family of engineers, milliners and dress designers/fabricators. impacted by my artistic endeavors. Crayola Photography, Digital Size of Piece: 18 x 12 x .000032
Years of experience in the profession of architecture and interior design inspire me to photograph buildings. I have a particular passion for weathered structurers; with colorful ones adding extra charm. The Caribbean is one of my favorite places to fulfill my vision. ‘Crayola’ and ‘George Street’ can be found in Nassau where there is a plethora of colonial English architecture infused with a vibrant tropical color palette. I pack my Nikon and wander the streets searching for potential subjects with sharp lines, high contrast and aim for compositions of colorful saturated blocks of adjacent solid planes.

photography 28 x 17 x 1.5" The thrill of speed, spray, and splash during a boating adventure are my favorite ways to spend a day. Equipped with my Nikon and a telephoto lens, I sat aft observing the ensigns' flow and flutter. I favor a telephoto lens for its ability to draw viewers into the scene, eliciting a reflective response to the imagery. This vision was captured aboard "Irish" off Camden, Maine, in West Penobscot Bay. Being on a US-flagged vessel gives me a profound sense of security. I aim to search for images that convey significant symbols reflective of how and where I live. The clarity of bright days contributes to fulfilling my artistic pursuit of simplicity, symbolism, and the evocation of thought.

acrylic painting with 3D leaves & branches 36 x 60 x 3"I am always inspired by my onetime hometown of Kailua, Hawaii. I feel a profound connection to the island. The smells, breezes, colors, ocean and warm, wonderful people inspire me. It is not about making a pretty picture, it is about spiritual connection on a deep level. I have experienced healing there after devastating losses. It always fills me up, even when I didn't realize I was empty. My hope is to move the viewer in some way.

diptyque acrylic painting on canvas with 3D elements 24 x 40 x 2" My mixed media work is about the memory and feeling of joy. During recent health challenges (a mastectomy, chemo and radiation), I waited for 33 days for my oncology radiation treatments in a beige space without windows or artwork. After recovering, I received some paintings from a show in Connecticut. I offered to hang my pieces in the radiation oncology space. Most of my work is large and tropical in theme (we lived in Hawaii for many years), but it also includes pieces inspired from our world travels. I have received many letters, emails and comments from patients and staff alike as to how much better they feel in the space. It is a testament to the power of art and of giving back.

Contemplation Oil on Canvas Size of Piece: 20 x 16
I was inspired by the contrast of the model against the light background, and the shadows that were created by the light source. My creative process was to establish the lights and darks. These are the vehicles to determine the correct values, I aimed to capture the confident, contemplative expression of the model.

Flights of Love Mixed Media: Wood Panel Size: 11 x 14 Susan Fleming/S Lance /Fleming My recent directions are evolving into new creative self expressions, including spiritual renditions which are discovered while using many applications of multiple media layers; often mixing charcoal, colored pencil, water color, acrylics, pastels, fiber collage collections, and photoshop manipulated original photos & sketches, as well as found objects: seed pods, bark, etc. The pieces seem to evolve through processes which are comprised of continuous intuitive decisions developing in harmony. I do not have predetermined outcomes. I truly enjoy this ceaseless urge toward fresh original abstract creations. I pray my art endeavors emotionally engage the viewers’ inner soul/spirit and encourages personal healing, hope, and inspiration. digital photography 22 x 18" This image was taken while walking down a street in NYC near University Square. I saw the image of advertisement for the bra and then noticed the reflection of the car and old building. At first I thought WOW - something old, something new, something borrowed (or rented like the car), but nothing blue. However, the reflection is what caught my eye., I have a series of work that captures reflections in water, windows and store fronts.

Sweeping the Church Steps Digital Photograph Size: 15 x 10 I enjoy photographing people on the street. Most of my current work is in the NYC area. I look for good locations and wait to find interesting people. What inspires me is how unpredictable people are and how spontaneous the process is. I look for places with interesting forms, color, light, and street geometry. Interactions between people can make for a strong photograph. Also, I never know how people will react to being photographed by me. I've had various reactions from people who pose and wave, to people who cover their faces. What has kept me going over the years was the excitement of being on the street and finding unpredictable encounters. photography 8 x 12" I love photographing people on the street. This passion developed during travels to Mexico and Cuba. In the past few years, I have been photographing people on the streets of New York City. What excites and energizes me is how spontaneous the process is and how unpredictable people are. Sometimes people are unaware I've taken their picture. Others will agree to pose for several photos. I look for interesting places with interesting forms, light and geometry to serve as a background for the people I choose to photograph. What attracts me could be an expression, an action, detail, or reflection. You may often find me on the streets of New York capturing the fast-paced dynamics of life there. 35 mm full-frame digital camera, 7-14 wide angle lens 16 x 20 x 1" I like to capture the fast-paced dynamics of New York City street life. What is exciting and energizes me is how spontaneous the process is, and unpredictable people are. Some are completely unaware of being photographed, some may see me and pose and wave, others may be hostile to what they consider an intrusion. On occasion, I may stop and ask someone if they would let me take their photo. I look for places with interesting forms, light, and street geometry for a good background to the people I photograph. Photography 15 x 15 in. I like to capture the fast-paced dynamics of street life. What is exciting and energizes me is how spontaneous the process is and unpredictable people are. Some, as the ‘Street Sweeper’, are completely unaware of being photographed. I sometimes stop and ask someone if I could photograph them. I generally like to photograph on sunny days, which gives increased contrast in light and shadows. Places with interesting forms, light, and street geometry provide a good background and foreground to the people I choose to photograph. The selected photograph, ‘Street Sweeper’ was taken in 2018, on a trip to Mexico. I felt the color and geometry of the buildings provided a great background to this working man.

watercolor 12 x 9 x 1" I created this piece in a studio session with a live model, which is a favorite way to work, with a breathing person in front of you for only a short while. Watercolor is my primary medium, which enables a quickness and practiced looseness to capture an impression of the subject before me. I wanted to express the boldness of the somewhat relaxed pose. This women is determined not to be a victim and to make her own choices.

Unstill Life#2oil on stitched canvas and bridal veil fragmentSize: 29 x 22The painted constructions emerge as transmutations of my most resounding responses to the world around and within me. They are not mere representations but transformative expressions born from profound encounters with the natural world. These works memorialize instances of revelation that occur in the space between observation and understanding—ephemeral moments that would otherwise slip away unrecorded. My artistic practice weaves together accumulated experiences, approaching that sense of truth discovered only when fully immersed in the artistic elements. In these moments of complete sensory engagement—when one is simultaneously aware of nature's boundless energy, the boundaries between self and environment dissolve. This construction serves as a vessel for that transcendent understanding that emerges when the senses are fully enmeshed in the natural world. It invites viewers to access their moments of revelation through the layered, textural dialogue between material and memory. Shadows are the natural consequence of being.
