  • digital photography 22 x 18" This image was taken while walking down a street in NYC near University Square. I saw the image of advertisement for the bra and then noticed the reflection of the car and old building. At first I thought WOW - something old, something new, something borrowed (or rented like the car), but nothing blue. However, the reflection is what caught my eye., I have a series of work that captures reflections in water, windows and store fronts.

  • Sweeping the Church Steps Digital Photograph Size: 15 x 10 I enjoy photographing people on the street. Most of my current work is in the NYC area. I look for good locations and wait to find interesting people. What inspires me is how unpredictable people are and how spontaneous the process is. I look for places with interesting forms, color, light, and street geometry. Interactions between people can make for a strong photograph. Also, I never know how people will react to being photographed by me. I've had various reactions from people who pose and wave, to people who cover their faces. What has kept me going over the years was the excitement of being on the street and finding unpredictable encounters. 14 x 11 x 1" My passion for photographing people on the street started on a trip to Cuba in 2016. I saw the boy sitting behind a fence in a small park in Cuba.  The dappled light on him and the rest of the scene, is what made this shot so enchanting for me!

I am always attracted to colorful subjects, and this Cuban woman made a great subject. I loved the colors and the way the smoke curled around her face. Her extremely long nails were also unusual.

  • photography 8 x 12" I love photographing people on the street. This passion developed during travels to Mexico and Cuba. In the past few years, I have been photographing people on the streets of New York City. What excites and energizes me is how spontaneous the process is and how unpredictable people are. Sometimes people are unaware I've taken their picture. Others will agree to pose for several photos. I look for interesting places with interesting forms, light and geometry to serve as a background for the people I choose to photograph. What attracts me could be an expression, an action, detail, or reflection. You may often find me on the streets of New York capturing the fast-paced dynamics of life there.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

I have always loved photographing people. What energizes me is how spontaneous the process is, and unpredictable people are. This photograph was taken, several years ago, on a Photography trip to Guatemala. I was struck by the light and shadow on the woman, the stairs, and arch, as she was sweeping the church steps. The scene that was in the background seemed to glow in the sunlight. It was a magical moment! These days you might find me with my camera, photographing people on the streets of NYC.

  • digital photography, Inkjet archival print 16 x 20 x 1" My photo 'Reminiscing' is based on an encounter with a woman, dressed mostly in black, sitting in front of the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC.. She agreed to pose for me and I took a few photos. She said she had been a student there, many years ago and the school enabled her to become a successful graphic designer. The other two photos were taken at a Long Island Peaceful Protest event in 2020, following the death of George Floyd.. 'Speaking Out' is a woman talking about justice and women's rights. 'Women's Rights' showed a woman with a baby on her back, speaking out about the need for equality in healthcare for women. She stated black women could not get the same quality care as whites, in pregnancy and childbirth.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • 35 mm full-frame digital camera, 7-14 wide angle lens 16 x 20 x 1" I like to capture the fast-paced dynamics of New York City street life. What is exciting and energizes me is how spontaneous the process is, and unpredictable people are. Some are completely unaware of being photographed, some may see me and pose and wave, others may be hostile to what they consider an intrusion. On occasion, I may stop and ask someone if they would let me take their photo. I look for places with interesting forms, light, and street geometry for a good background to the people I photograph. • Photography 15 x 15 in. I like to capture the fast-paced dynamics of street life. What is exciting and energizes me is how spontaneous the process is and unpredictable people are. Some, as the ‘Street Sweeper’, are completely unaware of being photographed. I sometimes stop and ask someone if I could photograph them. I generally like to photograph on sunny days, which gives increased contrast in light and shadows. Places with interesting forms, light, and street geometry provide a good background and foreground to the people I choose to photograph. The selected photograph, ‘Street Sweeper’ was taken in 2018, on a trip to Mexico. I felt the color and geometry of the buildings provided a great background to this working man.

  • watercolor 15 x 20"
I painted this outside at my easel along the Hudson River, facing north on a chilly January day. Winter had definitely come to the river. The boats were put away and winter skies can be so interesting--such expanse and drama, as well as the water’s interaction, while holding the skies up.

  • watercolor 12 x 9 x 1" I created this piece in a studio session with a live model, which is a favorite way to work, with a breathing person in front of you for only a short while. Watercolor is my primary medium, which enables a quickness and practiced looseness to capture an impression of the subject before me. I wanted to express the boldness of the somewhat relaxed pose. This women is determined not to be a victim and to make her own choices.

  • hand cut collage on paper, handcolored 17 x 14 x .1" Women’s Rights issues have been top of mind for many of us. Along with an actual plague, the overturning of Roe V Wade and continuous misogyny has afflicted our nation and preoccupied my art practice. I decided to express my frustration and rage concerning our country's division and lack of empathy through collage. Using vintage imagery with contemporary themes in red, white, blue and black, and hand coloring with ink, colored pencil and acrylic paint, a political collage series was born. I hope to draw attention to the unfortunate retrogression of female rights in America. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • digital archival photograph 8 x 9" I have spent much of my adult life photographing. I shoot anything that interests me, but over the years I have developed several specific portfolios that deal with my observations of city and country life: Street Seen, Rain, Graffiti, Torn Elegance and Reflections (puddles, buildings, ponds, stores) to name just a few. I have tried to teach myself to be a constant observer, searching always for new ways to interpret the customary. I see beauty in puddles, and have spent a lot of time gazing at, or photographing through wet surfaces. I ask the viewer join me and contemplate how things are magnificently transformed when one is looking “through” water-whether via puddle or pond reflections, or by simply gazing at a wet window during a rainstorm. Observed this way, all is transitory and ephemeral—perhaps a surreal, alternate reality, if you allow yourself to be drawn in by it. In my “Street Seen” series, I explore the lines and shapes that have been created over time, due to the effects of weather, traffic and corrosion. These crossing lines, or walkways that have eroded, are open to literal, figurative or conceptual interpretations. For me, they are found abstract compositions. I isolate small portions, hoping that to present these ubiquitous markings from another perspective. In short, I search for the aesthetic possibilities in mundane things that are often overlooked by people rushing by. I consider that which passers by have seen/not seen a million times. I hope to transcend the “ordinary” of the commonplace, and afford the willing viewer an opportunity to contemplate the world in a fresh way. • digital archive photograph 20 x 16 x 1" From my observation point, the staircase seemed to have a feminine, curvaceous presence. The interplay of the lines, shapes and twists was fascinating. It's not a subject that I usually photograph but the perspective was unique and appealing. The colors were muted in an almost dreamlike way, giving the whole scene a surreal feeling.

24 x 24 x 2" A fleeting instant seizes my awareness, ensnaring my focus with its captivating allure. It could manifest as a harmonious composition, a symphony of hues, or a transient observation reverberating with a smoldering emotion's echoes. The impulse to metamorphose this ephemeral vision into a tangible form eclipses my cognitive and emotional terrain, propelling me into creative fervor. In that moment, the world around me dissolves, and I become an alchemist, transmuting the intangible into a visceral, evocative expression that captures the essence of that singular, transcendent experience.

  • oil 30 x 24 x 1.5" The world I encounter daily brings me in touch with the delights of colors and shapes. Rounded forms have, of late, stimulated participation in the circular movements of life – the coming round to something or spinning out of control. I bounce, roll, wobble, and delight in using color to enhance this movement and give the shapes a dynamic, often tactile, visual effect.

  • oil on canvas 30 x 24 x 1.5" My current interest is in the expression of emotional reactions to my environment -- the context of my experience of events or ideas. My vision of the world is pared down to its essence and the abstractions that emerge in this series inform my own understanding of the way in which I encounter the world. My personal milieu and my engagement within it form an organizing framework for explorations of evocative anecdotes – suggestions of being in a particular place and in a particular state of mind.

  • Mexican Dancer Digital Photograph Size of Piece: 17.25 x 12.5 x 1 I love photographing people on the street. "Mexican Dancer", one of my earliest works was taken in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, and it was during a show that took place on the beach. The beautiful colors of the dancer's dress, as well as the elegant motion, inspired me to take this portrait. I waited for the moment she paused after the dance was over. This piece did take a bit of post processing, to darken the background, which was very busy. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

I create feeling and expression with the use of sensitive line, with bold solid passages. I work with mixed media on paper. Two figures silhouetted on the beach, the sun is going down. • ink on wood, graphite on rice paper with gold, copper and silver foil 12 x 12 x 1.5" I find in inspirational to work with new and different materials as a figurative artist. I had many books of foil that my father had given me, and I thought it would be wonderful to incorporate them into a piece of art, while think of my father while doing so. Foil is difficult medium to use, and I wanted to feel that I was using it in a new way. I inked wood with Chinese ink to give depth and worked from there. I then worked graphite on Chinese paper to get the effect I wanted. I have 2 more work to make a series of 3.

  • paste & ink on Arches paper 42 x 108" Quoddy I was created in the summer of 2022. I drove to downeast Lubec, Maine and over several days, I made ten "walk and draw" studies as I explored the trail there. There is a strong Japanese inspiration here in the simplified shapes. At the same time, in almost a cubist manner, I combine different views into one sweeping, overall view. The sunset in the back shows this shift of time and color. I also add Japanese kanji into the piece, to flatten the space and add eternal meanings. The ink is added after blending 20 layers of pastel.

  • acrylic on canvas 15.5 x 16.5 x 1.5" My work is all about New York. The sense of belonging, and the desperation felt whenever I'm not in New York. It is about finding the place where I feel like myself. My work seeks to ask the viewer: ‘what is it that you desire? Where is it that you’d wish you could be? Where are you the happiest? What are you doing or where are you when you are your most authentic self? Who would you so dearly wish that would appear in front of you? What dreams do you have? What keeps you moving forward? Through my paintings I hope the viewer will engage in a conversation that could also relate to their own personal story, their own memories, their own personal questions, hopes, and aspirations.

  • acrylic 11 x 14" My passion in creating art is to experiment with different surfaces, media and techniques. I follow spontaneous perceptions and inspirations to create my abstract paintings and to catch the viewer’s eye. The energy of colors, the material and the texture inspire me every day. This continuing, intimate process gives me the opportunity to add a unique, special effect to my abstract work. My art speaks for itself, is powerful and invites the viewer to interpretation using memories and experiences. There is no right or wrong.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • acrylic on paper 6 x 4" Working primarily with acrylic, one of my passions is to explore different surfaces, media and techniques creating new challenging endeavors. I love the experimentation and the inspiring dynamics. Besides the exuberant energy of colors, material and texture I also get a lot of inspiration by the ambiance and my personal emotions. What an extraordinary sensation it is to experience the energy we all are surrounded by and then to translate it into a painting! This is a continuing, intimate process. Listening to my inner voice has become a very important part of my creativity; yet, it is never an easy task to do. Last but not least, there is the always-possible element of surprise adding a unique, special effect to my abstract artwork. The combination and interaction of all these factors affect my work deeply by making it strong and powerful. There are no boundaries in art. To me, this synthesis is my art.

White Cedar Swamp is a magical place near my home and studio on Cape Cod. I was unaware this wonderland was tucked between the bay and the national seashore, less than a mile away from me, until a friend introduced me to the place on a hike. I felt transported in this space, surrounded by trees and dazzled by the reflections in the pools of water. Immediately, I knew I had found a new muse. I am drawn back there frequently and it is always a different spectacle. Moonlight Magic depicts my memory of the swamp on the rising of The March Worm Moon. In folklore, this full moon symbolizes inspiration, rebirth, hope, and luck.

Experiencing the vast rural spaces of unexplored lands of the Burren, County Clare, Ireland, I climbed upon the rocky limestone land, formed of great slabs of rock that were once the sea bed of an ocean millions of years ago. Dotted throughout that rocky surface I found ancient Neolithic monuments like the Poulnabrone Dolmen, one of Ireland’s most iconic and oldest dated megalithic archeological monuments, a portal tomb consisting of two large vertical stones standing on either side of an entrance capped with a massive sloping capstone.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
