Edith Mitchill Prellwitz, one of NAWA’s founders, is currently in an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. You can visit the Met show now through October 29, 2023 in-person or online .

Edith Mitchill Prellwitz is an American artist who lived from 1865 until 1944. The piece in the show is dated 1888-1889. That is the same year the she came together with four other artists to form what was eventually renamed The National Association of Women Artists to prove that despite adversity and discrimination – which many feel extend to this day – women are an integral and valuable part of the arts community.
