  • acrylic on canvas 12 x 12 x 2" This painting is one of a series of 26 works that use the language of color, light and form to the boundaries between art and science and explore a holistic vision of the world. As both the daughter of a scientist and the mother of a scientist, I find the nexus art and science suggests possibilities of hope for protecting natural world. The painting teems with life and the beginnings of life: pods, whirlybirds from maple trees, and cells, interspersed with all manner of mark-making, including circles made of hatch-marks, wandering lines, spirals, and other symbols that reference prehistoric petroglyphs.

  • acrylic on canvas 36 x 36 x 2" The 36 x 36-inch panels are part of a series that begin with fall and winter, and as the images progress, a pregnant female form emerges from her leafy environment, and ends with new life being nurtured in summer. They speak to the intimacy of our relationship with nature, and perhaps a larger cosmic vision of the wisdom of embracing the feminine energy that birthed us all.

This Viking, who is searching for his next adventure or perhaps a flagon of beer, is inspired by permission to draw this from armstreet.com, a Ukrainian company that makes Medieval and Renaissance clothing. I've changed the figure to represent the story of searching, and perhaps the Viking here has been running along the beach since his leg wraps are in the process of falling down. The figure is drawn in charcoal with white pastel highlights on heavyweight brown paper glued to a barrier-treated wooden panel and waxed with an archival cold wax. Hence, there is no need for glass on this artwork. My charcoal portraits tend to favor theatrical lighting, costumes, and a good story.

  • compressed charcoal & charcoal pencils on extra rough charcoal paper 12 x 9" The lady in this portrait is from an image that was handed to me during a discussion about Edwardian costume. The image was handed to me as I fell in love with the Edwardian hat and jacket, but it was the sitters eyes that compelled me to draw it. She had a bit of spunk and impishness in her glance, underneath that hat. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • acrylic and mixed media on stretched canvas 48 x 48 x 1.5" As a native Swede I have always felt a strong connection to the ancient Scandinavian and Nordic culture and rituals, passed down from generation to generation in the form of poems, sagas and the ancient written alphabet Runes. I translate my memories from my childhood into textured layered paintings; ; weaving layers upon layers of paint, graphite, pigments, marks and symbols. My artistic journey is somewhere at the confluence of the removing and adding layers, the destroying and creating, and the notion that time is a reflection of change and inadvertently leaves an imprint.

They are a combination of both disciplines which interact so completely that neither would be complete without the other. Unlike "assemblage" or "found object" sculpture these works are not 3D collages with elements highlighted by color. Instead through the use of many tints and tones of gray, the relief elements are subtly integrted with the painting. one flowing into the other. The colors themselves are controlled, yet full of variety, and held to a low intensity so as not to compete with the three dimensional elements. 11 x 14 x .75" Most people find vines and moss to be annoying growths in need of pruning. I often collect "stuff" on my walks and use them in my art. They fulfill my need for texture both visual and tactile in my work. The moss in this case is from my photographs and altered in color. The vines represent what is often torn from trees. I think these are natural wonders and I continue to preserve them.

  • Time for Pleasant Memories Acrylic with skins and collage Size of Piece: 11 x 14 Color has always been a major force in my creative process, and it is always an intuitive emotional choice. It is not unusual for me to look back after a days work and know myself better. These paintings were done during a period of calm after some difficult times. Luminous Evening emanates the golden hour's enchantment, born from a small study painted en plein air of a nearby pond. With a symphony of hues, I painted its canvas to mimic the sun's warm embrace. Peach, pink, and coral danced, while the pond shimmered with golden reflections. Trees stretched upward, leaves aglow with sunset's fire. Imperfections embraced; the scene exuded tranquility. The painting captured the fleeting magic of golden hour, inviting viewers to bask in its luminous beauty.

  • Taking a Hike Oil on Mylar Size of Piece: 40 x 14 This work was inspired by my early years growing up on the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania. The flux and flow of water is always fascinating, so movement is a big theme of carrying a voice that speaks to my inner soul. In this work, transparency plays a major role so that the viewer can see through many layers of imagery. • Photograph printed on watercolor paper using liquid light 20 x 15 in. My photographic goal has been to achieve simplicity of design and composition reminiscent of classical style. I have created images, often using as my subject the reflection of my own body in mirrors. The reflected image brings a surreal quality to the images, transcending time and space. My model is a woman in search of her lost identity: a mother, daughter, lover, and divorced wife, torn between her traditional upbringing and her present life in a foreign land. In 1989, I started using “liquid light” on watercolor paper with my photographs in the darkroom, painting with this medium to show the brush strokes. In my own style, I achieve a unique combination of strokes and images, so that my photographs may look like Japanese black brush paintings. By using brush strokes I was able to bring flowing movement into my pictures, resulting in fascinating visual effects. • Leaping for the Pure Joy of It Photography Size: 11 x 14 Painting is my passion and where I find my happy place. My love for art comes from my Faith and the beauty God has created for us to enjoy. I am mainly a wildlife artist with attention to detail. My goal is to make each painting as photo realistic as possible. I love the details and try to show as much as I can in each piece of work. But my true joy is my family and spending time with them. I have been married for over 3 decades and mom to five amazing kids and five beautiful grandbabies. • Fiber Arts NUBIGI ,000,097. 9 x 14 in. All of the tiltles of art work include the term "NUBIGi" and a number. Numbers just state the order of art work.  NUBIGi means sewing in Korean. For me, sewing means passing through time. The needle pierces the fabric, and the thread connects the holes with the holes, drawing lines and planes from the points. Only expresses the sewing itself, shows that time is still in it. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • acrylic on canvas 24 x 24 x 1.5" What I see, hear, feel and experience makes its way into my art. Growing up in multiple cultures influences my work, and my love of fairy tales, fiction, fantasy, and sci-fi seeps through as well. Through the use of vibrant colors, a sense of movement, and unexpected imagery, I hope the viewer is drawn into my work in a way that provides space for their own interpretation and lived experience, but always with a twist, as in RNA. At first glance it appears to be a landscape, but there is more more to this story that I hope the viewer will see.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

What I see, hear, feel and experience makes its way into my art. Growing up in multiple cultures influences my work, and my love of fairy tales, fiction, fantasy, and sci-fi seeps through as well. I paint mostly in acrylics and gouache and love to experiment with a variety of techniques and materials. I like to tell stories through my work and infuse it with a bit of levity and humor. • Alleviation of Sorrow Oil on Canvas Size of Piece: 30 x 24 Framed Size: 34 x 28 Since my childhood I began to look for the harmony contained in art. Through the magic lantern of art, I try to express myself and the events of my life. The entire life may not be enough to search for harmony. But the meaning is in the journey itself, in the very attempt to find this harmony and reflect it on canvas. Art is a way to live life by devoting it to the beauty of the world - this is my inspiration and this is a core of my creative process. I believe Marilyn is some sacred symbol of a kind or a saint of unknown religion. I worked for a long time on this painting. It had incredible richness of nature - wild flowers in fields, abundance of trees and bushes, green grass around houses... Nature in Hudson Valley is so powerful that it could easily overcome human-made structures. But at the same time, nature and people their live in harmony with each other., and human habitats in Hudson Valley look so different in compare to disturbing life in big American cities. • oil 8 x 10" Irina’s work is driven by passion to explore and celebrate life. She is searching for beauty, balance, harmony and the ideal, following the philosophy of the great Russian writer Leo Tolstoy who believed that “beauty will save the world.” Art has always been Irina’s salvation and the fountain from which she could draw inspiration, strength, love and serenity. Irina is working primarily in oils in various genres, including portraits and figurative work, florals, still lives and landscapes. Recently she is exploring pastels, a new medium for her, which is experiencing Renaissance in the United States and which has been more widely adopted in Europe. Irina is also using digital media as her tool of storytelling to touch the audience’s hearts. Being equally good in traditional media and in digital arts, Irina explored a newly found ground in digital illustration by writing, illustrating, designing and publishing a new children’s book Balloon at Noon and Other Stories. Irina’s main influences, at least for the moment, are the Florentine Renaissance painters of the 16th century Leonardo da Vinci, Tintoretto, Veronese, Titian, among others. She has found it gratifying to rediscover realism and to dedicate time to study and observe form, light and color. She is painting and drawing live models again to explore the subtle shadows, softness, and warmth of human flesh, as well as the texture and radiance of everyday objects. It feels as though it took Irina a long time, down an ever-winding road, to become a fine artist. There were many detours along.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

The McCarthy plaque shows my great grandparents, Dennis and Mary McCarthy, after they emigrated from Ireland to upstate New York, leaving behind the Great Famine. They were married in 1874, and had 7 children including my grandmother Julia Guinane. The relief was modeled in clay and a plaster was made from that and colored with a bronze paint.
