acrylics 30 x 30 x 1.5" I began this work as a non objective abstract painting. However, once I dipped my paintbrush into green it became a flowing garden, Perhaps it was the Chopin or the spring day.

acrylic on canvas 36 x 36 x 1.75" The squish under my brush, the excitement of creating a color, the rhythm of the music I'm hearing as I work... take me to that place of MINDSCAPE. A mind escape...from the chaos of everyday life. There is no stress in my studio. I am free and oh so happy to fly into the mindset of nothing but my dancing brush.

watercolor pencil on 140 lb arches paper 28 x 23" This drawing, "The Hummingbird", is from a series of works inspired by my granddaughter who is brain damaged, handicapped and visually impaired. The series is called "Beauty in a Broken World". Oriana, my model and my muse, teaches me to be happy, joyous and free and how to live life on life's terms. The hummingbird's delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning, and that laughter is life's sweetest creations. My work has always been an expression of my core self. Whatever is happening in my life expresses itself in my work. watercolor 24 x 24 x 1" Lavender Square is one of the pieces in my petal series, which all started with a floral arrangement. Photographing it up close, I discovered how the slightest movement of the camera created an entirely new composition. I was fascinated by the amazing color and shape of each petal. This discovery marked the beginning of a floral journey, starting in acrylic, then venturing into oil and watercolor. My background is in graphic design where I developed a bold approach to color and form. Painting shape by shape, I strive to make each one beautifully blended, and build the final painting like a puzzle, balancing color and texture as I go.

Fiber Art 15 x 15" Creating The Great Divide was a fusion of my passion for mixed media, collage and meditative stitching. My process was quite intuitive, beginning with painted cheesecloth fabric and a palette of neutrals, blues and greens in fabric and a gel print on rice paper. After creating my collage, I began to stitch with thread. Not only did my stitching act as the “glue” for my collage, but it created mark making and texture. The strong cork fabric diagonal provided me with the title, The Great Divide.

Oil on canvas 24 x 24 x 1.5 in. When my mother passed away I found I couldn't continue painting as usual and painted only her death for six months, always in an expressionist manner. At first the works were colorful, even cheery; next a beautiful waterfall of tears; and finally, my entry "Mourning Aiti," a somber, and as it happens, feminine, design. Collage 8 x 6" The idea of one's guardian is near and dear to me. I am comforted by the notion that there is someone or something that keeps an eye out for all of us and keeps us from harm. I often refer to these guardians as the "grandmothers", emanating from our female relatives and ancestors who came before us and acting as a collective blanket of safety. Collaged from old textiles and other bits of my own papers and canvas. The edges are embellished with intricate designs inspired by Slavic Pysanky eggs.

collage 40 x 50" I am fascinated by the mythic concept of one’s daimon, or spiritual companion. According to Plato, the daimon acts as a carrier of our destiny. I refer to these companions as “the Grandmothers” and wonder how do they manage? Where do they reside? How do they carry such an important weight both physically and emotionally? While softly swinging in my hammock, the feeling of a vessel gliding effortlessly through the cosmos came to me. These boat-like vehicles developed into soul sleds. They are the agent from which the Grandmothers run the show and watch over us. Exploring the ideas of one's soul journey is my work's focus.

machine applique, hand embroidery 34 x 32.5" Magical Unicorn, is a fiber portrait, of a profoundly autistic girl. ASD is a disorder mostly comprised of males. Only 1 in 178 girls are diagnosed with Autism. I discussed with the mother, of the child pictured in this quilt, what she loves, her favorite colors, and composed artwork to represent her. People with profound ASD are infants in aging bodies that exhibit childlike behaviors and activities. While their innocence remains, it is a beautiful and heartbreaking journey to witness. Works on Paper Farewell to the Goddess 16 x 16 in. I love the meditative nature of creating patterns and collages using drawing, carving, stamping and mixing media. Most of the imagery is pieced together from my sun-drenched memories of my adolescent years spent in India. This piece is about the celebration of the Goddess Durga. In Kolkata, every year in October, for 7 days, the city comes alive with hundreds of installation art pieces dedicated to the goddess depicting her in various creative ways. After seven days, the structures come down and the Durga idols are thrown into the river, symbolizing her return home, The city then goes back to its normal hustle and bustle. Months later the eroding idols can be found tossed aside. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

monotype (printmaking) 16 x 24" The Inner senses to me are as much of a truth as the outer senses. My art is an expression of that Truth. The Truth which goes beyond our five senses. The truth which goes beyond the senses of seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touch. This is a truth of feeling and sensing, the inner world and the intangible outer world. I use visual art forms such as painting, drawing, printmaking and photography to express my inner and life experiences.

Digital Photograph 13 x 20 in. As I walked in the fog, this lonely and worn building emerged from the misty greenery. I took out my camera and telephoto lens and captured the solitude of this shed. I wondered about its history and the stories it could tell. The architecture, though simple, had a charm and elegance in its design. The builder had a sense of detail, proportion and functionality. The structure was modest but orderly, with a clear path leading to the door. Would you like to enter? photography 28 x 17 x 1.5" The thrill of speed, spray, and splash during a boating adventure are my favorite ways to spend a day. Equipped with my Nikon and a telephoto lens, I sat aft observing the ensigns' flow and flutter. I favor a telephoto lens for its ability to draw viewers into the scene, eliciting a reflective response to the imagery. This vision was captured aboard "Irish" off Camden, Maine, in West Penobscot Bay. Being on a US-flagged vessel gives me a profound sense of security. I aim to search for images that convey significant symbols reflective of how and where I live. The clarity of bright days contributes to fulfilling my artistic pursuit of simplicity, symbolism, and the evocation of thought.

acrylic painting with 3D leaves & branches 36 x 60 x 3"I am always inspired by my onetime hometown of Kailua, Hawaii. I feel a profound connection to the island. The smells, breezes, colors, ocean and warm, wonderful people inspire me. It is not about making a pretty picture, it is about spiritual connection on a deep level. I have experienced healing there after devastating losses. It always fills me up, even when I didn't realize I was empty. My hope is to move the viewer in some way.
