  • egg-tempera on panel 16 x 12" I am committed to creating work that radiates positive vibes and deep contemplation. My artistic aspiration, rooted in respect for Nature and Human beings, is often expressed in abstract form. I also explore human consciousness concepts in figurative works, such as perception, cultural beliefs, traditions, and lifestyles. I work in series or interdisciplinary collections that form a cohesive narrative. I love experimenting with materials and mixing the media in 2D and 3D works as I adapt to environmentally clean techniques, utilizing non-toxic materials. I believe in the interconnectedness of all things. In my work, I link the qualities of the natural elements with various cultural symbols and draw visual parallels of these correlations, using organic forms and interwoven trajectories. I am exploring the dynamic of movement and light - the light reflected on the surfaces of sculpture, and the inner light that works of art emanate, reflecting the artist’s intention. My process is intuitive and so are my findings. The unknown is what inspires me and keeps me going.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • bronze, wood 15 x 10 x 8"
The Whirling Darvish sculpture is inspired by the essence of a traditional Sufi spinning meditation practiced by the Dervishes of the Mevlevi Order, in which the practitioner abandons his ego and connects with the divine in a rotating trance by listening to the flute music and symbolically resonating with the spinning planets, partaking of the Oneness of the Universe. Today, the meaning of this meditation puts on a fresh spin when practiced by non-secular dancers united in humanity and humility, harmonizing with each other and with the Cosmic vastness.

This entry contains a union of opposites of organic and non-organic nature, growth and rigidity, biomorphic shape and rough texture, presence and absence of color, fragility and visual sturdiness of the material. Bounded, the inflexible, colorless, yet intricate organic form resembles a crouched figure from the classical era.

  • ceramic 12 x 12 x 9" The family unit is a medium between personal and social realms. Family is a medium where individual growth occurs in conjunction with interrelationships. It is a space of safety, acceptance, and extreme challenges to harmonize with one another. It is a golden middle between the eternal and the daily. A spirit of protection mediates a family. There are also daemons in the same media, to confuse, and misguide family members, to test their loyalty and their love. Finding a golden ratio among all family members while negotiating individual integrity is a happy medium. In the English language, the word medium has about 7 meanings, all of which can be seen as relevant to the concept of Family.

    sculpture: plexiglass/wood
    Size: 16 x 16 x 2
I am interested in the expression of color and reflections as a language. The transparent nature of plexiglass makes it possible to create visual statements of color and hue that are not available with other materials. My work explores the nature of individual colors and their interaction and reflections. The composite of the individual components creates a distinctive visual statement. Much of my work has been influenced by the beauty of the sunrises and sunsets on Long Island. My work is meant to be joyous and celebratory.

The composite of all the individual components creates a distinctive visual statement. The sculptures are sensitive and meditative. They celebratory and joyful.

  • B/W silver photograph on fiber with inks 9.5 x 9.5 in. w/frame 16.5 x 16.5 in.   While enjoying some street photography on Ninenzaka Walkway, Kyoto, Japan, a lovely, young woman in full Geisha regalia ran past me at the speed of light. With no time to prepare, I instinctively snapped a photo. Then, as if an apparition, she was gone. Later, I found her facial expression curious. Contemplative? Reflective? Amused? This black and white silver image is printed on archival fiber paper and hand-colored with Marshall inks. The custom frame is inspired by Japanese frames. It has a silk-wrapped matt inner frame bordered by a mahogany liner frame, and a mahogany-toned wooden outer frame.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • mixed media
    13.25 x 13.25 x 3"
Recycled is an abstract expression—a personal, yet universal language—which combines concept with experience. It is many things at once. Technically: It is a mixed-media painting, a “combine” of painting with sculpture together with a collage of found, repurposed and recycled objects. Conceptually: It’s a puzzle, a design, a color way, a magical mystery to explore and decode thoughts and ideas about “recycling”. Physically: It is constructed from acrylic paint, watercolor crayon, archived with newly-created palette skins and found objects. All of these elements take direction from the Muses of the Imagination.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • acrylic on cradleboard 13.25 x 13.25" Color and experimentation are my muses. • acrylic on canvas 20 x 20 x 1.5" Bloom is focused in the photosynthesis of planktons and the journey this species go through yearly from the Atlantic to the Arctic. I was very intrigued to find this natural phenomenon and see the similarities to my work style. I intentionally mimicked the density of the reproduction of plankton, which their presence changes the color of the water in which they live, leaving a colorful trail in the ocean. My approach is very intuitive; through the use of washed acrylics aligned around earthy colors, I create space-contained systems driven by shapes, layers, patterns and textures to represent the alge bloom. • Bronze
    9.5 x 11 x 11"
Little Madison came to model for me but she was very shy and didn't know what pose to take. She began crying when she saw that people would be watching, but I promised her that they would look at me, and not at her. I asked her what she did for fun and she said she loved to draw. I said, "Me too! Would you like to use my drawing pencils and paper and make some drawings for me?" For over two hours she sat and drew, while I created this little sculpture. Her purple shoes led me to believe that deep inside this shy little girl, there was a big artist inside.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • bronze 15 x 8 x 8" When my son did communion I noticed the altar boy standing in the corner. I was so inspired by all the young children, the beautiful innocence, the trust they give and the dedication given to join and understand tradition. Children are truly an empty vessel. I find it so ironic that we think we can teach and fill this vessel, when this emptiness is something we should all learn from. When I am able to listen and learn, when I harbor empathy and understanding deep within my soul, I feel like I can understand the child I saw standing in the shadows of the church, with all his earnestness.

  • Reading by the Seashore Acrylic/Canvas Size of Piece: 16 x 20

Girl by the Seashore was painted from imagination,  another way I work.  Sometimes, I paint from imagination directly, with maybe only a thought to where the work will go, but more often, and here, the composition is derived from a pencil drawing, originally from imagination I which made quite a few years ago and still love.  I draw a lot.  Here, I worked to get the light the way I wanted it.

    bronze bas relief with crystals
    Size: 13 x 9
Recently moving my 3D clay portrait busts from Boston to my new home in Savannah was challenging. Upon arrival, I tried my hand at bas reliefs yet several broke for various reasons. Frustrated, I decided to cast my pieces in bronze - using the lost wax process. Carved directly in wax then cast in bronze, this piece is one-of-a-kind. It is unique and cannot be duplicated. To find inspiration for painting, I sometimes get off the pavement and take the roads less traveled in the Midwest. This is a painting that resulted from my trip one early morning last Fall. I couldn't see well enough to determine if a deer was really off in the distance that morning, but something in the field looked like the form of a deer. I really enjoy capturing the natural beauty of the Midwest landscape to share with viewers--especially when the morning light creates such vibrant color for a painter to enjoy.

My floral entity is a metaphor for what it means to me to be female- the hidden beauty, the unfolding forms that are under my surface. The beads are in the background but they come forward creating a visual tension-a tension that is reflected in the notion of walls/barriers.

    acrylic on canvas
    Size: 48 x 36
I wanted to find a way to give people hope and the Japanese culture and Spirituality have always inspired me. The sun (Taiyo) in the Japanese culture is a symbol of life, light and the vital force that sustains all living things. It also symbolizes hope, renewal and new beginnings. I incorporated modern and ancient textile patterns to illustrate the opportunity we have to learn from our past and use that knowledge to transform our future.

My art depicts a broad and embracing perspective of human closeness to allow viewers' imaginations to respond in as open a way as possible. My parents suffered extreme early traumas that left them fearful of others. Their influence was a huge obstacle for me to overcome. As a result, I am sensitive to the damage to people, communities, and nations when fear prevents us from finding trust through recognition of our similarities and negotiation of our differences.

  • Bee Balm in Vase
    Pastel on black Arches paper
Size: 14 x 11" Bee Balm in Vase explores the intersection of organic form and underlying structure. This pastel piece centers on the vibrant, architectural blooms of the bee balm plant, arranged in a simple vase to highlight their natural elegance. Beneath the surface, incised geometric patterns subtly emerge from the background, providing a quiet tension between order and spontaneity. These shapes were etched into the paper before any pigment was applied, allowing them to interact with the soft texture of the pastel in a uniquely tactile way. The work is executed exclusively with Rembrandt pastels, chosen for their rich pigmentation and ability to capture nuanced shifts in color and light. The result is a still life that invites the viewer to look beyond the surface and consider the harmony between nature and design.
