Sunny MornSize of Piece: 18 x 12 I stated taking a variety of art classes this year and marbleizing paper was one of these classes. I really enjoyed working with this medium as It is freeing and unique, The final artwork can be quite interesting. It's similar to creating silk scarves. You never know how the final piece will turn out, It can be rewarding and challenging at the same time. I have learned to work with a variety of colors and shapes, and therefore have a better idea of the final artwork. Bang a GongSize of Piece: 30 x 24 x 1.5 My paintings evolve through layers of impastoed texture. It is always a process of intuitive line and color until a strong cohesive composition evolves as i step back, watching and waiting excitedly as my brush directs me. I love the mystery of the evolution! Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.acrylics on canvas

InsideSize of Piece: 24 x 19 Drawing is at the base of all my artwork. Charcoal is a medium I rarely use but find it is malleable and allows great variety with changing pressure and angle. I made it out of my head in a moment of need to see what the charcoal would say with me. Our rhythms jibed. I found texture and harmony while making this drawing. I named it "Inside" because it feels like an internal, private moment. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.charcoal on drawing paper

Two WorldsSize of Piece: 24 x 36 x 4 Two Worlds required the application of more than two dozen layers of oil paint that I thinned to transparency. Some of the layers were poured, some partially rubbed off, some dripped on the surface with an eye-dropper, and some scratched off with stiff rags. The painting reflects on climate change, and the power of rising seas. The blue-green zone implies ocean water without representing it in an illustrative manner. It suggests an ocean that is alive, but unsafe for humans who might get lost in the tangles. The uneven orange border between the ocean depths and the golden land is a vision of an ever-changing shoreline caused by warming oceans rising over the land. Abalone HeartSize of Piece: 30 x 30 x 2.25 The ocean delivers gifts of beauty in special ways. This piece is intended to invoke thoughts of unexpected tenderness despite the tumbling, rustling, and tossing in the currents. After being carefully sheltered within a jagged, stone-like exterior, the gentle abalone interior holds a surprising hue. The tender pearlescence displays a myriad of colorful hues, providing proof that beauty can be carefully created and then surrendered from within the center of even the harshest of elements. Abalone Heart reminds us that we are resilient. We will render the product of our worth despite the storms we experience. Morning in TownSize of Piece: 58 x 40 “Morning in Town” is one of my newest paintings, inspired by my travels through Oriental countries. It’s composed of three joined panels, resembling a door, complete with carved woodwork on the reverse side. BeachSize of Piece: 44 x 33 x 6 The painted constructions emerge as transmutations of my most resounding responses to overcoming the obstacles around and within me. They are not mere representations but transformative expressions borne from profound encounters with people, self-reflection, and the natural world. These works memorialize instances of revelation in the space between observation and understanding—ephemeral moments with a shift in what is valued that would otherwise slip away unrecorded. Join the FightSize of Piece: 24 x 24 x 1.5 Working on a series based on and incorporating letters my father wrote my mother during WW2 while stationed in the Pacific, I created this portrait of my paternal grandmother. In one of his letters, my father said he told his platoon that he had all the pin-up girls he needed; they were pictures of my mother - his girlfriend at the time, his mother, and his neice who was about 4 years old. I created portraits of all three for the series; each with imagery in the background and a slogan reminiscent of pin-up girl posters circa 1944-45 when he served. The two stars represent two of her four sons who served during the War. ShariSize of Piece: 10 x 4 x 4 I worked with Shari often and liked her. She was a wonderful model. My work often takes off from the inspiration of the model, and it expands from there, but in this instance, I just wanted to be true to her. I hope I have captured her spirit. I heard she had died last year. This piece as a tribute and remembrance.. For the carpet, I used a brushstroke that looks very much like the couching stitch from Medieval times and I think that gave it a nice carpet like quality..I painted her skin tones and makeup with underglazes to be true to her. Hope Springs EternalSize of Piece: 12 x 16 x 1 My alcohol inks on Yupo paper paintings deal with the luminosity of light. They are inspired by a need and my choice to embrace brightness and positivity in the darkness that seems to hover over the entire world like an enormous dark cloud. I use organic shapes that are derived from nature with the intention to lift the spirits of the viewer. Spirit GuideSize of Piece: 16 x 16 My narrative mixed media pieces are an intuitive blend of acrylic paint, handmade paper and fabric that give life to my contemporary concepts. Each painting starts with an idea that takes many compositional and decorative turns before I call it complete. The result is an intricate tapestry of visual elements that invites my viewers to explore the many layers of textural detail. In my work, I explore memories and dreams as a way to highlight ideas about the interdependence of humanity and nature. It also reflects life’s changes and our resilience in navigating the ups and downs. I believe we create balance and harmony by being sensitive to our environment and each other. GatheringSize of Piece: 24 x 36 x 1.5 Birds go about life in what appears to be total freedom: - freedom of responsibilities - freedom of demands by others, of flying anywhere anytime any place. . And yet, certain species stay gathered together as a unit providing safety: safety in numbers, safety in gathering food, and safety location. This duality is what intrigues me to paint them, for I am a 2-legged bird. in disguise. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.acrylics

One Fine DaySize of Piece: 50 x 30 x 1.75 A post from Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, circa 2020, about Rosa Parks. "She sat down so that we could stand up." Standing Firm1Size of Piece: 12 x 9 This watercolor was a sketch that was part of a series of studies and paintings of a sculpture that "spoke to me" at Brookgreen Gardens. in Murrells Inlet, SC. I had visited the NAWA SC Chapter in 2023, and took some photos of some of the sculptures in the gardens. When the chapter secured an exhibition at the Gardens' Rosen Galleries, I decided to explore the bronze sculpture, Circle of Life- part of the 4 Seasons series by Harold "Tuck" Langland, created in 2001. This sculpture shows a yoga pose; my daughter teaches yoga, I have done yoga for decades, and she is now in the south where Spanish moss proliferates. Andy's FlowersAndy Warhol was a leading figure in the Pop Art movement. While identified with NYC, he was born and raised in western PA where he graduated from Carnegie Tech. He left town for NYC and rarely returned. When he graduated, Pittsburgh was full of industrial fog, dust and pollution from steel mills. The American Lung Association released a 2025 air quality report indicating the air quality in the region has not improved since Andy's days. The steel mills still produce pollution and we have added fracking and carbon capture to the mix. Inspired by Andy's flowers I painted similar ones & added an abstract cow as farms are threatened by current contaminations. Guardian XXVIIII am a Columbia, SC based artist, my work is created with strips of recycled paper collected from magazines, flyers and papers found in my daily life. I am intrigued with the colors and textures in everyday printed matter. Coiling is a very tedious and time-consuming process, it takes countless hours to roll enough strips of magazine pages into coils to create anything of substance. Once the coils are made I proceed to manipulating them into the desired shape, dome, cone or tentacle. It is an intuitive and ongoing visual experiment. The time spent creating the pieces is infinitesimal, but the love of what I do removes the burden of it and turns it into drive. BrainbowYummy colors drove the making of this print and hexagons helped shape its direction. Memory and RepairAs a sculptor I am interested in the figure. As an Occupational Therapist I am interested in the repair of the body. This piece shows bodies in repair and the memories of past life. Everyone has memories that they would like to forget or alter in some way to make them more acceptable. I started with the folded porcelain forms, and then created the bodies. Some of the bodies broke in the clay or in the kiln. I decided to keep them instead of throwing them out and started repairing them as I had done in real life as an OT. Composing the elements in a group started to look like a message for life. Color ExplosionMonet's Flowers, Frank Gherry's Architecture and a passion for the outdoors motivates me to create flowers in an array of sizes and stiles, set on abstract sinuous virtual waves that transport the observer to dream, relax and imagine being uplifted to a place of serenity and joy. I started creating aluminum flowers which when applying a blow torch transformed the aluminum into golden patinas and perforations, and melted petals in an organic way. Incurring into color I powder coat them and explore different color combinations. Trial and error keeps my curiosity and creativity alive. Making a WayIn this piece, one authentic heart meets a frozen world. "Making a way" speaks to the power of feminine presence. I created this work as an offering and a reminder that aligned creative action can dissolve even the deepest separation. It is about authenticity and integrity that open new dimensions and melt troubles away. It does not matter how tiny we feel; we will persevere as long as our hearts are strong. This girl is little, the world is vast and icy, and many beings are watching her quest. This piece is painted on a canvas board with acrylic paint and markers to create the intense line connecting shapes. My Supernova Brain III had recently completed an edition of 20 works on paper that combined collagraph, monoprinting, linocut, and collage. The monoprints I created for this became the inspiration for new monoprints that I am collaging onto canvas for a new series of works. Combining newer techniques with more familiar ones have created "Supernova" explosions of creative concepts in my brain, which then expand into my studio with surprising and spontaneous results. The Quiet Seasonoil on cradled panelSize of Piece: 24 x 24 x 2A view of modest rental cottages on the North Truro coast of Cape Cod, shuttered in Autumn. In the off-season, visitors are more able to explore the glorious shorelines of the Cape. Sadly, only 12% of the 1,400 miles of Massachusetts coastline is accessible to the public, or 170 miles. This is due to an ordinance from 1647 which extends the private property boundary to the low tide line. The natural beauty and serenity of our coasts should be much more accessible to all.Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Homage to the Sunsets of the Multiversemixed media (acrylic with metallic pigments)Size of Piece: 36 x 36My work is Narrative. It is my communicative instrument that translates the intangible into a visual with shapes, color and forms...using symbolism to convey my message. This image was inspired by watching dragonflies seemingly congregate, at the end of each day, to watch the sunset. Dragonflies are a common spirit animal that represent wisdom and resilience to adapt well to change. So many talk about faith...and yet are still blind to scientific theories (one being the existence of a multiverse!?!). Meanwhile, these dragonflies see what we still cannot. This sci-fi is merging into our known reality & has these creatures worshipping the sunsets of the multiverse.Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Inyooil on canvasSize of Piece: 48 x 80 x 2Inyo refers to the place of the great spirit, the believer's heart, seen as the creator and sustainer of all things. As artists, we are the creators and sustainers of our creations, representing yin and yang—the two colors coexist yet are separate, representing positive and negative energies. This piece examines the dynamic patterns in an artist's career, specifically the interplay between change and difference. West EndacrylicSize of Piece: 48 x 36On a flight out of Ft Lauderdale, I was stunned by the beauty of the Bahamas' West End. Indigo hues reference the region’s indigo-growing history, while the kimono form, Japanese paper leaves, and repurposed fabric blooms honor both cultural tradition and environmental mindfulness. The tree, crafted from reclaimed denim, draws from the Japanese Boro technique of mending and reuse. Through this fusion of South Carolinian and Japanese elements, the piece reflects Brookgreen Gardens as a living bridge between past and present, nature and culture—a place where beauty and legacy deeply intertwine.

I paint this series to support and inspire viewers in their daily struggle toward their goals. In challenging times it is important to take a moment for a deep cleansing breath and replenishing thoughts.

"Unstoppable,” is an oil painting that boldly challenges forces that undermine democratic values and silence marginalized communities fighting for equality. Across Ahern’s over 50-year career in business and the arts, she has fought against the systematic subjugation of women’s voices and independence, refusing to accept the institutional barriers designed to limit women’s power and self-determination.

acrylic, handprinted paper, collage on canvas board
Size of Piece: 9 x 12 x .25'Offering' was inspired by a trip to India where I participated in a service project. I had made a strong, non-verbal connection with this woman which seemed to grow stronger as the weeks passed. On the final day, she invited me into her home and offered a chai tea to share with her, along with one rupee she had kept hidden behind the counter. Her daughter commented thatches was her gift to me. the woman held my hand tightly as we left for the bus-- and followed my eyes through the bus' window as I sat to leave.. both of us in tears. I wanted to capture that moment when the connection felt as if we were just two women- our shared experiences reflected in each others eyes- no matter how far apart our worlds were. Reflection oil on canvasAdditional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.Size of Piece: 36 x 24 x 1When I created Reflection, I asked myself: Who am I? In this painting, I see myself as a Divine Warrior, yet not one dressed in heavy battle armor. Instead, I chose to reveal her strength through contrasts—the grandeur of gold and the delicacy of a soft pink nightgown. To me, this symbolizes the truth of womanhood: we carry both resilience and tenderness, power and vulnerability, often all at once. The helmet becomes more than protection; it is a veil. I am not looking out into the world—I am looking within. This inner gaze reflects the search for identity, the quiet power of self-knowledge, and the courage to face the truths we hold inside. Reflection is both a portrait and a mirror, asking the viewer to pause and wonder: When you strip away the armor, who are you?

Who Do You Love? oil on canvasAdditional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.Size of Piece: 30 x 24 x 1Artwork 1: A young woman leans toward her reflection, kissing herself in the mirror. The image speaks not only of solitude, but of the eternal human desire to be seen and loved. In today’s world, the phrase “love yourself” is repeated endlessly-sometimes as healing wisdom, sometimes as a shallow slogan. Is self-embrace the beginning of true connection, or a sign of how distant we have grown from one another? The mirror becomes a symbol of both intimacy and isolation. And it asks us all, in the quiet of our own hearts: Who Do You Love? Artwork 2: Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of love, beauty, and desire, embodies both passion and grace. Born from the sea foam, she symbolizes the power of attraction, creativity, and the eternal force of love that connects all beings.

Trail to Chickenfoot Lake polymer photogravure etching on paperAdditional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.Size of Piece: 8 x 10“Trail to Chickenfoot Lake” is from a photo I took hiking along Rock Creek in the John Muir Wilderness, with the dramatic clouds and high Sierra backdrop. There is much observation, contemplation, and personal, internal reflection inspired by the magnificence of such grandeur which is captured in the exquisitely detailed etching. “Into the Vineyard” is from a photo I took in the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma. It is printed direct-to-plate and inked À la poupée with 3 different black inks to create the nuanced feel of looking into the bright, hot vineyard from the cool, vine-covered walkway. After a lazy afternoon in the tasting room, the natural beauty of the valley and the vineyards create a contemplative, reflective state that is translated into this finely detailed etching.

Moment in the Movement oil on canvasAdditional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.Size of Piece: 30 x 40 .75Moment in the Movement is inspired by Bonnie Kerness, a friend and nationally-recognized leader in the U.S. prison abolition movement. Here, Bonnie is rendered using a photo I took of her during a strategy meeting of local advocates in her 50-year role as Director of the Prison Watch Program, an arm of the American Friends Service Committee. Hunched in a gesture of weighty reflection, but perhaps also in prayer, she is cloaked by a life-affirming blue-green that contrasts with an ominousness dark background. The watery movement of her spectacular crown of white hair exists in tension with sharp, foreboding shapes surrounding, and within, her face. It was my aim to evoke a sense of bruising vulnerability, a compassionate melancholy, and also a kind of populist regality.

What Do Her Sunglasses Reflect? collageAdditional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.Size of Piece: 10 x 10 x .75This collage of a woman on a lounge chair represents a state of relaxation and reflection. I'm interested in using various color schemes that I think emphasize states of mind. In this case, the simplicity of black and white with touches of red--and her sunglasses, a visual reference to reflection. The title of the piece is a question since we can't see what the sunglasses are reflecting. I especially like working in the medium of collage because it gives me an almost unlimited supply of materials.

In midlife after my children were in college, I wanted to immerse myself in art. Up to this point, I had painted with watercolors and only planned to improve drawing skills. I fell in love with oil painting when my then instructor and now business partner, Matt introduced me to oils. Oil painting became my passion almost immediately. My love for running on wooded trails and open fields naturally inspired my desire for landscape and plein air painting. Key achievements have included winning prizes at local art shows and acceptance into organizations such as NAWA.
