Beyond its folds, mysteries softly gleam, Inviting hearts to explore and redeem. Veil invites viewers into a realm where curiosity reigns supreme and fear of the unknown dissipates. Against a backdrop of deep blues and shimmering stars, a young girl boldly parts a veil, revealing a mysterious and enchanting sky beyond. The surrealistic elements, accentuated by subtle hints of purple undertones, evoke a sense of wonder and intrigue. Through this painting, I seek to celebrate the beauty of exploration and the courage it takes to embrace the mysteries that lie beyond the confines of our eve.acrylic on canvas 24 x 18"

Guided by my daemon, I undertook a month-long residency in Ireland. The human sounds quiet down. My moment of solitude changes to reverie. I am transported by a symphony of natural sounds that fill the air--the rhythmic chorus of the frogs and crickets, the roar of rushing of water in the nearby river, and the percussive sound of wind rustling through the trees all rise up as i gaze at the stars in the dark sky above. The music is soon punctuated by the haunting calls of a pair of great horned owls. I painted Night Music to remember this magical experience.acrylic on Bristol board 10 x 8"

My visual language evolved with my own memories and experiences making up the stories I needed to tell through my art. This process-oriented work explores themes of the human condition, identity, and self-reflection. It takes me back to bright spots in my memory when I felt close to starting a new chapter and the decision felt right - it felt like the punctuating marks of time of a sunrise and a sunset. This painting references life in the deep sea. The deep sea exists below 200 meters and is vastly under explored. Organisms in the deep sea help to remove more than one third of the carbon dioxide produced by human activity on earth. Thus, these denizens of the deep may be instrumental in slowing down catastrophic climate change. Monotype 36 x 24.74 x .75 in. The forest, for me, is more than just a place. It's a sanctuary, a source of inspiration, and a canvas for my art. It's where I slow down and appreciate the gifts of nature, experience serenity, and seek healing. This deep connection to nature is the driving force behind my work. It reflects life's journeys as an artist, a mother, and my role as a human in the natural world. My art vibrates with this, communicating with mark=making rooted in impressionism and abstractionism, forming a symbiotic relationship with the past and present with the joy of raising children and sadness of leaving the nest. The works are a dance of light and hope that I found in change and share with the viewer. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Ink, pastel, and color pencil on paper 40 x 22.5 in. Ever since antiquity, astronomers have studied the 13 phases of Venus, from her rise as the morning star, to her descent into invisibility, and her re-emergence in the evening sky. These phases occur over a 19-month cycle, marking both a physical and a spiritual passage. I expressed each phase in a different work. The journey begins with Inception, passing through Gestation, Birth, Emergence towards Fullness and Self-Discovery. Then Immersion and Transmutation are followed by Rebirth, Remembering, Wholeness, Completion. My inspiration was a found ledger of observations of the 1874 Transit of Venus, a phenomenon occurring every 243 years when the planet moves across the face of the sun. Acrylic on canvas 20 x 20 in. When I was a young girl, my dad taught me to swim. He'd let me hold onto him as he swam deep underwater....and I loved that feeling of gliding through the water, holding onto him. I never could last as long as he could underwater, and I'd have to let go and swim madly up for air. Those are some of my favorite memories with him...swimming. When he died, I dreamed we were swimming together again, only this time I was the one swimming deep underwater and he was the one swimming madly to the surface...and this time he went far further than the surface.; he went straight on into the sky. I woke up missing him, but happy we could swim together again...even if it is in my dreams. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Mixed media, drawing on paper 24 x 18 x 1 in. Lena is my oldest grandchild and only granddaughter. Although she lives on the West coast, we have always shared a special bond. This summer, while she, her father and brother were visiting us in Virginia, she got her first period. Later, as we sat together, I began to sketch. At one point, she created a peep hole to look through as we talked. That gesture portrayed for me the ambivalence of the moment. It felt as though she was looking out at the future, as she contemplated the consequences of her body changing to her adult self. Her pose captured he tension between childhood and adulthood, highlighting the uncertainty and conflicting emotions that come with this transition Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Oil on canvas 21 x 25 in. LOOK OUTSIDE The model for this painting is my beautiful granddaughter Jamie, with gorgeous naturally curly saffron colored hair. She is only 8 years old here, but she is tall, making her look older. She is unaware of her natural youthful beauty. I love the lopsided bow on the back of her shirt. Seeing the work in progress, Jamie asked me to put an owl in the painting. I painted a barn owl in flight. The owl, like her wisdom, is coming towards her, but in her innocence, she looks the other way. Pensive (Jesse)This lovely young woman sits at the sweet threshold of adulthood. Mixed Media Blue Girl Size: 30 x 24 These two paintings are part of a series of Blue Paintings I have done over the years. So this is not really a “Blue Period” a la Picasso, but a sustained interest in returning to blue over the years, from time to time. “Blue Girl” can be said to sustain one reading of the idea of blue, as in waking up with the blues, and going to bed that way too. “Blues Bird” refers to the idea of blue in its “blues music” musical context, which can include joy and vitality. “Blues Bird” also expresses my interest in texture and mixed media in my paintings, although I also think “Blue Girl” is also a painting that includes a sense of texture. Acrylic on Canvas Hope Springs Size: 48 x 48 x 3 Birds began to appear in my work at the start of the Pandemic. The beginning of the bird fashionistas - little characters that emulate the personalities of the people around me: They are fun to make and are a constant reminder of what is important in my life. When someone asks me “What happened to you during the pandemic?” I think “Well, a lot,” but the constant reminder of life came from looking through the living room window, watching a cascade of different types of birds vying for their spot at the bird feeder. Over and over and over! So many hours spent on the sofa just watching them and being thankful for being alive. While sitting on that sofa I did draw a LOT in my journal book. I wrote about the places I’ve been to, the people I’ve been with, meanings of the icons and images I was incorporating in my work. When we all began to venture out of our houses, I was more mindful of the journaling process and drawing the “memories” of place. The images in the journal book are the genesis of this work. Oil Curtsey and Carry On Size: 50 x 26 x 3 My submissions represent the most current work I have completed. The figurative series was intended to encompass all things about creation. The cubist quality happened rather organically while I was troubleshooting creative ways to represent parts of a figure, and the pieces that make up a whole being. These are only two examples, while some of the works not pictured are more irregular and varied shapes, rather than the hard-edged linear shapes seen here. The pallet varies as well but overall the works are a neutral with vibrant undertones. The contour lines will appear and subtly disappear. I enjoyed the thinking process behind the pieces as much as the actual creation of them. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

I enjoyed the thinking process behind the pieces as much as the actual creation of them. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Egg Tempera Painting Green Tea Framed Size: 10 x 13 x 1 I have studied at the Art Students League for several years, initially focusing on drawing. Tuk SipAdditional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
acrylic, handprinted paper, collage on canvas board
Size of Piece: 9 x 12 x .25'Offering' was inspired by a trip to India where I participated in a service project. I had made a strong, non-verbal connection with this woman which seemed to grow stronger as the weeks passed. On the final day, she invited me into her home and offered a chai tea to share with her, along with one rupee she had kept hidden behind the counter. Her daughter commented thatches was her gift to me. the woman held my hand tightly as we left for the bus-- and followed my eyes through the bus' window as I sat to leave.. both of us in tears. I wanted to capture that moment when the connection felt as if we were just two women- our shared experiences reflected in each others eyes- no matter how far apart our worlds were. The other piece-'Tuk Sip' from a trip to Cambodia (Tuk=water)

Reflection oil on canvasAdditional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.Size of Piece: 36 x 24 x 1When I created Reflection, I asked myself: Who am I? In this painting, I see myself as a Divine Warrior, yet not one dressed in heavy battle armor. Instead, I chose to reveal her strength through contrasts—the grandeur of gold and the delicacy of a soft pink nightgown. To me, this symbolizes the truth of womanhood: we carry both resilience and tenderness, power and vulnerability, often all at once. The helmet becomes more than protection; it is a veil. I am not looking out into the world—I am looking within. This inner gaze reflects the search for identity, the quiet power of self-knowledge, and the courage to face the truths we hold inside. Reflection is both a portrait and a mirror, asking the viewer to pause and wonder: When you strip away the armor, who are you?

Who Do You Love? oil on canvasAdditional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.Size of Piece: 30 x 24 x 1Artwork 1: A young woman leans toward her reflection, kissing herself in the mirror. The image speaks not only of solitude, but of the eternal human desire to be seen and loved. In today’s world, the phrase “love yourself” is repeated endlessly-sometimes as healing wisdom, sometimes as a shallow slogan. Is self-embrace the beginning of true connection, or a sign of how distant we have grown from one another? The mirror becomes a symbol of both intimacy and isolation. And it asks us all, in the quiet of our own hearts: Who Do You Love? Artwork 2: Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of love, beauty, and desire, embodies both passion and grace. Born from the sea foam, she symbolizes the power of attraction, creativity, and the eternal force of love that connects all beings.

Trail to Chickenfoot Lake polymer photogravure etching on paperAdditional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.Size of Piece: 8 x 10“Trail to Chickenfoot Lake” is from a photo I took hiking along Rock Creek in the John Muir Wilderness, with the dramatic clouds and high Sierra backdrop. There is much observation, contemplation, and personal, internal reflection inspired by the magnificence of such grandeur which is captured in the exquisitely detailed etching. “Into the Vineyard” is from a photo I took in the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma. It is printed direct-to-plate and inked À la poupée with 3 different black inks to create the nuanced feel of looking into the bright, hot vineyard from the cool, vine-covered walkway. After a lazy afternoon in the tasting room, the natural beauty of the valley and the vineyards create a contemplative, reflective state that is translated into this finely detailed etching.

Moment in the Movement oil on canvasAdditional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.Size of Piece: 30 x 40 .75Moment in the Movement is inspired by Bonnie Kerness, a friend and nationally-recognized leader in the U.S. prison abolition movement. Here, Bonnie is rendered using a photo I took of her during a strategy meeting of local advocates in her 50-year role as Director of the Prison Watch Program, an arm of the American Friends Service Committee. Hunched in a gesture of weighty reflection, but perhaps also in prayer, she is cloaked by a life-affirming blue-green that contrasts with an ominousness dark background. The watery movement of her spectacular crown of white hair exists in tension with sharp, foreboding shapes surrounding, and within, her face. It was my aim to evoke a sense of bruising vulnerability, a compassionate melancholy, and also a kind of populist regality.

Night Rider oil on canvasAdditional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.Size of Piece: 30 x 24 x 1I paint with enthusiasm for color, strong imagery in my work. Lately, I have been painting cars because I find that their sculptural shapes and gleaming surfaces are irresistible. The reflections in those surfaces always call to me, so I capture the image and paint it. I generally make the car the star of my painting but I need to keep it in context so I create as much or as little of the surrounding scene as suits me.

What Do Her Sunglasses Reflect? collageAdditional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.Size of Piece: 10 x 10 x .75This collage of a woman on a lounge chair represents a state of relaxation and reflection. I'm interested in using various color schemes that I think emphasize states of mind. In this case, the simplicity of black and white with touches of red--and her sunglasses, a visual reference to reflection. The title of the piece is a question since we can't see what the sunglasses are reflecting. I especially like working in the medium of collage because it gives me an almost unlimited supply of materials.

Layered Planes 4 Collage 16 x 20 x 1 My process as an artist is disciplined, intellectually challenging and inquisitive, much as it had been in architectural practice. I am not obliged however, to follow the many requirements that were once necessary to create functioning buildings. Works are now fantasy environments and constructions. I create vivid, colorful abstract compositions reinterpreted from actual building groupings or from shapes that come to my imagination. The first step in the process is to sketch out ideas, which I often change as I move forward to completion. I focus on juxtaposed, overlapping shapes, receding and advancing in space. The use of acrylic paint and metallic paper lend well to sharp delineation of each element. Mounting paper on foam core board for selected portions, helps create a three dimensional illusion for the observer. I am energized and made joyful by the world I create. Earth and Aether Oil 24 x 16 x .5
Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.Romm's art examines the divine intelligence permeating all existence, employing a visual language rich in light, color, and symbols that transcends the mundane and draws viewers into supernatural realms. Romm's creative process-guided by intuition and experimentation-blend influences from music, poetry, and personal dreamwork to explore themes of transformation, rebirth, and transcendence. She often employs nature's symbols—drawing from skies, trees, water, birds, and other elements—infused with dynamic color to depict emerging forms symbolizing the union of physical (earth) and spirit (aether). These compositions blur tangible-ethereal boundaries, transforming her paintings into portals that invite exploration of mystical landscapes where sacred and surreal converge. Romm’s paintings are not simply representations but invitations to connect with the deeper forces shaping existence. Waiver -
The Cloisters Museum in Shadow and Light Watercolor 30 x 22
Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase. For those of us fortunate enough to live in Upper Manhattan NYC, Fort Tryon Park is our own mini Central Park and also something more. With the Cloisters Museum serving as its "castle on a hill", the Park with its lush landscaping in the same English Romantic style as Central Park, but with sweeping views of the Hudson River and the Palisades of NJ beyond, Fort Tryon Park is a place that brings out the best of us. It is a little-known gem, a neighborhood treasure that reminds us that we can daily experience renewed awe in its beauty, find calm in its idealized version of nature, delight in its wildlife, and take heart in how we and our neighbors and visitors alike smile, say hello, and find common cause in our love for the place. In the daily stresses of urban life that can sometimes bring out the worst in its residents, the Park is a place where we access a different side of life, a place we all agree that we treasure despite other disagreements. And in so doing, it is a place that prompts us to be a better, nobler version of ourselves. -
Sleeping Beauty Digital Painting: Micro-Pointillism, Corel Painter 28 x 23
Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase. As an Artist, I can weave together the threads of myth and reality while exploring the deep, multifaceted nature of the female psyche. With a unique approach that blends traditional inspiration with cutting-edge technology, My artwork serves as a bridge between the past and the present, the tangible world and the dreamlike. My pointillist pieces, created using a computer painting program, breathe life into my powerful creations, capturing the inner stories of women and the emotional landscapes they navigate. A key influence on my artwork is the traditional beauty of Japanese woodblock prints and the ethereal quality of pre-Raphaelite paintings. These historical works saturate her pieces with a sense of timelessness. Yet, my choice of a computer program as my primary art medium places me firmly in the realm of contemporary art-making. By embracing modern technology, I reinterprets these classical influences through a digital lens, creating works that feel both nostalgic and forward-thinking. At the heart of my artwork lies a fascination with the interplay of fantasy and truth. My creations speak to a realm where stories and symbols come alive, where ancient tales are reimagined through a state-of-the-art viewpoint. The result is a body of work that honors the past while challenging contemporary perceptions of femininity, identity, and self-expression. Through my art, I offer a playful yet profound exploration of the desires and dreams that shape the female experience. -

Shore Line Drive watercolor 22 x 30 I make art that highlights the resiliency and adaptability of people, nature, and New York City. My 2D art focuses on transporting paintings in watercolor – e.g. bringing the viewer to moments in the city and our natural surroundings. I use vibrant, transparent colors, always thinking about where the light drives the image. In contrast, when creating art sculptures, I focus on cuts to make shadows in alabaster, limestone, clay, and cement castings. The materials allow for elegant lines that highlight the changing fauna/flora as waters evolve. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Remnant of the Past IIintaglio11.25 x 7.5Remnants of the Past is a series rooted in historical fragments, where photo etching becomes a vessel for memory and quiet testimony. Using archival imagery as a guide, I rework moments from the past that might otherwise fade into obscurity. Figures appear suspended in time, rendered in sepia tones and softened edges, evoking the way history lingers not as a fixed record but as an emotional residue. The recurring train setting functions as both a literal and symbolic passage. It speaks to movement, migration, labor, and the unseen lives that sustained systems yet remained uncelebrated. This imagery was inspired by photographs I took of the historic Skunk Train, itself a remnant of a bygone era. Its weathered presence, worn surfaces, and lingering stillness became a visual and emotional catalyst for the series. Uniformed bodies, bowed heads, and intimate gestures suggest dignity carried under the weight of routine and restraint. These are not heroic poses, but honest ones. Through the etching process, I embrace texture, erosion, and tonal restraint, allowing marks to echo the wear of time itself. Each image functions as a visual remnant, inviting viewers to slow down and witness the humanity embedded within everyday historical moments. This series is an act of honoring. It asks us to sit with what remains, to acknowledge those who came before, and to recognize how their presence continues to shape our collective now.Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.Contact to Purchase: Sales are through Center for Contemporary Printmaking:Phone Number: 203-899-7999

On the Dockprintmaking27 x 21The Rowing Prints are a series of photo screenprints created to explore the sport of crew from the point of view of a rower and coach. They are derived from normal mundane images of regular practice sessions, mostly on the Hudson River at Poughkeepsie. The photos are then manipulated to create screenprints, and hand colored on the screen itself. When printed with a sheer black ink, I create images that are at once both realistic and nostalgic, which is the aligned with the experience of rowers who ply the waters of the historic Hudson River rowing venue at Poughkeepsie today.Contact to Purchase: Sales are through Center for Contemporary Printmaking:Phone Number: 203-899-7999 Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Cappy, Photographer at Largeprintmaking15 x 12I was creating a demo for my printmaking students on chine collé and decided to keep going on this tangent in my own practice. It can be very simple, but effective, as seen here in the monkey's face. Adding a piece of paper for a more detailed section and extending the paper to create a hard hat over the top of his head eliminated the need to carve another block, and made his face stand out from his body. Also, deciding to keep the space behind his face white, but include typeface in the hat area is a decision to consider when making choices for chine collé materials. The AP card was a real document that I added a paw print and signature to, and the camera was a Xerox collaged on, as well. A lesson for my students that I enjoyed learning from, too.Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.Contact to Purchase: Sales are through Center for Contemporary Printmaking:Phone Number: 203-899-7999

Midnight Ride
Midnight Ride was inspired by the black horse I grew up with, whose presence and spirit left a lasting impression on me. She was strong, intuitive, and deeply expressive, and this monoprint grew out of my desire to capture not a literal portrait, but the feeling of being with her—the quiet intensity, movement, and emotional connection we shared.
I approached the image through mood and atmosphere, using expressive mark-making and layered textures to evoke memory rather than description. Working with oil paint and a variety of tools, I allowed the surface to build intuitively, letting the physical process guide the emergence of form and emotion. The resulting print is both a tribute and an exploration of how memory, gesture, and material can hold presence long after the moment has passed.

printmaking
12 x 12
This summer I started making acetate stencils in an attempt to loosen up, and take a break from oil painting. I cut them freehand with a scissor, and without drawing a design first. It was fun exercise, spontaneous and surprising. I used these stencils for a series of acrylic monoprints, such as this one. When I look at them, I I can see the strong visual influence of botanicals and North African art, both of which dominate my summer surroundings.

Our Desert Skin
printmaking
30 x 22
My skin monotypes are realized “coats of skin” that are initially molded over bodies of human collaborators and then flattened under a press. The flattened forms become templates that communicate skin patterns and uniqueness.
I made them because from birth to death every human weaves a thread around herself-- a story, a shield, a chronicle of injury, trauma, vibration and pain as well as the belief of the existence of a spiritual entity, or astral soul, living within.

Dance 02
printmaking
22 x 30
Solarplate Etching printmaking technique was the medium used to create this piece.
Through repetition and mirroring of a quick drawing depicting a dancing figure, the intention was to portray a movement, a dance. Women dancing in a circle, joyfully supporting each other, celebrating life. I utilized thread, a material traditionally used by women to mend or embroider, to emphasize the connections between the dancers.
