As far back as I can remember we’ve been told that if we throw all plastic into the blue recycling can, it goes off to become new plastic. Wrong!
In actuality 80% of plastic goes into the landfill or is sold to brokers and shipped overseas; 12 % is incinerated emitting toxic fumes into poor neighborhoods who have neither time nor money to fight it and just 8% is actually recycled. What’s a consumer to do? REFUSE plastic. REUSE glass, wood, aluminum, bamboo.
