NAWA’s 136th year is coming to an end. We have accomplished a lot, and we hope you are taking advantage of being a member of the first and oldest women’s fine art association in the country. Our mothers (Anita C. Ashley, Adele Frances Bedell, Elizabeth S. Cheever, Grace Fitz-Randolph, and Edith Mitchell Prellwitz) would be amazed at the progress women artists have made since 1889.
There are many opportunities for you to participate in. Read the weekly newsletter, This Week with NAWA, to learn what is coming up such as online and in-gallery exhibitions (see the Exhibition Chair’s column), the Round Table presentations, Noon with NAWA, and posting of NAWA NOW magazine on the website. Consider volunteering for one of the national Standing Committees (Awards, Exhibitions, Membership, or PR). If you are a writer, submit to the magazine. There are many micro-tasks that do not take a lot of time but support each committee’s function. This gives you the chance to meet and work with artists across the country.
The other opportunity to show your artwork outside of your own region is to join one or all of the chapters ($30 yearly dues each), which include Florida, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. Each chapter organizes its own shows and has schedules for 2025-2026. Check each chapter’s website for upcoming events, including workshops on Zoom.
This is your sisterhood. The more you participate the more you can benefit. Please come join us!
