A Current Focus is Researching and Writing About Our Many Historical Members and Honorary Vice Presidents
Our Historical Research team is creating a database of our Past Presidents, Honorary Vice Presidents, and Historical members. Last year, we created NAWA Luminaries, NAWA News articles highlighting historical members in the news. This site honors the mission of NAWA which, as listed on our website, is to promote awareness of and interest in visual art created by women in the United States.
Our ability to capture and store information has changed exponentially since NAWA was founded in 1889, and we have the opportunity to honor the work and efforts of these women. In addition to researching our dedicated Past Presidents, our Historical Research Team has been focusing on historical members whose work is currently in exhibitions or whose support of women artists is newsworthy. To this end, we invite our members in all categories to join us in our research and interview efforts. If you would like to talk to people instead of reading about them, we have recent past presidents who would love to hear from you. If you enjoy researching documents and websites, you can choose any of our earlier Past Presidents, HVPs, or historical members to see if you can find any information about them, their art and their work.
This is a perfect Micro Project if you are looking to fulfill your yearly 6-hour-per-year volunteer suggested commitment.
