Sleeping Beauty
10 x 13″
photography on canvas

In Walt Disney’s 1959 animated musical, Sleeping Beauty slept on a bed of roses. My photograph creates a disconnect from the memory of that film and draws in the viewer.

In this photo, the sleeping princess’ gown flows elegantly over her horse, unaware that the nearby prince will soon awaken her. This dissociation with the original film evokes curiosity and prompts the viewer to look at the photograph more closely.

I captured this photo with my iPhone at the Horses and Harmony charity fundraiser for our town’s symphony orchestra.
