  • acrylic on paper, cut into pieces and woven 19 x 25" Trying new things always interests me! I have worked with many different mediums in many different ways, and this past year I have found some new ways to work with paper. Using some of my collection of papers and weaving the papers makes an intricate relationship of the papers and expresses a new-found way of interaction. Working with acrylic pens in my sketchbook has lead me to a joyful way of expression. It is drawing and painting together in a new way. Using my sketchbook work to produce bigger sizes is what is happening. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • watercolor 13 x 17 x 1" During the Pandemic, I spent quite some time sketching my houseplants! I then abstracted the forms to achieve this painting. I like to use watercolor in a non-traditional sense-emphasizing the use of color.

  • watercolor 24 x 32 x 1" During the Pandemic I sketched objects around the house. Pictured are 2 figurines: an owl and a turtle. I painted many watercolor variations of these two. In the submitted painting I was inspired by the light playing on the objects, and the light coming from the objects themselves. Rotating the image achieved the desired effect!

  • Watercolor on paper 16 x 22 in   Miriam Shorr Memorial Award for Watercolor Works on Paper
  • pastel on paper, mounted photograph 25 x 32" My assemblages: pastel on paper and mounted photographs, are created by layering juxtaposing elements: nature vs. glitter. The viewers are immersed into my glowing, dazzling world of color, light, dimension and beauty. The effects are invigorating and enlightening and allows the viewer to pause and restore. I create these stills by combining the elements: ie. photographs of the landscape in seasons and detailed photographs of glowing or glittering moments. The paralleling objects are added to accentuate these phenomena. These compelling compositions are the culmination of many carefully executed steps that define my unique creative process. My most memorable highlight was being reviewed by Sam Hunter, Art Critic and Historian of Modern and Contemporary Art who found my work “refreshingly unique”. This has been a common theme among many of her positive reviews. “Nancy offers a “different” approach and passion to drawing. She is consistent in her vision…one can always recognize her signature style no matter how much she has changed or grown.” Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • Acrylic, Flashe & Mica on paper mounted on Foamcore 18 x 24"
  • acrylic & mica on canvas 30 x 24" My current work is about the collective unconscious, the evolution of language and the urge to write. Over time I have invented a symbolic language that borrows from ancient symbols but represents no language system but my own, hybrid, created one, that continues to evolve with each new piece I make. The work is meant to be read as language that has no signified meaning other than the viewers interpretation.

  • egg-tempera on panel 16 x 12" I am committed to creating work that radiates positive vibes and deep contemplation. My artistic aspiration, rooted in respect for Nature and Human beings, is often expressed in abstract form. I also explore human consciousness concepts in figurative works, such as perception, cultural beliefs, traditions, and lifestyles. I work in series or interdisciplinary collections that form a cohesive narrative. I love experimenting with materials and mixing the media in 2D and 3D works as I adapt to environmentally clean techniques, utilizing non-toxic materials. I believe in the interconnectedness of all things. In my work, I link the qualities of the natural elements with various cultural symbols and draw visual parallels of these correlations, using organic forms and interwoven trajectories. I am exploring the dynamic of movement and light - the light reflected on the surfaces of sculpture, and the inner light that works of art emanate, reflecting the artist’s intention. My process is intuitive and so are my findings. The unknown is what inspires me and keeps me going.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • bronze, wood 15 x 10 x 8"
The Whirling Darvish sculpture is inspired by the essence of a traditional Sufi spinning meditation practiced by the Dervishes of the Mevlevi Order, in which the practitioner abandons his ego and connects with the divine in a rotating trance by listening to the flute music and symbolically resonating with the spinning planets, partaking of the Oneness of the Universe. Today, the meaning of this meditation puts on a fresh spin when practiced by non-secular dancers united in humanity and humility, harmonizing with each other and with the Cosmic vastness.

  • Stoneware 14 x 11 x 6"
This entry contains a union of opposites of organic and non-organic nature, growth and rigidity, biomorphic shape and rough texture, presence and absence of color, fragility and visual sturdiness of the material. Bounded, the inflexible, colorless, yet intricate organic form resembles a crouched figure from the classical era.

  • egg tempera on wood 14 x 11" A portrait in traditional egg tempera of a young art student connects the contemporary urban aestetic with the idealized portraiture of the High Rennaissance, commissioned to decorate lavish palazzos’ chambers of the nobility. The sword earring indicates the rebellious loyalty to the virtues of the humanistic ideals.

  • ceramic 12 x 12 x 9" The family unit is a medium between personal and social realms. Family is a medium where individual growth occurs in conjunction with interrelationships. It is a space of safety, acceptance, and extreme challenges to harmonize with one another. It is a golden middle between the eternal and the daily. A spirit of protection mediates a family. There are also daemons in the same media, to confuse, and misguide family members, to test their loyalty and their love. Finding a golden ratio among all family members while negotiating individual integrity is a happy medium. In the English language, the word medium has about 7 meanings, all of which can be seen as relevant to the concept of Family.

  • sculpture 11 x 10 x 2" I am interested in the expression of color and reflections as a language. Because of the transparent nature of plexiglass it is possible to create visual statements of color and hue that are not available with other materials. My work explores the nature of individual colors and their interaction and reflections. The composite of the individual components creates a distinctive visual statement. My work is meant to be joyous and celebratory.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • plexiglass/wood 12 x 12 x 2" Color and reflected light have long been my areas of interest. Creating abstract sculpture using Plexiglas offers a significant ability to produce work with unique colors. Each sculpture alters when viewed from different vantage points. My work explores the abstract interaction of individual colors overlapped or set next to each other to produce a variety of tones and hues. The composite of all the individual components creates a distinctive visual statement. The sculptures are sensitive and meditative. They celebratory and joyful.
