In Tales of a Consulting Detective, Sherlock Holmes said: “You see, but you do not observe. The distinction is clear.” I take my camera out. I may choose a subject; I may think “that would make a great picture”; I may visit a new place or one I’ve seen before. I want to observe and to present things in a way that causes the viewer to stop and observe.  We have the technology to immediately capture whatever is in front of us. The challenge is for people to slow down; to question whether there is only one way to look at something; and to search for new meaning in something they may have seen before.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

I am trying to both represent and share that language, deleting most of the information about the land and vegetation that makes up the reflection, which results in an abstracted presentation.

Ego is a significant part of self-esteem, self-worth, self-confidence, and self-image.  We care for it, caress it, allure it, so it stays with us, loves us, and lives in us. Although it is the part of the mind that mediates between the conscious and the unconscious, it's responsible for reality testing, and we need it for a sense of personal identity. Overindulgence in loving yourself may bring Ego to a dangerous state that might hurt us. The Ego separates us from ourselves and becomes an unhealthy sense of superiority and importance. It brings arrogance and self-centered ambition. It becomes our enemy. So, what does one do? Live with the enemy? Tame it? Or maybe killing it is the answer?

  • oil on canvas 18 x 24" This artwork was born right after Hurricane Sandy caused major devastation along its path. Seeing the destruction of her home and city, the artist found solace in her community's unity to rebuild. The artists went through personal hurricane around the same years, and her work is a tribute to a human spirit and strength. Using the Peacock as a symbol of resilience and beauty, she portrays a world where human can conquer even the most catastrophic events. Through her use of vibrant colors and intricate details, the artist captures the essence of this remarkable spirit, portraying a world in which even the darkest of moments can be transformed into a source of fortitude and inspiration.

  • Painting Still Life with a Chocolate Bar 16 x 20 x 1 in. My goal for some years now have been to work with only two or three colors and their variations in a painting in order to achieve the full sound of these colors.  This is a relatively new task for me, it’s captivating to work on it. In Still Life with a Chocolate Bar the contrast main colors :  black, silver, orange - red ,  the combination of empty shiny  silvery and black vessels on an orange and  brick - red background  are supposed  to evoke certain associations and mood. • printmaking 5 x 3" The theme of self-introspection is crucial to my art, since I believe that only by delving into the enigmas of the self can an individual truly engage with the world and bring about change in a profound, meaningful way. Though I consider myself primarily a Symbolist, my art draws on a wide variety of mythologies, worldviews, religions, and literary traditions, both ancient and modern, ranging from Buddhism to Russian folklore.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

This painting was inspired by the flowers on the tropical brugmansia plant I have been overwintering for years and abstractly by images of the galaxy in which we are a part. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant community of life in my garden, my flowers invite universal questions of existence and purpose in their quest for survival, eventual senescence, and rebirth. The merging of the visions of space with the identifiable floral images by using transparent glazing between the micro and macro visions symbolizes the interconnectedness and fragility of all life, underscoring the need for open discourse to ensure universal survival.

  • oil painting 24 x 24" This artwork sparks a vital conversation reflecting the interconnectedness and balance within the microcosm of my garden and the macrocosm of the cosmos. My work draws inspiration from the life cycle of flowers to explore existential questions about existence, purpose, fragility, and interconnectedness. By blending recognizable floral imagery with cosmic visions through layered, transparent glazing techniques, the painting symbolically merges the micro and macro realms. This convergence aims to underscore how all life forms, from the smallest flower to the vast cosmos, are intricately connected and demand an open dialogue to ensure the survival of this universal interdependence.
