Inside Story Acrylic on Canvas Size: 11 x 14 My commitment to abstraction lies not in deciphering a clear path through the process but instead in embracing the pleasure of wandering and finding joy in the journey of being lost. I strive for dynamic and unpredictable compositions with elements that collide, balance, dangle, and hint at unexpected outcomes and intentional disparity. This disparity reflects my reaction to the day-to-day trickster that is life. The pieces submitted draw inspiration from the perceptual landscape, capturing nature through the prisms of memory, sensory experience, and artistic interpretation. Marshall Printmaking Size: 8 x 12 Framed Size: 12 x 15 I make prints and drawings of the people I love, the people who are part of my community. I find them in their spaces and reveal a bit about them through the objects, light, and compositions I find them in. Sometimes I make self-portraits, too. I am trained in traditional figure drawing and work most often in soft pastel, but I am a firm believer in learning new processes--the monotypes here are examples of this. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Glimpses Acrylic Paper Size: 10 x 10 My artistic practice is a celebration of the ordinary. I find inspiration in the everyday objects surrounding me, from familiar household items to personal possessions. I aim to reimagine these commonplace subjects through vibrant colors and bold compositions, inviting viewers to see them in anew. By delving deeper into their forms and textures, I seek to uncover hidden beauty and add a layer of intrigue to the familiar. I believe that art can be found in the most unexpected places. By focusing on the details of our everyday lives, I hope to encourage viewers to appreciate the beauty and wonder that exists in the ordinary. I hope to create thought-provoking work, prompting viewers to question their perceptions and see the world around them in a fresh way. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

This Side Up Acrylic on Cradled Wood Size: 10 x 10 My paintings are about capturing the energy of life and I hope my viewers feel a sense of happiness when they see my work. Painting is a form of meditation, and my creative force is grief. I have found that immersing myself into creating has helped me throughout my journey of healing, and the process and vibrant colors boost me to a more optimistic state of mind. I am drawn to circles as they symbolize an eternal rhythm of revitalization. Every challenge or misstep we encounter marks another revolution around the circle. Through these cycles, we have the opportunity to learn and grow from our experiences. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Exit Neon Photography Size: 11 x 14 As a mixed media artist, I have spent years exploring and combining various materials to express the intricacies of human memory, emotion, and perception. My work often bridges 21st-century Modernism with the new realism movement, capturing not what is seen, but what is felt and remembered. The intuitive realism at the heart of my paintings has led me on a journey to explore photography as a new medium in my artistic practice. Although my roots are in painting, I began developing my photography work in earnest just last year, bringing with it a fresh dimension to my exploration of light, color, and texture. Photography allows me to capture fleeting moments, unveiling hidden beauty in the everyday. It is an evolution of my mixed media approach, focusing on the delicate interplay between light and shadow, abstraction, and the way our eyes perceive the world around us. In my photographs, I seek to express not just the subject, but the emotional and sensory experience of the moment. Each image is an invitation to see beyond the surface, to find resonance in the seemingly ordinary, and to embrace the energy that exists in the unseen. Through photography, I continue to challenge myself and my artistic practice, using the camera as another tool to reveal the truths that lie beneath the surface. I am excited by the endless possibilities this new medium offers and look forward to sharing more of this evolving work with the world. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Veil Sculpture Size: 12 x 6 x 6 I create expressive, sculptural forms from natural materials, drawing inspiration from both nature and the human figure, often leaning towards abstraction. The unique characteristics of each piece of stone or wood present distinct technical and creative opportunities. I approach my work through a blend of intuitive processes and calculated solutions, using pneumatic and electrical tools to shape the material and finishing each piece meticulously by hand. My work, characterized by smooth, organic shapes, evokes a sense of serenity and contemplation while fostering a connection with the natural environment. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Sunlight on the New Mexico Mountains Watercolor Size: 8 x 8 Framed Size: 10 x 10 My submitted painting, “Sunlight on the New Mexico Mountains,” is part of a series titled 100’ from Home. While tending to my garden or enjoying moments with my dog in the yard, I began to notice the breathtaking views that surrounded me. Unfortunately, many of these open landscapes are disappearing. My gouache painting series aims to capture these precious scenes before they are lost to urban development or the impacts of climate change. Through this work, I hope to express my deep connection to nature and share it with viewers, embodying the concept of biophilia—the human connection to the natural world. My creative process is rooted in personal experience; I exclusively use my own photographs that I take within 100 feet of my home. The reference photograph serves as a loose guide, allowing me to explore the essence of the landscape rather than sticking strictly to details. I work with traditional gouache paint on Ampersand Clayboard cradled panels, a choice I made after developing an allergy to acrylic paint. This medium provides a velvety, soft, and atmospheric quality, perfectly reflecting the beauty of the high mountain desert of New Mexico. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Looking Inward Encaustic Size: 5 x 7 Framed Size: 10 x 12 Whenever I venture into the city I am on the lookout for images that can be translated into encaustic pieces. There is much to chose from although one of my favorite subjects are the people of New York, going about their day. These pieces reflect a moment in time, specifically during the year 2024. Contemporary now, perhaps vintage in the future. Encaustic is a process in which you paint with melted wax, fusing each layer together. I often incorporate a toner transfer, developed from the photographs I’ve taken. Depending upon the technique used, multiple layers can add a depth to the overall piece. When the encaustic is polished it gives a luminescence not seen in other mediums. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Meat on Butcher Paper Acrylic on Canvas Size: 14 x 11 Inspired by the Spanish artist Goya and the French artist Chardin's still-life paintings, I explore themes of death and deterioration in my paintings. My artworks are in every way unlike the traditional still life paintings, they are raw and brutal, provocative in their simplicity and directness. My paintings are at once both macabre and stunningly alluring. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Heartfelt Remembrance #18 Mixed Media: Acrylics, inks, medium, collage, aquarelle, wire Size: 12 x 12 This series holds a special place in my heart. The year 2020 brought profound loss, touching lives directly and indirectly, leaving us with broken hearts. As we grieve and mend, we carry the memories of our loved ones, finding strength in the process of stitching together what remains. When I began this series, the compositions were infused with affirmations and quotes about loss—words that remind us how to carry on while holding those we've lost close to our hearts. These pieces speak to the unseen yet felt presence of our loved ones, always beside us, guiding and watching over us. In my own life, I’ve had moments where I narrowly escaped harm and felt the comforting, heavenly presence of my mother. These experiences inspired the affirmations embedded in this series. Each work in Heartful Remembrance incorporates two or more quotes, some hidden beneath layers of the composition, others faintly visible. Whether seen or unseen, I believe these words emanate an energy of love and hope, carrying blessings to those who connect with the work. In light of ongoing global challenges, I dedicate this series to honor those who have fought and continue to fight for their rights and freedoms. It is my hope that these pieces offer solace and inspiration to all who encounter them. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

What Does She Know? Mixed Media Acrylic on Collage Paper Size: 10 x 8 Framed Size: 14 x 11 In bursts of spontaneity, my initial images are often be inspired by nature or figures. I love it when suddenly I “see” something suggested within the seemingly random marks. They surprise and delight me. My style is rhythmic, colorful and energetic. I am simultaneously inspired by the abstract expressionists and the precisionists – striving for balance in many ways with clean lines and quiet conversations. Painting is a Zen experience for me. Despite procrastinating on the front end, once I get started, I am energized by and lost in the process. I engage in a great deal of self-talk in color mixing and selection, mark making, and always, always tweaking. My nemesis is keeping my hands off a piece I’ve already deemed complete! Often the meaning behind the content emerges after it's done and subjected to contemplation. My titles strive to give a hint of what the piece represents for me yet leaves the viewer to wonder as well. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

The Care and Feeding of Birds Digital Drawing on iPad Size: 14 x 11 Gesture and the human condition are the impetus for my work. I look for images in the newspapers, magazines and ads to use as models. An interesting gesture or the interaction between two or more people stimulate my imagination. The painting or drawing has its own direction and is quite a departure from the initial inspiration. My choice of color is also a tool to direct the narrative of my work. It’s my intention to tell a story. The placement of objects and the facial expression and posture of my subjects are meant to nurture the tale. Often, I draw or paint from my imagination. The subjects or objects are invented. The possibilities for narrative are limitless. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Insert Lace Silverpoint and Washi on archival paper Size: 10 x 7 Since I work from real life and am fascinated by the details one can see in the natural world, silverpoint’s quiet voice lends itself to the intimate. Since erasure is virtually impossible in this medium, the subject tends to dictate what to draw and how… which means that there is a quiet dialogue between – say, a feather or a flower – and part of my brain as I develop the drawing. It becomes entirely intuitive, for better or for worse! But nonetheless these drawings allow a rewarding glimpse at the intricacies of nature. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Bolt Bronze Sculpture Size: 11 x 15 x 4 Living in Kentucky, where horses are the great charm of the countryside, I am inspired by their friendliness, curiosity, grace. and beauty. Quite often, while stopped in traffic along the road, the horses come to stand by the fence and commune with the drivers. One such horse, grabbed my fancy and, the next thing I knew, he began to appear in the slab of black Tennessee marble I was working. A few years later, I converted the stone sculpture into a bronze edition of 9. A much larger version of the horse resides in a private collection in Kentucky. Although not a typical, traditional horse sculptor, I love to capture the abstract essence of the horse. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Reflections Mixed media on canvas Size of piece: 12 x 12 Size of piece framed: 13 x 13 My work focuses on exploring color, shape, and line. New Year’s Day Oil on Board, Plein Air painting in PA Size: 8 x 10 Oil paints have a delicious, buttery consistency, have various translucencies, and painting makes me happily meditative. Juilliard and Columbia-trained in piano, the arts, and dentistry, I feel that fine art overlaps with great music. Both can evoke feelings of awe, serenity, and happiness. I want to share these emotions through annual piano concerts and my paintings. Transcendent music and art inspires me. I admire work of Inness, Constable, Turner, Tiffany and Parrish. Whether plein air painting or working indoors with an underpainting, I try to capture inner peace and joy through a vista with an atmosphere of this moment. I envision spreading inner joy to a world of viewers. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Universe Series - Saturn Siesta Serigraphy or silkscreen print Size of piece: 8 x 8 Size of piece framed: 15 x 15 Universe Series uses a variety of animals to represent life as they ponder the latest scientific theories concerning the Universe. These playful explorations look towards Space and at humankind's reaction to it. The three serigraphs I submitted for this exhibition are titled Saturn Siesta, Rabbit Hole, and Milky Way. Saturn Siesta invites us to think about what makes up the rings of Saturn while Rabbit Hole takes a look at the black hole that keeps our galaxy together. Milky Way asks us why we see heaven when we look up at the stars? Serigraphy. is a modern printmaking method with a very old history. Stencil-based, hand-made prints originated during the tenth century in China. They made their first appearance in Europe around the 18th century and are used throughout the world today. This mode of printmaking has evolved over time, so that Modern artists such as Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall, Pop artists such as Andy Warhol and Peter Max, and Contemporary artists such as Shepard Fairy and me, have found it an attractive medium for the creation of fine art. What makes serigraphy the perfect printmaking method for my art, is I can retain areas of pure white paper, capture the tonality of my drawings, and place blocks of intense color that either overlaps part of the image, or lightly kisses the edge of image. My serigraphs are all hand-made, small-edition prints, that use my graphite drawings as their basis, and are original works of art. Tapestry in Cerulean Blue Mixed Media Acrylic Size: 14 x 11 I consider myself an abstract intuitive painter. Adding one layer at a time. I develop my style using color coordination and lines.and shapes. I also use geometric pieces, sometimes in the form of painted paper, to add form and dimension. My blank canvas begins without preconceived notions which allows my instincts and emotions to guide me. This intuitive style encourages me to use creative thinking and experimentation to expand the process. My imagination helps shape my unique artistic vision. This process results in one-of-a-kind pieces allowing the viewer to trust their instincts and letting their emotions guide their appreciation. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

The scenic window of Huangshan (6) Mixed Media Ink on Canvas Size: 15 x 12 I'm an artist based in Los Angeles and Hong Kong. While my work is best described as abstract, I primarily draw inspiration from the Earth's beautiful natural resources as well as its landscapes. My choice of tools often involves working with ink and acrylic as both mediums flow graciously and lusciously, helping me achieve my vision. Additionally, coming from a jewelry background, which requires a great deal of imagination and creativity, I've been able to transfer those skills to my work as an artist. I have found it easier to visualize my painting's setting, placement, color tones, and orientation before my paintbrush hits the canvas. After spending years designing jewelry pieces, I've found myself increasingly drawn to sparkle and sophistication. As such, when I paint, I look for bold colors to emit feelings of passion, freedom, and positive energy. To me, it's most important to focus on formal color relationships and visual composition. Serene Photography Size: 7.5 x 9.5 Framed Size: 11 x 14 Morning of winter Solstice surprised me with snowy blanket covering the construction site in our park. The photo didn't require much of creative photo process as the photo was taken at dawn. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Koi Fish: Where's Dinner Pastel on Paper Size: 11 x 14 I am a modernist, realist, figurative painter, and I love to paint scenes from my travels and everyday life which tell a story. I take a subject which I find beautiful or interesting, and paint it in a way that allows the viewer to see it realistically for what it is, with a touch of mystery or style added to emphasize the other forces going on below the surface. With oils, I accomplish this by using an acrylic underpainting, which I allow to show through in places. In soft pastels, I use watercolor, inks, or alcohol washes for the underpainting. For example in “Three Wise Men”, I used a multicolored geometric pattern as an underpainting to give the viewer an added perspective. I love to paint my stories, and my goal is to have the viewer enter my world and share in my experiences. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Iris Deconstructed Watercolor Size: 11 x 8 Framed Size: 15 x 12 I love viewing natural objects as potential paintings. Nature soothes me, and my watercolor art aims to create a peaceful feeling using vibrant colors and intricate patterns. I find childlike wonder in watching water create beautiful shapes. Though I enjoy painting outside, my best work happens in the studio, allowing me to focus on evoking the emotions I want my art to convey. My goal is to create soothing and captivating watercolor paintings that offer viewers a serene escape into the beauty of nature. Oil All My Favorite Colors Size: 50 x 26 x 3 My submissions represent the most current work I have completed. The figurative series was intended to encompass all things about creation. The cubist quality happened rather organically while I was troubleshooting creative ways to represent parts of a figure, and the pieces that make up a whole being. These are only two examples, while some of the works not pictured are more irregular and varied shapes, rather than the hard-edged linear shapes seen here. The pallet varies as well but overall the works are a neutral with vibrant undertones. The contour lines will appear and subtly disappear. I enjoyed the thinking process behind the pieces as much as the actual creation of them. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Acrylic on Canvas Love and Beloved Size: 48 x 48 x 3 Birds began to appear in my work at the start of the Pandemic. The beginning of the bird fashionistas - little characters that emulate the personalities of the people around me: They are fun to make and are a constant reminder of what is important in my life. When someone asks me “What happened to you during the pandemic?” I think “Well, a lot,” but the constant reminder of life came from looking through the living room window, watching a cascade of different types of birds vying for their spot at the bird feeder. Over and over and over! So many hours spent on the sofa just watching them and being thankful for being alive. While sitting on that sofa I did draw a LOT in my journal book. I wrote about the places I’ve been to, the people I’ve been with, meanings of the icons and images I was incorporating in my work. When we all began to venture out of our houses, I was more mindful of the journaling process and drawing the “memories” of place. The images in the journal book are the genesis of this work. Mixed Media Blues Bird Size: 28 x 26 These two paintings are part of a series of Blue Paintings I have done over the years. So this is not really a “Blue Period” a la Picasso, but a sustained interest in returning to blue over the years, from time to time. “Blue Girl” can be said to sustain one reading of the idea of blue, as in waking up with the blues, and going to bed that way too. “Blues Bird” refers to the idea of blue in its “blues music” musical context, which can include joy and vitality. “Blues Bird” also expresses my interest in texture and mixed media in my paintings, although I also think “Blue Girl” is also a painting that includes a sense of texture. Within Darkness Size: 16 x 16 x 0 Framed Size: 17 x 17 x 0 As my body ages and time takes its toll, I am still that being that is strong in spirit and has hidden crevices and potential for growth. As a female, I have a strength that is within my being. Time has not taken that away from me. My floral entity is a metaphor for what it means to me to be female- the hidden beauty, the unfolding forms that are under my surface. I am more than what you see - I am a being that is strong and resilient in spirit. This strength is how I navigate living-the challenges of time. Within is painting that reflects this strength. Acrylic on Canvas Sacre Sanguis Size: 36 x 12 x 0 Sacre Sanguis celebrates the unique feminine relationship to blood. In writing about the origins of life, Carl Sagan wrote “The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our applies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of star stuff.” The painting includes imagery of constellations and stars to reference that origin of all life on earth. Circles of tick marks suggest sunlight and the circle of life. Literal seeds –some dispersing--populate the canvas. Other dots and whorls reference the molecular basis for life. Lines of energy shoot across the canvas. And all float in the sea of sacred feminine blood, reminding us that women have significant literal, figurative, and spiritual power in the life of our entire planet. Photoencaustic Jules Size: 24 x 18 Framed Size: 25 x 19 “Strong” and “Woman” These principles come together in Jules, my muse for a season. During this season of collaboration, Jules became an artist alongside me, using her body to share her story—our story as women—of resilience and choices made. For this piece, I chose monochrome to emphasize form and lines: her feminine jawline and curl given to her by nature combined with her powerful muscles developed by her choices. By combining the photograph with encaustic wax, I sought to combine the physicality of the wax and texture with the physicality of her presence and inner beauty. Oil and Gold Leaf on Panel Bittersweet Size: 36 x 24 Framed Size: 36.5 x 24.5 The Bittersweet flower has been known to represent truth, persistence and resilience. The truth often being bittersweet. In this painting the woman holds the (flower of) truth and fights off the chaos in the world as represented by the geese with 'truth'. I feel truth is hard to come by and expensive today to verify, but is essential to shifting the balance of good/evil in the world towards good. Truth gives us strength and power even though it may be much smaller than the evil it fights. Geese for me represent chaos and are a local resident of my studio. I composed the image after the conception of the idea. The figure is an invention and is not a portrait of anyone in particular. Acrylic on Wrapped Canvas She's Odd But Nice 18 x 24 The past three years have been very difficult for me as I helped my daughter and a year later my son-in-law through chemo treatments for cancer. Both are in remission at this time. After this exhausting and emotionally trying time, I found myself a very different person. My painting felt inauthentic and forced as I tried to walk a path that was no longer me. I decided to develop a new path that was in line with the person I am now. I changed my painting methods by utilizing a painting wall rather than working flat. I now feel free to express myself in line and movement. My work became playful and meaningful again. Oil on Canvas Magic Carpet Ride Size: 20 x 20 Framed Size: 21 x 21 As a woman artist, I have many layers - deep and contemplative, enthusiastic and free, humorous, enamored of color and shimmer, deeply caring, and marveling at life. This painting captures all of those feelings and more. As a child I loved the Arabian Nights, the exoticism of Asia, the stars in the heavens, and anything surrounding water. This pieces comes as close to anything I've done to describe my inner feminine life force. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Digital Archival Photograph I Start with Fabric and Make the Environment Sing 16 x 20 I am passionate about photography as an art form. In a world overfull with images, ideas, and messages streaming at us at warp speed, there is profound value in the thoughtfulness, the provocation, the silent aesthetic, the power of a single image made with the vision and ever evolving techniques of fine art photography. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Acrylic on Art Board Untitled II-May 25, 2022 Size: 12 x 16 Framed Size: 16 x 20 Taking into consideration the tragedy of the Uvalde shooting, and experiencing the grief and angst that this gun violence and senseless killing of children and others continues, I poured everything-all the emotions I had into several pieces. My work endeavors to take all the conflict, tragedy and transmute it into visual harmony, in essence; take heat and make light. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Acrylic on Illustration Board Period Room Size: 10.5 x 8.5 Framed Size: 13 x 11 While most of my paintings are of exteriors: street scenes, building facades and the like. I have recently expanded my repertoire to include interiors. Perhaps because of traditional gender roles, interiors always seem to lend themselves more readily to a feminine perspective than other subject matter. That holds for the dioramic recreation of an eighteenth-century Bordeaux hotel room with its curved walls, delicate molding, ornate chandelier, statuary, and drapery at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is an intimate and romantic setting just waiting for two figures to appear. Alas one cannot enter; the doorway is cordoned off. However, the stagecraft that went into it can still be admired up close. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Oil on Canvas Floating on Hope Size: 18 x 36 Framed Size: 19 x 37 I find calm and comfort in the shapes used Mid-century art, particularly by Calder in his mobiles. This is why I am drawn to the leave of the eucalyptus. After a long series of realist still-lifes of these beauties, I began to play with them in the abstract. Here they are floating on what I imagine are good feelings and hope. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
