Iris Deconstructed Watercolor Size: 11 x 8 Framed Size: 15 x 12 I love viewing natural objects as potential paintings. Nature soothes me, and my watercolor art aims to create a peaceful feeling using vibrant colors and intricate patterns. I find childlike wonder in watching water create beautiful shapes. Though I enjoy painting outside, my best work happens in the studio, allowing me to focus on evoking the emotions I want my art to convey. My goal is to create soothing and captivating watercolor paintings that offer viewers a serene escape into the beauty of nature. Koi Fish: Where's Dinner Pastel on Paper Size: 11 x 14 I am a modernist, realist, figurative painter, and I love to paint scenes from my travels and everyday life which tell a story. I take a subject which I find beautiful or interesting, and paint it in a way that allows the viewer to see it realistically for what it is, with a touch of mystery or style added to emphasize the other forces going on below the surface. With oils, I accomplish this by using an acrylic underpainting, which I allow to show through in places. In soft pastels, I use watercolor, inks, or alcohol washes for the underpainting. For example in “Three Wise Men”, I used a multicolored geometric pattern as an underpainting to give the viewer an added perspective. I love to paint my stories, and my goal is to have the viewer enter my world and share in my experiences. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Mila Photography Size: 7 x 10 Framed Size: 9 x 12 Seeing this young girl enjoying the holiday season even under the veil of Covid's mask caught my eye. The scenic window of Huangshan (6) Mixed Media Ink on Canvas Size: 15 x 12 I'm an artist based in Los Angeles and Hong Kong. While my work is best described as abstract, I primarily draw inspiration from the Earth's beautiful natural resources as well as its landscapes. My choice of tools often involves working with ink and acrylic as both mediums flow graciously and lusciously, helping me achieve my vision. Additionally, coming from a jewelry background, which requires a great deal of imagination and creativity, I've been able to transfer those skills to my work as an artist. I have found it easier to visualize my painting's setting, placement, color tones, and orientation before my paintbrush hits the canvas. After spending years designing jewelry pieces, I've found myself increasingly drawn to sparkle and sophistication. As such, when I paint, I look for bold colors to emit feelings of passion, freedom, and positive energy. To me, it's most important to focus on formal color relationships and visual composition. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Tapestry in Cerulean Blue Mixed Media Acrylic Size: 14 x 11 I consider myself an abstract intuitive painter. Adding one layer at a time. I develop my style using color coordination and lines.and shapes. I also use geometric pieces, sometimes in the form of painted paper, to add form and dimension. My blank canvas begins without preconceived notions which allows my instincts and emotions to guide me. This intuitive style encourages me to use creative thinking and experimentation to expand the process. My imagination helps shape my unique artistic vision. This process results in one-of-a-kind pieces allowing the viewer to trust their instincts and letting their emotions guide their appreciation. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Universe Series - Saturn Siesta Serigraphy or silkscreen print Size of piece: 8 x 8 Size of piece framed: 15 x 15 Universe Series uses a variety of animals to represent life as they ponder the latest scientific theories concerning the Universe. These playful explorations look towards Space and at humankind's reaction to it. The three serigraphs I submitted for this exhibition are titled Saturn Siesta, Rabbit Hole, and Milky Way. Saturn Siesta invites us to think about what makes up the rings of Saturn while Rabbit Hole takes a look at the black hole that keeps our galaxy together. Milky Way asks us why we see heaven when we look up at the stars? Serigraphy. is a modern printmaking method with a very old history. Stencil-based, hand-made prints originated during the tenth century in China. They made their first appearance in Europe around the 18th century and are used throughout the world today. This mode of printmaking has evolved over time, so that Modern artists such as Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall, Pop artists such as Andy Warhol and Peter Max, and Contemporary artists such as Shepard Fairy and me, have found it an attractive medium for the creation of fine art. What makes serigraphy the perfect printmaking method for my art, is I can retain areas of pure white paper, capture the tonality of my drawings, and place blocks of intense color that either overlaps part of the image, or lightly kisses the edge of image. My serigraphs are all hand-made, small-edition prints, that use my graphite drawings as their basis, and are original works of art. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

New Year’s Day Oil on Board, Plein Air painting in PA Size: 8 x 10 Oil paints have a delicious, buttery consistency, have various translucencies, and painting makes me happily meditative. Juilliard and Columbia-trained in piano, the arts, and dentistry, I feel that fine art overlaps with great music. Both can evoke feelings of awe, serenity, and happiness. I want to share these emotions through annual piano concerts and my paintings. Transcendent music and art inspires me. I admire work of Inness, Constable, Turner, Tiffany and Parrish. Whether plein air painting or working indoors with an underpainting, I try to capture inner peace and joy through a vista with an atmosphere of this moment. I envision spreading inner joy to a world of viewers. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Bolt Bronze Sculpture Size: 11 x 15 x 4 Living in Kentucky, where horses are the great charm of the countryside, I am inspired by their friendliness, curiosity, grace. and beauty. Quite often, while stopped in traffic along the road, the horses come to stand by the fence and commune with the drivers. One such horse, grabbed my fancy and, the next thing I knew, he began to appear in the slab of black Tennessee marble I was working. A few years later, I converted the stone sculpture into a bronze edition of 9. A much larger version of the horse resides in a private collection in Kentucky. Although not a typical, traditional horse sculptor, I love to capture the abstract essence of the horse. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Insert Lace Silverpoint and Washi on archival paper Size: 10 x 7 Since I work from real life and am fascinated by the details one can see in the natural world, silverpoint’s quiet voice lends itself to the intimate. Since erasure is virtually impossible in this medium, the subject tends to dictate what to draw and how… which means that there is a quiet dialogue between – say, a feather or a flower – and part of my brain as I develop the drawing. It becomes entirely intuitive, for better or for worse! But nonetheless these drawings allow a rewarding glimpse at the intricacies of nature. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

The Care and Feeding of Birds Digital Drawing on iPad Size: 14 x 11 Gesture and the human condition are the impetus for my work. I look for images in the newspapers, magazines and ads to use as models. An interesting gesture or the interaction between two or more people stimulate my imagination. The painting or drawing has its own direction and is quite a departure from the initial inspiration. My choice of color is also a tool to direct the narrative of my work. It’s my intention to tell a story. The placement of objects and the facial expression and posture of my subjects are meant to nurture the tale. Often, I draw or paint from my imagination. The subjects or objects are invented. The possibilities for narrative are limitless. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

What Does She Know? Mixed Media Acrylic on Collage Paper Size: 10 x 8 Framed Size: 14 x 11 In bursts of spontaneity, my initial images are often be inspired by nature or figures. I love it when suddenly I “see” something suggested within the seemingly random marks. They surprise and delight me. My style is rhythmic, colorful and energetic. I am simultaneously inspired by the abstract expressionists and the precisionists – striving for balance in many ways with clean lines and quiet conversations. Painting is a Zen experience for me. Despite procrastinating on the front end, once I get started, I am energized by and lost in the process. I engage in a great deal of self-talk in color mixing and selection, mark making, and always, always tweaking. My nemesis is keeping my hands off a piece I’ve already deemed complete! Often the meaning behind the content emerges after it's done and subjected to contemplation. My titles strive to give a hint of what the piece represents for me yet leaves the viewer to wonder as well. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Heartfelt Remembrance #18 Mixed Media: Acrylics, inks, medium, collage, aquarelle, wire Size: 12 x 12 This series holds a special place in my heart. The year 2020 brought profound loss, touching lives directly and indirectly, leaving us with broken hearts. As we grieve and mend, we carry the memories of our loved ones, finding strength in the process of stitching together what remains. When I began this series, the compositions were infused with affirmations and quotes about loss—words that remind us how to carry on while holding those we've lost close to our hearts. These pieces speak to the unseen yet felt presence of our loved ones, always beside us, guiding and watching over us. In my own life, I’ve had moments where I narrowly escaped harm and felt the comforting, heavenly presence of my mother. These experiences inspired the affirmations embedded in this series. Each work in Heartful Remembrance incorporates two or more quotes, some hidden beneath layers of the composition, others faintly visible. Whether seen or unseen, I believe these words emanate an energy of love and hope, carrying blessings to those who connect with the work. In light of ongoing global challenges, I dedicate this series to honor those who have fought and continue to fight for their rights and freedoms. It is my hope that these pieces offer solace and inspiration to all who encounter them. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Meat on Butcher Paper Acrylic on Canvas Size: 14 x 11 Inspired by the Spanish artist Goya and the French artist Chardin's still-life paintings, I explore themes of death and deterioration in my paintings. My artworks are in every way unlike the traditional still life paintings, they are raw and brutal, provocative in their simplicity and directness. My paintings are at once both macabre and stunningly alluring. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Looking Inward Encaustic Size: 5 x 7 Framed Size: 10 x 12 Whenever I venture into the city I am on the lookout for images that can be translated into encaustic pieces. There is much to chose from although one of my favorite subjects are the people of New York, going about their day. These pieces reflect a moment in time, specifically during the year 2024. Contemporary now, perhaps vintage in the future. Encaustic is a process in which you paint with melted wax, fusing each layer together. I often incorporate a toner transfer, developed from the photographs I’ve taken. Depending upon the technique used, multiple layers can add a depth to the overall piece. When the encaustic is polished it gives a luminescence not seen in other mediums. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Sunlight on the New Mexico Mountains Watercolor Size: 8 x 8 Framed Size: 10 x 10 My submitted painting, “Sunlight on the New Mexico Mountains,” is part of a series titled 100’ from Home. While tending to my garden or enjoying moments with my dog in the yard, I began to notice the breathtaking views that surrounded me. Unfortunately, many of these open landscapes are disappearing. My gouache painting series aims to capture these precious scenes before they are lost to urban development or the impacts of climate change. Through this work, I hope to express my deep connection to nature and share it with viewers, embodying the concept of biophilia—the human connection to the natural world. My creative process is rooted in personal experience; I exclusively use my own photographs that I take within 100 feet of my home. The reference photograph serves as a loose guide, allowing me to explore the essence of the landscape rather than sticking strictly to details. I work with traditional gouache paint on Ampersand Clayboard cradled panels, a choice I made after developing an allergy to acrylic paint. This medium provides a velvety, soft, and atmospheric quality, perfectly reflecting the beauty of the high mountain desert of New Mexico. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Veil Sculpture Size: 12 x 6 x 6 I create expressive, sculptural forms from natural materials, drawing inspiration from both nature and the human figure, often leaning towards abstraction. The unique characteristics of each piece of stone or wood present distinct technical and creative opportunities. I approach my work through a blend of intuitive processes and calculated solutions, using pneumatic and electrical tools to shape the material and finishing each piece meticulously by hand. My work, characterized by smooth, organic shapes, evokes a sense of serenity and contemplation while fostering a connection with the natural environment. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Exit Neon Photography Size: 11 x 14 As a mixed media artist, I have spent years exploring and combining various materials to express the intricacies of human memory, emotion, and perception. My work often bridges 21st-century Modernism with the new realism movement, capturing not what is seen, but what is felt and remembered. The intuitive realism at the heart of my paintings has led me on a journey to explore photography as a new medium in my artistic practice. Although my roots are in painting, I began developing my photography work in earnest just last year, bringing with it a fresh dimension to my exploration of light, color, and texture. Photography allows me to capture fleeting moments, unveiling hidden beauty in the everyday. It is an evolution of my mixed media approach, focusing on the delicate interplay between light and shadow, abstraction, and the way our eyes perceive the world around us. In my photographs, I seek to express not just the subject, but the emotional and sensory experience of the moment. Each image is an invitation to see beyond the surface, to find resonance in the seemingly ordinary, and to embrace the energy that exists in the unseen. Through photography, I continue to challenge myself and my artistic practice, using the camera as another tool to reveal the truths that lie beneath the surface. I am excited by the endless possibilities this new medium offers and look forward to sharing more of this evolving work with the world. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

This Side Up Acrylic on Cradled Wood Size: 10 x 10 My paintings are about capturing the energy of life and I hope my viewers feel a sense of happiness when they see my work. Painting is a form of meditation, and my creative force is grief. I have found that immersing myself into creating has helped me throughout my journey of healing, and the process and vibrant colors boost me to a more optimistic state of mind. I am drawn to circles as they symbolize an eternal rhythm of revitalization. Every challenge or misstep we encounter marks another revolution around the circle. Through these cycles, we have the opportunity to learn and grow from our experiences. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Marshall Printmaking Size: 8 x 12 Framed Size: 12 x 15 I make prints and drawings of the people I love, the people who are part of my community. I find them in their spaces and reveal a bit about them through the objects, light, and compositions I find them in. Sometimes I make self-portraits, too. I am trained in traditional figure drawing and work most often in soft pastel, but I am a firm believer in learning new processes--the monotypes here are examples of this. Inside Story Acrylic on Canvas Size: 11 x 14 My commitment to abstraction lies not in deciphering a clear path through the process but instead in embracing the pleasure of wandering and finding joy in the journey of being lost. I strive for dynamic and unpredictable compositions with elements that collide, balance, dangle, and hint at unexpected outcomes and intentional disparity. This disparity reflects my reaction to the day-to-day trickster that is life. The pieces submitted draw inspiration from the perceptual landscape, capturing nature through the prisms of memory, sensory experience, and artistic interpretation. Flights of Love Mixed Media: Wood Panel Size: 11 x 14 Susan Fleming/S Lance /Fleming My recent directions are evolving into new creative self expressions, including spiritual renditions which are discovered while using many applications of multiple media layers; often mixing charcoal, colored pencil, water color, acrylics, pastels, fiber collage collections, and photoshop manipulated original photos & sketches, as well as found objects: seed pods, bark, etc. The pieces seem to evolve through processes which are comprised of continuous intuitive decisions developing in harmony. I do not have predetermined outcomes. I truly enjoy this ceaseless urge toward fresh original abstract creations. I pray my art endeavors emotionally engage the viewers’ inner soul/spirit and encourages personal healing, hope, and inspiration. Timeless Texture Encaustic Size: 10 x 8 This body of work is an exploration of the universal allure and symbolic significance of entry doors from diverse cultures around the world. As a traveler deeply attuned to the visual narratives embedded in architectural details, I have always been captivated by the intricate designs and historical echoes encapsulated within these humble thresholds. Photographing doors from bustling cityscapes to remote villages, I seek to capture not just their physical presence but the stories they silently hold. Each photograph serves as a portal, inviting viewers to contemplate the cultural heritage, craftsmanship, and societal nuances reflected in these everyday yet extraordinary structures. Inspired by these photographic narratives, I translate the essence of each door into encaustic paintings, employing this ancient wax painting technique to imbue my paintings with layers of texture, color, and symbolism. Through the meticulous process of encaustic, I aim to evoke a sense of nostalgia, curiosity, and wonder—inviting viewers to peer beyond the surface and envision the worlds that lie beyond each door. As Far as the Mind Can See Mixed Media Collage on Canvas Size: 14 x 11 I ofter find myself moved to comment on real issues that threaten our planet today, i.e., wars, plagues, climate change. At times, I express feelings of frustration; at others, I strive to express an optimistic vision that I hope will inspire others. I see myself as a storyteller. I hope to elicit both an intellectual response and one from the heart. I am drawn toward the use of symbolism, particularly hands and eyes. I am a mixed media artist, working mostly with acrylic paints and collage on canvas. This blending of different media enhances the visual mystery that I strive to express. Seated Nude White Stoneware Sculpture Size: 7 x 9.5 x 7.25 When I start working with a model, I make a few sketches to see how she poses and how the forms come together and her personal gestures. Family Group (Variation VIII) Collage Size: 9 x 12 Family Group and Animated Forms are recurring themes in all my 2D and 3D work. My interest is in exploring the boundaries between representation and abstraction. I reduce the subjects to bold, simplified forms and create excitement, tension and often lots of space in the artwork. Form, color and texture became increasingly important in development of the collage, and man-made and natural materials like felt, suede, velvet, paper, sandpaper and copper were incorporated into the pieces. This is an exciting, intuitive and challenging way to work. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

I Wonder... Pastel Size: 9 x 9 - I’m primarily a portrait artist as I find nothing more visually compelling, more inspiring, than the human face and figure. Much of my work is done through Zoom, which gives me the opportunity to paint people who can be anywhere. My usual chosen medium is soft pastels. - I was excited to paint the renowned actor Alfre Woodard at a Zoom session hosted by an artist who knew her. Starting with a pastel pencil sketch, I then used a yellow pastel pencil to indicate every place the light touched Alfre’s face and hair. Knowing the location of the lightest spots remained important when applying multiple layers of pastel pencil and soft pastel. I loved painting her beautiful hair, using many layers of alternating warm and cool colors. - I Wonder… is a pastel portrait of a model I’ve painted many times – I hoped to capture her intriguing expression as she appeared to be deep in thought. I used a similar process for this as for the Woodard portrait: after the initial sketch and yellow highlights, I applied multiple layers of pastel pencil and soft pastel to build up the image and convey a mood of quietness. - The model for Graceful is a dancer whose quick poses demonstrate her love of dance. These two simple, timed ink and watercolor sketches express my delight in her lovely movement. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Bogie is Bogie Acrylic on Canvas Size: 12 x 9 I’m a self-taught artist and have been around art my whole life. My mother painted, and my painter-uncle mentored with Yasuo Kunyoshi. Being from NY, I’ve often haunted the Met, MoMA, and the Whitney for years. I have a BA in theatre & English. An ESL teaching certificate, and Culinary Arts certificate. I’ve worked in theatre, film and television. For more than a dozen years I’ve worked with curators as a writer of museum exhibition audio tours. I started painting about ten years ago, often inspired by classic monuments in Italy where I spend time yearly. I want to create poetic interpretations freeing solid life from static poses. Recently, I’ve been diving in portraiture, in my naive style…colorful representations, loosening up the obvious. Wild Rabbit #62 Ceramic Sculpture with real 24k gold details Size: 9.5 x 4 x 3 A childhood love of fantasy finds its way into my work. I express the absurdity of life while drawing influence from unexpected sources like the lyrics of music and nursery rhymes. I have a clear vision of a finished piece before I start. With this idea in mind I immediately get started with a combination of wheel thrown pieces, coils and slabs. I alter by pinching, cutting and adding clay until my idea emerges. My pieces are decorated with colored slips and underglazes while still wet and then fired to 1830°. Adding pigmented washes and glazes for my next firing to 2232°. My final firing with 24k gold lustre completes the process. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Guardian XVI Mixed Media: paper, porcelain & crystal Size: 11 x 9.5 My tiny Earth Guardians are waste-safe vessels designed to keep plastic and other waste out of landfills. What began as a whimsical solution to weigh down my sculptures has evolved into a meaningful purpose: creating vessels to contain non-perishable waste—plastic, glass, metal, and other scraps—that enters my home. This ensures these materials are repurposed rather than discarded. Through my work, I aim to recycle and play a small role in managing waste responsibly. I also collect materials from my community, transforming what others discard into art. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

I'm A Goddess On Night Patrol Watercolor on Paper Size: 11 x 15 My inspiration comes mainly from my own experience, observations and understanding of human beings' existence in this world-- the struggle we go through to survive (get by), thrive and become happy and content. I like to study history and philosophy to learn about human nature. My artwork tends to capture various human feelings and emotions, and our persistent yearning for freedom, justice and truth. Occasionally, I create artworks that seems to show off-on-a-tangent imagination or whimsical humor, but they are also my reflections on our being in this world. I often use strong colors and mixed media, but for small works, I enjoy working with a single medium for each piece. For larger artworks, I frequently feature reflective materials in the mixed media, especially color foil. Color foil tape/paper generates brilliant flowing changing colors as a person moves in the space to view the artworks from different angles, informing the viewer that “change is norm”- we should learn when and how to let go of bad feelings. It also reminds the audience that truth can be multi-faceted: all we can see is just a part of it, so we should fare in this world with humility and tolerance. Let It Sing! Watercolor on Watercolor hot press paper Size: 10 x 13 The painting Let It Sing! was inspired by a moment I captured during a winter trip to New York, specifically in Central Park's Bethesda Terrace Arcade. The subject of the piece is a young woman busking with her guitar, and her face is filled with an expression of deep passion as she sings. The title, Let It Sing!, is drawn from the song "Let It Sing" in the Broadway musical Violet. In the show, a disfigured girl embarks on a journey of healing through faith and music. She meets a man who encourages her to embrace her voice, telling her, "You've got to give yourself a reason to rejoice / Cause the music you make counts for everything / Now every living soul has got a voice / You've got to give it room / And let it sing." The painting itself reflects that same message—the power of music to heal, express, and make one's voice heard. As I worked on the piece, I was drawn to the vibrant energy of the woman and the striking textures of the environment around her. The weathered stone wall behind her, with its intricate trompe l'oeil panels, echoed the colors of her shirt, creating a harmonious blend of background and subject. This "harmony" and her passionate expression captivated me and sparked my creative process. Let It Sing! captures the unspoken connection between artist and art, voice and music, and the healing power of self-expression. Within #3 Mixed Media Collage Size: 10 x 8 Framed Size: 14 x 12 I create abstract three-dimensional collage by transforming flat images and shapes into raised architectural forms that add depth, texture and shadows. Using paper in rich tones, I cut, score and fold to build these forms, then combine them with other materials, like photographs, wood, fabric, metal, plastic, and wire mesh. The juxtaposition of these elements -- casting shadows and highlighting contact points – enhances the intention of each piece. I find inspiration from African sculpture; the Constructivism, Geometric Abstraction, and Cubism art movements; the work of Louise Nevelson; the ‘illogical perspective’ of Giorgio de Chirico and M.C. Escher; Joseph Cornell’s shadow boxes; and Frank Stella’s metal reliefs, among many others. My work lands somewhere between the real and the imagined. Each piece features doorways, walkways and passages, leading the viewer to spaces of mystery, questions and the unknown. These pieces serve as visual metaphors for issues that impact me, from environmental concerns and global conflicts to the search for inner peace. As viewers consider this ‘almost-but-not-quite-real’ world, I invite them to ask questions, like: What is it? Where is it? What do I see and feel? And ultimately, do I find myself in it, or not? Through these questions, I aim to foster deeper connections and understanding, encouraging introspection and the recognition of our shared experiences. Cut and Paste Encaustic Size: 12 x 12 I have used the chair as my motif of choice in most of my work, drawing on its use as a metaphor for the human being and human nature. The artwork "Cut And Paste" was created as I was thinking about how the chair travels; that no matter where we find ourselves, no matter the environment the chair will always be be there, marking our place. "Prototype" is heavily layered, scraped and collaged as I explored the basic shape and ubiquitous quality of the chair throughout the history of mankind. The First Glow Collage with digital images and watercolor Size: 3 x 2 These works were inspired by the objects I found. "Burnin' Love )" was inspired by a found matchbox in the back of a drawer and I did a series of matchbox assemblages...this being one. My mom loved Elvis and took me to every movie he was in and I thought this would be a fun use of the piece. "The First Glow" was inspired by a pile of letters I found between a couple who wrote to each other and the letters revealed the development of the relationship and this piece is about how they both began to edge more towards love and "the first glow" or blossoming of new love...
