  • Hava Mixed Media on Paper Size of Piece: 24 x 18 x .05 As women, we are not simple. We are complex, exquisite beings that hold more potential than ever recognized. For thousands of years, across regions, for the sake of safety, we hid our true nature to accommodate those with made-up power. Now, we are leaping out of our assigned frames and are claiming our own narrative. Equality is a basic human right, a fundamental pillar in establishing a peaceful and prosperous world. While progress happens, there is still a great deal left to do. Girls and women continue to face significant challenges all around the world. Historically, though, women are described as goddesses, spirits, mythical beings from fairytales and scriptures - we are holy and dangerous. We are everything man desires and everything he fears, his source of life and his terror at the thought of death, of loss. All these contradictions stir many questions and emotions, but we learn to find the balance in life. Ego is a significant part of self-esteem, self-worth, self-confidence, and self-image.  We care for it, caress it, allure it, so it stays with us, loves us, and lives in us. Although it is the part of the mind that mediates between the conscious and the unconscious, it's responsible for reality testing, and we need it for a sense of personal identity. Overindulgence in loving yourself may bring Ego to a dangerous state that might hurt us. The Ego separates us from ourselves and becomes an unhealthy sense of superiority and importance. It brings arrogance and self-centered ambition. It becomes our enemy. So, what does one do? Live with the enemy? Tame it? Or maybe killing it is the answer?

  • The Weight of Letting Go
Watercolor, Acrylic and Metallic Paint on Paper
Size: 9 x 12.5" The Weight of Letting Go was born from a moment of deep introspection—a meditation on loss, transformation, and the quiet courage required to release what once defined us. I was inspired by the emotional complexity of letting go: the sorrow, the emptiness, and the freedom that can follow. The figure sits at the edge of a vast, silent landscape, her wings severed and placed behind. To me, the wings represent the identities, roles, and dreams we sometimes have to surrender—whether by choice or circumstance. The nudity is symbolic of vulnerability and the rawness of that experience. I chose watercolor for its fluidity and softness, which allowed me to express the delicate balance between heaviness and light, control and release. This piece is not just about loss—it's about the in-between. The space after something ends, but before something new begins. That liminal place where we sit, breathe, and eventually, rise. • oil on canvas 18 x 24" This artwork was born right after Hurricane Sandy caused major devastation along its path. Seeing the destruction of her home and city, the artist found solace in her community's unity to rebuild. The artists went through personal hurricane around the same years, and her work is a tribute to a human spirit and strength. Using the Peacock as a symbol of resilience and beauty, she portrays a world where human can conquer even the most catastrophic events. Through her use of vibrant colors and intricate details, the artist captures the essence of this remarkable spirit, portraying a world in which even the darkest of moments can be transformed into a source of fortitude and inspiration.

  • oil on canvas 40 x 30 x 1.5"
This painting was inspired by the flowers on the tropical brugmansia plant I have been overwintering for years and abstractly by images of the galaxy in which we are a part. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant community of life in my garden, my flowers invite universal questions of existence and purpose in their quest for survival, eventual senescence, and rebirth. The merging of the visions of space with the identifiable floral images by using transparent glazing between the micro and macro visions symbolizes the interconnectedness and fragility of all life, underscoring the need for open discourse to ensure universal survival.

  • oil painting 24 x 24" This artwork sparks a vital conversation reflecting the interconnectedness and balance within the microcosm of my garden and the macrocosm of the cosmos. My work draws inspiration from the life cycle of flowers to explore existential questions about existence, purpose, fragility, and interconnectedness. By blending recognizable floral imagery with cosmic visions through layered, transparent glazing techniques, the painting symbolically merges the micro and macro realms. This convergence aims to underscore how all life forms, from the smallest flower to the vast cosmos, are intricately connected and demand an open dialogue to ensure the survival of this universal interdependence.

I manipulated a photo of myself by turning it into a black-and-white jpg cut and rearranged it to become a graphic outline. I sewed some photos onto the paper with antique buttons, and used tracing paper to "cloud" some of the memories and outline. Working intuitively, I allow for mystery and unpredictability to dictate where the process leads. Living on Cape Cod, I am dazzled by the many moods of the ocean. Perhaps the most spectacular is the power of a storm. To capture my impressions of the drama, I begin with a large paintbrush and black ink.
