mica rock, fiber and molding paste, acrylics on wood cradle board 12 x 16 x 2" My inspiration came from challenging myself using unusual materials that I already had and a subject that I’ve never selected before. Working on a wooden cradle board, I glued on thin transparent layers of mica rock. A small palette knife with fiber and molding pastes were used to create the textured feathers. Acrylic pants completed the bas relief painting. I surprised myself with the results because I did not know if the combination would work.

mixed media 20 x 20 x 1" Playfulness is a sneaky way to allow the audience the freedom to enjoy new ideas. I use humor and whimsy to create unexpected associations that people can recognize. Bringing their own unique experiences and personal connections to my art, they are delighted when they feel a particular artwork is speaking directly to them. The story is something they can personally relate to, just like I do. I particularly enjoy the look in the eyes of an observer when they realize they are seeing a familiar tale, something from their own life, sometimes even a memory. There is excited screaming and laughing and so much thanks. I get a lot of hugs! Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

watercolor & mixed media on paper 30 x 23" I am an abstract painter, and I work primarily in watercolors with mixed media elements on paper. I’m inspired by the interplay of colors, shapes, and uneven lines, and I love the fluid, unpredictable nature of watercolor paints. I work very intuitively: I always have a starting point - a particular color combination or focal point - but then I just go wherever inspiration leads me, often surprising myself! My work is very influenced by nature, and I find myself particularly drawn to loose rounded shapes, which have become a recurring motif in much of my work. I often include botanical elements in my artwork, most of which have deep personal significance for me - reminding me of cherished people and places in my life. Painting brings me peace, balance, and joy, and it helps me maintain an even keel in our uncertain times. watercolor & mixed media on paper 25 x 21 x 1" This exuberant abstract watercolor piece is a reflection of the joy and engagement I feel when I'm painting. I created this piece last July, and I was clearly inspired by the lush and verdant summer foliage I love, which gave this piece its name: Flourishing.

acrylic and oil pastel on canvas 16 x 20" This piece is part of the Open to Interpretation Collection, which explores the ways in which we handle conflict and communicate (or don’t) with those around us - and the impact that has on our personal emotional landscapes. In a culture where many of us are too busy to actually look inward and be honest with ourselves, it is that much harder to be honest with each other. And whether with those closest to us or strangers - when we don’t communicate, we leave it open to interpretation. Acrylic 12 x 12 in. “Somewhere” was painted in my intuitive and expressive painting style. It is an exploration in color, texture, layering and abstract mark making. The painting is on a 12x12” wood panel, framed in a white frame. My goal is to help you see as much beauty in the world as I do, so everyone who comes in contact with my art feels just a little bit more alive - whether that's because of the vibrant, saturated colors, expressive movement, or because you can feel the emotion and energy embedded in my art.

Photography 11 x 14" Based in Hampton Bays on the East End of Long Island, I collect seashells and marine-life fragments from which I create small sculptures and abstract assemblies that form the basis of my photography. I am drawn to the soothing rhythms and repeating patterns of the design elements found in nature. I marvel at how their beauty endures, despite a tumultuous journey. My images try to capture that essence and share that feeling with others.

photography 20.5 x 19 x 1.25" In many ways, "Mussels on Tray" reflects the “lightbulb moment” in the development of my art form. It signifies the point in time during which I realized that the assemblies I was making from collected seashells and marine-life specimens, could be conveyed in photographs - still life’s that took on an almost painterly quality, highlighting the rhythm and repeating patterns found in nature. They twist and turn, nestled in one another, reflecting the force of movement that brought them to the shore, not unlike the force of movement that brought me to the full-time pursuit of creative expression – losing my daughter 13 years ago, when she crossed the street for a school bus in Los Angeles.

Oil on canvas 10 x 10 in. w/frame 10.5 x 10.5 in. I have long been fascinated with painting water in all it’s variations. I love the power and incredible colors present in the churning ocean as well as the quieter moods of a calm pond or the rushing of a stream over rocks. Recently, I got a dog who loves the water. I spend a lot of time with her and her dog friends at the beach or a pond. So it wasn’t much of a leap to want to try my hand at representing the joy of these ‘water dogs.” It’s a rich source of reference material watching these dogs being crazy, goofy and so very happy as they race play in the water or swim for balls and sticks. This painting is part of a series of dogs and water I am currently working on — the best of two things that I love! Oil 15 x 15" What began as a life painting session, The Chanteuse and the Nightingale evolved as a conceptual painting that recognizes the model, Mozelle Andrulot, and her talents as a jazz singer. With the loveliest sound of all song birds, the nightingale symbolizes Mozelle's marvelous jazz vocals. The distant view of low tide at dusk honors both the model’s first name, Hebrew for "drawn from the water,” and acknowledges that both the jazz chanteuse and the nightingale share their gift with us after the sun goes down.

stone sculpture 12 x 4 x 6" My recent work had consisted of abstracts and birds. But I was hankering to create another female form. The alabaster stone presented a deeply erotic natural fissure and fold formation on one side that I was completely drawn to and committed to keeping. Just as quickly, I saw a female form erupting out of the rest of the stone. I was struck by the idea of ‘the wild in us all’ and that this piece would illustrate that notion.

opalstone on granite 15 x 20 x 6" This sculpture was created in 2020 after George Floyd was murdered. My work often involves archetypal images like Sheela-na-gigs and vultures. The vulture harkens to the ancient Egyptian goddess Nekhbet. The vulture was the first image I saw in the stone. The Black Lives Matter protests in Portland continued for 100 nights. At one point, a nude white woman postured as a Sheela-na-gig, displaying her vulva toward the police. For me, she was the perfect back of the vulture as the vulture was the perfect front for the Sheela. Combined, they gave me hope for a new future.

Acrylic 14 x 11" As one of my earlier pieces of art, Animal Kingdom, was pivotal in understanding what I'm capable of as an artist. To me, this piece means so much more to me than an homage to the vivid and diverse colors and animals of our earth. It honors animals as sentient beings and draws a relationship from human to animal. We are more alike than we think. However, ultimately the meaning behind this piece is up to the viewer and whatever connection they inspire with it.

bronze 21 x 6 x 6" The wish for warmth and shelter after an earthquake and in the face of a winter storm is the subject of this sculpture. pastel 16 x 29 x 1" The ocean is one of my favorite subjects to paint because of its ever changing hues and shapes. I love painting waves and depicting the beauty and power of the wave just as it breaks. The flat water in the distance reflects the blues and purples from the sky. The true green color of the Atlantic Ocean can be seen as the wave crests.

pastel 19 x 23" My pastel paintings are inspired by my observations of nature. This painting is based on my photographs and memories of hiking in Bear Mountain State Park. I wanted to convey the vastness of the landscape and a feeling of awe in the view from atop Perkins Point.

Painting 14 x 11 in. This piece was inspired by a visit to the American College of Building Arts in Charleston, South Carolina.. Michaelangelo himself would have been right at home in the sculpture studio of this academy, I think what appealed to me about this piece, aside from its classical grace, was its status as a work in process, a timeless moment on the way to becoming a finished statue.
