acrylic on canvas 48 x 65" When people get married, they are in love and feel like on the cloud. But marriage life takes a lot more than feeling good. It also takes resistance, keeping the promise, forgiveness, etc. My painting is composed to show the contrast between the love high and the reality of married life. "The Kiss of Rodin" is painted on the cloud as a symbol of a trance moment of love while holding hands over letters of troubles of married life showing the physical and emotional tie of a married couple.

Digital Photography 24 x 35 x 1"I've been drawn to this space since the opening of new addition to Swartz Hall at Harvard University. It's an entryway connecting the existing Swartz Hall structure (built in 1911) and contemporary addition (built in 2021), which creates incredible flow of natural light. As I came to photograph this space for NAWA submission "Depth Perception", I encountered a permanent display of an ahkukq/cooking vessel, created by Artist and Mashpee Wampanoag member Nosapacket (Ramona Peters). Indigenous presence in clay provided an additional dimension of depth, so I reversed the image and it became "By the Well".

leather, silk, brass 14 x 8 x 22" Inspiration/intent: painting by Andes Zorn "Isabella Stewart Gardner in Venice", 1894. In the spirit of creative risk-taking, Isabella Gardner continues her mission by inspiring my sustainability project "Enigma of Footgear". I create 3-D works with outdated designer footwear, which can be perfect media for installations and sculptures with strong public statement or enigmatic silence. Enigma of Footgear is what grounds us, what connects us to the earth, and what carries us around. Isabella moves with grace and spontaneity: picks up her shoe, drapes with white silk and crowns with jewelry. She lets her swan out in the Fenway of Boston to swim in the Muddy River.

Acrylic on canvas 20 x 20 in. When I was a young girl, my dad taught me to swim. He'd let me hold onto him as he swam deep underwater....and I loved that feeling of gliding through the water, holding onto him. I never could last as long as he could underwater, and I'd have to let go and swim madly up for air. Those are some of my favorite memories with him...swimming. When he died, I dreamed we were swimming together again, only this time I was the one swimming deep underwater and he was the one swimming madly to the surface...and this time he went far further than the surface.; he went straight on into the sky. I woke up missing him, but happy we could swim together again...even if it is in my dreams. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

acrylic, oil pastel, graphite on canvas 35 x 36 x 2" It is the space between things that I find fascinating; the space between thoughts, between moments, between physical things. I have read that we are mostly the space between the atoms that make up our physical beings.; not solid at all, it turns out, but primarily the gap, the void, the opening between the atoms. I ask myself what lies in that space? Is this where we find spirit? or consciousness? I believe it is in the space between what we see that Life actually exists and that is where the focus of my art lies.

Acrylic 12 x 12" XOXO speaks to choosing joy in the midst of fear and opening your heart despite the danger that you may feel great pain and sorrow. When my son and his wife were expecting our first grandchild, we anxiously waited and watched… for this was a very complicated and dangerous pregnancy. From the moment I learned she was pregnant, I decided to feel all the joy, all the excitement, and let the fear take a backseat. This painting was created as we waited.

oil 9 x 12" Fine artist and humanitarian Laurie Elizabeth McKinley has dedicated her life to observing, documenting, and participating in the human experience. She has traveled the globe her entire life, compelled to observe and photograph the stories of vanishing cultures with compassion and humanity. She translates these increasingly rare images onto canvas, so that she might share them with the world and hopefully inspire change to protect diversity and the environment. Laurie Elizabeth paints in all genres, especially enjoying en plein air in villages throughout the world and capturing that very special “first feeling” -- the mystery of the moment, the chi, the magic. Laurie Elizabeth encourages all to see the imbalances and injustices in the world and be a voice for awareness and change. She wants humanity to see the the disappearing cultures, traditions, and heritages of the world. She believes the artist’s duty is to see the beauty in all humans and in Mother Nature. multiple photographs layered in Photoshop 16.5 x 11" Who am I? Who are you? Usually we see ourselves or others from a single perspective--especially in photography. That is why many celebrities feel they must only be photographed from a certain (most flattering) angle. But Picasso understood that even when we are looking at an object, a person we are really seeing everything we know about that individual. He applied this concept especially when depicting his beloveds and his rejected beloveds. I love the idea of multiple images incorporated into a photo, a medium that theoretically only captures a single moment in time. Educator Statement My artwork is grounding to my soul. I am taken aback by the beauty and intangible qualities of natural flora: the various textures; the amazing flowers and fruits and foliage; and most of all, the spectacular rejuvenation after what appears to be a most definite death in the bleakness of a cold, dark winter. In our largely urban society, the ability to appreciate our natural surroundings has become dulled-the ability to see the wonder in a tree, the magic and the mystery in a flower, the indescribable peace and contentment that can fill one’s heart. I try to show this to the viewer as my work is a surreal reminder of the peaceful, centered energy of the miraculous, natural living world which surrounds us. My collages are made from torn, recycled brown shopping bags. I am interested in the concept that the bags started out as trees and then were made into paper which was torn and collaged into an image of the natural world, which in itself provided the required inspiration and energy. A quiet harmonic stillness is comprehended. Poppies Recycled Brown Bags & Acrylic Collage on Canvas Size of Piece: 24 x 36 x 2 My work is a reminder of the peaceful, centered energy of the miraculous, natural living world which surrounds us. My collages are made from torn, recycled brown shopping bags that I first paint with acrylics and then rip them and adhere the pieces to canvas. I am interested in the concept that the bags started out as trees and then were made into paper which was torn and collaged into an image of the natural world, which in itself provided the required inspiration and energy. I hope that the viewer thinks that they are looking at beautiful and serene paintings at first glance, then discover that they are viewing a collage that involved a painstaking genesis in the studio. Each is the product of many months or years of work.In addition, the pieces are often autobiographical. brown bags, handmade paper & acrylic on canvas 17 x 21" I am taken aback by the beauty and intangible qualities of natural flora, the various textures, the amazing flowers and fruits and foliage, and most of all, the spectacular rejuvenation after what appears to be a most definite death in the bleakness of a cold dark winter. My artwork is made from simple materials and feature a pioneering collage application of acrylic paint, brown paper shopping bags and canvas. Inspired by nature’s beauty, my interest in this medium relates to the cycle of life and nature. The bags start out as trees, are made into paper bags, which I recycle, paint, tear, and collage into the image of the natural world which provided the original inspiration and energy.

Oil on Canvas Beauty of Love Size: 16 x 20 x 1 In this paintings, I explore the delicate interplay between love and hope through the vibrant depiction of flowers. Each bloom symbolizes a unique facet of love - passion, tenderness, and resilience - while their vivid colors represent the hope that springs eternal, even in the face of life's challenges. The gentle movement of petals and the harmonious arrangement invite viewers to reflect on their own experiences of love and the light it brings to our lives. These works serve as a reminder that, just as flowers bloom anew each season, love and hope can flourish, inspiring us to embrace the beauty in every moment. ink on paper 15 x 18" The Flotsam series follows my long interest in shallow water system imagery across sculpture, painting, and drawing projects. In this work I allow each material to inform the evolution of image making. Started during a road trip in 2023 with a small kit, I began these drawings with layers of brushed-on ink that got worked over with marker which rendered a silvery, burnished surface. These quickly became a process that encouraged intuitive shape-making, and where chaos on the page came to order through a network of connections.

Flotsam, Light Shaft in Pinkacrylic on cradled panelSize: 36 x 36"Flotsam, Light Shaft in Pink" presents an abstract narrative describing debris and light bouncing around an enigmatic water environment. The term “flotsam” speaks to a sense of the lost and found. Residing somewhere between landscape, figuration, and narrative, I present landscape elements in terms of parts that are disembodied and ready for arrangement. I like to play with their formal relationships, to jostle any sense of fixed placement. Forms that we might recognize as either shadow or structure become at once horizontal and vertical as they share the painted plane. A leaf can be both a figure in the landscape and a signal about decay. Shape becomes the result of withheld paint as well as applied.

acrylic on canvas 36 x 36 x 2" I’m interested in notions of landscape that focus on shallow water systems in both natural and man-made environments. The work combines representational and abstract approaches for a dialogue that addresses complexity and metaphor and which celebrates the intuitive response across painting, sculpture, drawing and print media. Composed Shallow (Three Leaves) proposes an intimate experience of a natural water system where familiar color, structure, and perspective are replaced and re-ordered.

ink on paper 10 x 8" I’m interested in notions of landscape that focus on shallow water systems in both natural and man-made environments. This work combines representational and abstract approaches for a dialogue that addresses structural complexity and metaphor and which celebrates the intuitive response across painting, sculpture, drawing and print media. The monoprint/monotype process that I explored in early 2023 became a way to expand my drawing practice and still convey a natural water system where familiar color, structure, and perspective are replaced and re-ordered.

charcoal, graphite, & ink collaged on gallery wrapped canvas 20 x 21 x 1.5" Finding Space boldly displays a figure I have been exploring for some time. Once timid and unsure, she is now settling into her environment, pushing against, and past, boundaries placed around her. While this piece did not begin as a true self-portrait, it grew into a solid representation of my own emergence as an artist. Reinventing myself in this next stage of life has brought me face-to-face with insecurity and self-doubt, but also revealed a strength and determination once forgotten.
