The Care and Feeding of Birds Digital Drawing on iPad Size: 14 x 11 Gesture and the human condition are the impetus for my work. I look for images in the newspapers, magazines and ads to use as models. An interesting gesture or the interaction between two or more people stimulate my imagination. The painting or drawing has its own direction and is quite a departure from the initial inspiration. My choice of color is also a tool to direct the narrative of my work. It’s my intention to tell a story. The placement of objects and the facial expression and posture of my subjects are meant to nurture the tale. Often, I draw or paint from my imagination. The subjects or objects are invented. The possibilities for narrative are limitless. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Mixed Media Painting 16 x 16 x 1 in. Figures and vessels have similarities and intuitively tend to appear abstractly and subtly in sketches and paintings. The basis of "Then There Were Five" is a mix of intuitive movement countered with the mindful placement of marks and shapes. My daily habit of drawing creates a starting point, which lends to primarily drawing with paint using a neutral and serene palette. Cyanotype and Watercolor on Paper Shower of Gold Two Size: 12 x 9 Framed Size: 16 x 12 My flower paintings embody the essence of the feminine spirit. They symbolize women's extraordinary resilience and adaptability in facing life's challenges. Each painting is a testament to their journeys of renewal, capacity to overcome adversity, and innate power to flourish. The golden accents highlight women's ability to shine brightly, even during dark times. Creating cyanotype paintings is part science and part intuition, and I'm never sure what I will get. I create cyanotypes using plants from my garden, light-sensitive chemicals, spices from my kitchen, and watercolor paints. I love the cyanotype process because the outcome is often a surprise due to the sun's variability, exposure length, chemical composition, and time of day. I finish each painting by using watercolors to modify and strengthen the composition to my liking. Glimpses Acrylic Paper Size: 10 x 10 My artistic practice is a celebration of the ordinary. I find inspiration in the everyday objects surrounding me, from familiar household items to personal possessions. I aim to reimagine these commonplace subjects through vibrant colors and bold compositions, inviting viewers to see them in anew. By delving deeper into their forms and textures, I seek to uncover hidden beauty and add a layer of intrigue to the familiar. I believe that art can be found in the most unexpected places. By focusing on the details of our everyday lives, I hope to encourage viewers to appreciate the beauty and wonder that exists in the ordinary. I hope to create thought-provoking work, prompting viewers to question their perceptions and see the world around them in a fresh way. acrylic on paper 22 x 40" For me, winter unfolds as a season of deep introspection and rejuvenation. It signifies a retreat, a gentle withdrawal into the cocoon of contemplation. It's a moment to hit the pause button, release a contemplative exhale, and immerse myself in a review of the past year. My surroundings undergo a magical transformation where the intricate lace of bare branches embellishes the muted backdrop. The air takes on a crisp quality, carrying a profound sense of clarity and calmness. In the snow-covered forest surrounding my home, a hushed and muffled symphony of nature emerges, creating a tranquil ambiance. Winter beckons me to embrace solitude, encouraging me to discover the beauty inherent in the stillness that blankets everything. acrylic, paper, & ink on panel 16 x 32 x 2" My artwork merges the precision of geometric shapes and structures with the organic forms of botanical elements. My abstract and colorful compositions represent the harmony that can be achieved when nature and science are combined. My art reflects my belief that beauty can be found in the balance between chaos and order and the ability of art to bring them together. Using my engineering background and artistic sensibility, I strive to create joyful, dynamic, and captivating artwork that reflects the complexity of nature coexisting in our manufactured world.

acrylic, paper, and ink 19 x 25 x 1" On a trip to Costa Rica, I did some nature hikes with a local guide in the old-growth forests. He was terrific at spotting animals up in the trees. We would view them through a high-power spotting scope (similar to binoculars but with only one lens). I loved viewing the world through the microcosm of a small circle. It made me focus on a tiny aspect of the greater jungle around us, ignoring everything around me. As an artist, I also like to create that focused direction in my artwork. I lead the viewer to what I want them to see through color, shape, value, and line.

oil on linen 24 x 30 x 1.5" My paintings refer to the mystery, power and spirituality of the landscape. They speak of hope and optimism, while they also recognize humankind's insignificance in relation to the universe. The work is not about realistic forms but rather my response to what I see —the colors, shapes and atmosphere. My intention is to reflect nature's timeless cycle, the ephemeral sense of life, and the question of what else might be.

mixed media oil painting 42 x 28 x 2" My work in general hints at what is behind the eyes, the flesh and what we recognize as being human. I'm A Goddess On Night Patrol Watercolor on Paper Size: 11 x 15 My inspiration comes mainly from my own experience, observations and understanding of human beings' existence in this world-- the struggle we go through to survive (get by), thrive and become happy and content. I like to study history and philosophy to learn about human nature. My artwork tends to capture various human feelings and emotions, and our persistent yearning for freedom, justice and truth. Occasionally, I create artworks that seems to show off-on-a-tangent imagination or whimsical humor, but they are also my reflections on our being in this world. I often use strong colors and mixed media, but for small works, I enjoy working with a single medium for each piece. For larger artworks, I frequently feature reflective materials in the mixed media, especially color foil. Color foil tape/paper generates brilliant flowing changing colors as a person moves in the space to view the artworks from different angles, informing the viewer that “change is norm”- we should learn when and how to let go of bad feelings. It also reminds the audience that truth can be multi-faceted: all we can see is just a part of it, so we should fare in this world with humility and tolerance. oil on panel 26 x 20 x 2" The spark of inspiration for this body of work came from a stay in New York City, specifically in the Chelsea neighborhood. In the painting Chelsea’s Story, the vibrating, sunlit colors on the church spires were absolutely irresistible and something I had to paint in contrast to the rest of the building in shadow. I find this an exciting approach in my work, paying respect to artists I admire who have come before such as Edward Hopper, Charles Sheeler and countless masters. oil 38 x 40 x 1.75" This painting is the beginning of a new series limiting the color palette. It tells the story of living in a place I love. My inspiration is the beauty of the city that keeps moving amongst its iconic structures and deep shadows. Daylight is used to outline both the buildings and people. I have always been a fan of antique silhouettes. They illustrate a history of fashion and stature in the most simple form. Fast forward to my version of silhouettes 2023.

acrylic on canvas 48 x 65" When people get married, they are in love and feel like on the cloud. But marriage life takes a lot more than feeling good. It also takes resistance, keeping the promise, forgiveness, etc. My painting is composed to show the contrast between the love high and the reality of married life. "The Kiss of Rodin" is painted on the cloud as a symbol of a trance moment of love while holding hands over letters of troubles of married life showing the physical and emotional tie of a married couple.

Digital Photography 24 x 35 x 1"I've been drawn to this space since the opening of new addition to Swartz Hall at Harvard University. It's an entryway connecting the existing Swartz Hall structure (built in 1911) and contemporary addition (built in 2021), which creates incredible flow of natural light. As I came to photograph this space for NAWA submission "Depth Perception", I encountered a permanent display of an ahkukq/cooking vessel, created by Artist and Mashpee Wampanoag member Nosapacket (Ramona Peters). Indigenous presence in clay provided an additional dimension of depth, so I reversed the image and it became "By the Well".

leather, silk, brass 14 x 8 x 22" Inspiration/intent: painting by Andes Zorn "Isabella Stewart Gardner in Venice", 1894. In the spirit of creative risk-taking, Isabella Gardner continues her mission by inspiring my sustainability project "Enigma of Footgear". I create 3-D works with outdated designer footwear, which can be perfect media for installations and sculptures with strong public statement or enigmatic silence. Enigma of Footgear is what grounds us, what connects us to the earth, and what carries us around. Isabella moves with grace and spontaneity: picks up her shoe, drapes with white silk and crowns with jewelry. She lets her swan out in the Fenway of Boston to swim in the Muddy River.
