Photograph on metal 12 x 12 in. I am fascinated by hummingbirds. They are so beautiful and are an amazing site to behold. To watch them take long drinks while dispensing the energy it takes to hover over their nourishment.is a wonder in itself. I had set up my camera, tripod and plenty of nectar, and photographed trying to capture their little bodies without blurring their beauty. With the red feeder and contrast of the bird, I knew I wanted the print to be on glossy metal. Hopefully, the viewer can feel the energy of this tiny creature. oil on canvas 17.25 x 17.25 x 2" I have always enjoyed studying the many subtleties to be found in nature. Color variations, details in objects, as well as the juxtaposition of objects all interest me greatly. In addition, I find symbolism in art and the various moods created by lighting to be very intriguing. But most of all, it is the challenge of combining these and other elements in the painting process that attracts me to create. Bringing awareness to endangered and threatened species is very important to me. I’m continually striving to bring elements together that invoke a sense of thoughtfulness towards nature and how we affect it. oil on canvas 28 x 22 x 1" This painting is part of a my "Endangered Yet Unbowed" series of painting pertaining to endangered and threatened species. Florida Panthers are dying at an alarming rate. Currently, there are only about 200 known to exist in the wild. I feel we all have a responsibility to protect and bring awareness to all endangered and threatened species so that generations to come can enjoy their beauty.

oil on linen 20 x 20" I take joy in going on plein aire expeditions in the beautiful Catskill countryside near my home in upstate New York. I love the beautiful landscape, the barns old and new, the animals and plants in the region. The particular barn in this painting was built by the owner himself - a former New York City discotheque owner! I was drawn to the colors and patterns in the scene and enjoyed talking to the owners. Plein aire painDDting is always an adventure and full of surprises.

monotype 21.5 x 17.5" My piece "Wandering Triangle" is one of a series of monotypes where I have experimented with movement and abstraction. Monotypes are often called "the painters's print" because they are a free, easy and fluid technique. People have often commented on how much directional motion they observe in both my prints and paintings. This may emerge from the fact that I am a dancer in addition to being a visual artist. In this case, the triangle subject seems to take a multi-dimensional journey as we all do in life.

paper, wire mesh, aluminum wire 14 x 12 x 2" Within explores the push and pull into and out of restriction vs freedom. Using wire mesh, aluminum wire, and paper, I created a series of 'almost-but-not-quite-real' gateways and spaces that could be interpreted as constrained enclosures or places of safety and shelter. My choice of the wire mesh presents a dominant texture and pattern, begging the question: is it harsh or soothing? While I try to answer this, I also invite the viewer to wander into the space and solve the mystery for themselves.

archival paper, photographs, & adhesive 8 x 9.75 x 1.5" Nature-Tecture #3 joins together architectural forms with plant life – thus the play on words in the title. As the third in this Nature-Tecture series, which searches for harmony between that which is manmade and the natural world, this piece pushes further on than its predecessors (#1 and #2), Here, I felt compelled to place the plants bursting out from behind these manmade forms. For me, they send a message: that they are present, vital, growing. This begs the question: What are we doing to protect plants, animals, oceans – and ourselves? And, what is preventing us from taking the action necessary to secure the health of our planet? Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between artist and buyer after the purchase.

drypoint with monotype & hand additions 17 x 15" I live in Maine. Every year we wait for the spring peepers to signal that winter is finally over. I use the process of monotype with drypoint and toxic free inks to freely express gestural aspects of nature that surround me. I used various textured offsets to get a nuanced blue surface in this piece which had several iterations. Knowing when to stop is always the question.

encaustic 8 x 6" In my current work I am exploring cellular shifts and the many changes that affect our thinking, food, environment and daily life. We are swept away by images flooding our phones and on screens everywhere. I try and step back and reflect on the driving forces beneath view or below our conscious musings. I work in layers whether in monotype, collage or encaustic to represent these layers of meaning. Scraping away wax, adding layers in the press and obscuring text with collage seems to suit my eclectic brain. I want my viewers to stop and look and be surprised at these small works. I use symbols, text and images to tell a larger story. I want to draw in views so that the more they look the more they will see. monotype 23 x 17.5 x 1" I am using layers of printing from stencils that are not from recyclable materials to tell the story of our fragile predicament here on earth. I am using non toxic inks and Arches paper to produce images alluding to the natural world colliding with development and commercialism.
