Global Series is meant as a gentle reminder that humanity is not separate from nature but a part of it. In Bear Hugs, polar bears are portrayed in a circular format to represent life on Earth and a loving embrace. The red dot represents the Sun, warmth and the need to stop and consider the effect humanity has on the natural world. This pair of serigraphs,, or commonly know as silkscreen, prints, are hand printed on Coventry Rag 290 gram paper using archival serigraphic inks in limited editions of 24 with 2 artist proofs and 3 printers proofs signed by the artist. All artwork was created and is copyrighted by Kathleen Zimmerman, who reserves all rights to their usage.

In the realm where Veil reigns supreme, Curiosity dances like a shimmering dream. Beyond its folds, mysteries softly gleam, Inviting hearts to explore and redeem. Veil invites viewers into a realm where curiosity reigns supreme and fear of the unknown dissipates. Against a backdrop of deep blues and shimmering stars, a young girl boldly parts a veil, revealing a mysterious and enchanting sky beyond. The surrealistic elements, accentuated by subtle hints of purple undertones, evoke a sense of wonder and intrigue. Through this painting, I seek to celebrate the beauty of exploration and the courage it takes to embrace the mysteries that lie beyond the confines of our eve.

My work focuses on exploring the concept of one's soul journey and the mythic idea of one’s daimon, or spiritual companion, as described by Plato. Guided by my daemon, I undertook a month-long residency in Ireland. While exploring the countryside, I stumbled upon "The Greenville Rookery" and was captivated by the sight of hundreds of rooks building nests. Their energy and spirit became intertwined with my artmaking, leaving a lasting impression on my subconscious.

Night Music is my response to the sounds of nature I experience late at night from the deck of my cabin in the Vermont woods. The human sounds quiet down. My moment of solitude changes to reverie. I am transported by a symphony of natural sounds that fill the air--the rhythmic chorus of the frogs and crickets, the roar of rushing of water in the nearby river, and the percussive sound of wind rustling through the trees all rise up as i gaze at the stars in the dark sky above. The music is soon punctuated by the haunting calls of a pair of great horned owls. I painted Night Music to remember this magical experience.

Iridescent colors evoke the dazzling spectrum of humanity, with varied hues that meet and merge, illustrating the beautiful complexity of a diverse community. Inspired by the unity and strength that emerges when individuals from disparate backgrounds come together, this artwork celebrates the vibrant tapestry of human connections and the collective power that can be woven from our differences.

This painting is inspired from a visit to the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. It is the latest in my series, Faraway Places. The colors and imagery represent the feelings and colors as I walked through the market. With the vibrant colors I sought to capture the vitality and bustling atmosphere as one goes through the market stalls.

Lavender Tango is a vibrant abstract expression of cherished memories. The calming lavender hue evokes the beauty of my husband's favorite flower, while dynamic black lines symbolize the passionate energy of tango, a dance my father loved. This artwork is a harmonious blend of nature and movement, a visual tribute to those I hold dear.

Primarily rooted in abstract expressionism, my paintings reflect an evolving universe where communication is less concrete. My visual language evolved with my own memories and experiences making up the stories I needed to tell through my art. This process-oriented work explores themes of the human condition, identity, and self-reflection. It takes me back to bright spots in my memory when I felt close to starting a new chapter and the decision felt right - it felt like the punctuating marks of time of a sunrise and a sunset. The promise of a new day and the magic light that happens at both hours.

When I am upset by something I always head to my studio to bring my world to a peaceful place. Song to Ukraine was my response to the invasion of Ukraine. The sense of helplessness in world events often overwhelms me, and although I know my painting will not bring peace to Ukraine perhaps it can bring some personal peace to someone who views it. This painting was included in an exhibit in Tulsa, OK dedicated to the Ukrainian refugees who have arrived to live in our city.

In a day of expectations and heightened awareness, my perceptions focus on an unexpected moment of reverie. In depicting individuals at different ages and life stages, I engage themes of temporal change, individual vulnerability and human mortality. As I preserve a time and moment in the subject’s evolution, I acknowledge the inevitable unstoppable sea of change we ride in life. This child gaze was riveting, both vulnerable and fierce; the drawing is another in a portrait series that honors the purest of encounters with the special little humans in my life. The difficult and satisfying challenge in my portraiture is to portray some unarmed truth and in so doing to suggest our complex humanity and shared experience.

On a trip to France in 2005, I was inspired by the idyllic landscape and skies to begin my Trees Leaving series. I was thinking about the threat we have become to our natural environment and remembering Magritte’s floating men in bowler hats. After the pandemic hit, I continued the series with another twist. Rather than one or lots of trees leaving, chunks of isolated areas lifted into the sky. Autumn Passing is one of these pieces. I have found it deeply gratifying to keep this series evolving with ever expanding meaning.

This painting, Star Mass, was inspired by the poem, The Sleeping Prophet (Astronomy of Love) written by Josepha Gutelius. The materiality of this poem really spoke to me, especially the lines, "Every one of us in the plush arms of giants, crammed full of dreams and milk and star mass." (copyright Josepha Gutelius) Those lines evoke thoughts of life, death and rebirth - the fiery moment when a star flares out or when a soul's new journey begins.

This owl is part of a series of Sentinel Figures. I mean them to be protective and fierce. I started them during the pandemic when I just wanted to protect my family and friends. They are all made with a combination of forms thrown on a potters wheel and forms that are modeled. I read about and studied images of owls for inspiration. Owls are awesome.

The "Woven View" sculptural dress, meticulously crafted and stitched from a canvas painting, echoes the resilience and narratives of Palestinian culture. Inspired by the traditional embroidered Palestinian Thobe, it links Palestinians to their homeland and reflects cultural self-expression and identity. By cutting and stitching canvas, the dress creates a borderless composition, symbolizing the ongoing struggle and resilience of a society forced into scattered exile. It represents the unwavering determination to reclaim autonomy and pursue a brighter future, embodying the spirit of defying injustices to preserve identity and hope.

The ocean delivers gifts of beauty in special ways. This piece is intended to invoke thoughts of unexpected tenderness via the tumbling, rustling, and tossing of the currents. After being carefully sheltered by a jagged, stone-like exterior, the gentle, shiny abalone interior holds a surprising hue. The tender pearl contained within a myriad of colorful hues displays proof that beauty can be carefully created and then surrendered from within the center of the toughest elements. Abalone Heart reminds us that we are strong and resilient. We will render the product of our worth despite the storms we experience.

Primeval Caprice is a conceptual abstract interpreting the both the repetitive, predictable patterning and surprising randomness of our biological world. As there will always be more to learn about the unseen that makes up everything, this work seeks to engage in a playful conversation with surprises that will reveal themselves in time. Recognizing that we are all "made up of the same stuff," my hope is that the visual connection viewers may make with the piece will plant the seeds for this awareness in other aspects of our lives, especially those that seek to sow division.

Seeing Land After a Long Journey is inspired by my many crossings of oceans where no land is seen for many days. There is a special feeling of excitement when experiencing the first signs of land such as twigs, birds and the distant change in the horizon. With each crossing, I was reminded about explorers like Columbus and his crew who voyaged into the unknow and had sense of excitement and relief too when they saw the first signs of land.

With all the tension in the world with aggression and war, I wanted to create an image that represented the end of the conflict. There is a feeling of exhaustion of the soldier's limp arm. There is no weapon in his open hand. The soldier has given everything for a cause, but his desire to continue has come to an end. Let the symbolism of the toga, wing of victory and laurel wreath inspire dialog and compromise to bring peace.

Fire and Ice is a plea for us to recognize our profound interconnection with all life on earth, the impact of humanity's disconnection from the natural world and from each other. It offers solace and a recognition of the inherent beauty of our natural world even as It highlights the need to address this existential challenge. My intention is for Fire and Ice to be part of the great web of healing. I invite you to engage with the painting, lose yourself in its details, meditate on its meanings, and to carry those messages into your daily lives.

The exquisite landform at Sunset Cliffs in La Jolla, California, belies the unwitting sacrifices made by indigenous populations who stood in the way of conquest and "progress." With the artwork Path to Enlightenment I explore the hidden wealth of information that marginalized communities contain. This painting references life in the deep sea. The deep sea exists below 200 meters and is vastly under explored. Organisms in the deep sea help to remove more than one third of the carbon dioxide produced by human activity on earth. Thus, these denizens of the deep may be instrumental in slowing down catastrophic climate change. In considering this painting as a metaphor for gleaning knowledge from underrepresented factions, which other living communities may contain knowledge vital to our survival on earth?

An old jewelry box was up-cycled - the four surfaces cleaned and 4 refracted watercolors added to correspond with each of the four lines of a poem written for the box. Sky knows the snow will cloak the resting branches Sky knows the tilting of the earth will warm the trees and bring them to life Sky knows the heat of the summer will bring the fruit ready for harvest Sky knows the falling of leaves returns the strength of the tree to the earth for the next year. Most of the other surfaces are just left as they were, to remind the user of the box's previous life. Acrylic glazing makes the box a useable item.

Borrowing the lake house of a friend, and taking time away from the usual, a group of my friends gathered on Keuka Lake in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, for fun and adventure. This image of the house reflected in the lake, is the view from a kayak. The friends (not shown but having stayed together in the house) are those from high school, and the reflections may represent how time breaks up the memories, as well as how moving water, like time, breaks up the reflections. The more friends, the more broken memories may be stitched back together, especially when some go back to elementary school!

This painting was inspired by the flowers on the tropical brugmansia plant I have been overwintering for years and abstractly by images of the galaxy in which we are a part. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant community of life in my garden, my flowers invite universal questions of existence and purpose in their quest for survival, eventual senescence, and rebirth. The merging of the visions of space with the identifiable floral images by using transparent glazing between the micro and macro visions symbolizes the interconnectedness and fragility of all life, underscoring the need for open discourse to ensure universal survival.

  • Batik on silk mounted on canvas 40 x 30"
During my travels through Morocco, particularly in the enchanting city of Safi, I became captivated by the intricate beauty and cultural significance of their doors.  In Safi, doors are adorned with intricate tile work, reflecting the city's rich history as a center of pottery and ceramics. I never knew what I would discover as I rounded the corner in the Medina- the ancient walled part of the city. Through my photographs and batik paintings, I aim to capture the essence of these Moroccan doors—celebrating their visual splendor and the stories they silently hold, inviting viewers to journey with me into the heart of North African culture.

  • Monotype 36 x 24.74 x .75 in.   The forest, for me, is more than just a place. It's a sanctuary, a source of inspiration, and a canvas for my art. It's where I slow down and appreciate the gifts of nature, experience serenity, and seek healing. This deep connection to nature is the driving force behind my work. It reflects life's journeys as an artist, a mother, and my role as a human in the natural world. My art vibrates with this, communicating with mark=making rooted in impressionism and abstractionism, forming a symbiotic relationship with the past and present with the joy of raising children and sadness of leaving the nest. The works are a dance of light and hope that I found in change and share with the viewer.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Ink, pastel, and color pencil on paper 40 x 22.5 in.   Ever since antiquity, astronomers have studied the 13 phases of Venus, from her rise as the morning star, to her descent into invisibility, and her re-emergence in the evening sky. These phases occur over a 19-month cycle, marking both a physical and a spiritual passage. I expressed each phase in a different work. The journey begins with Inception, passing through Gestation, Birth, Emergence towards Fullness and Self-Discovery. Then Immersion and Transmutation are followed by Rebirth, Remembering, Wholeness, Completion. My inspiration was a found ledger of observations of the 1874 Transit of Venus, a phenomenon occurring every 243 years when the planet moves across the face of the sun.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • Acrylic on canvas 20 x 20 in.   When I was a young girl, my dad taught me to swim. He'd let me hold onto him as he swam deep underwater....and I loved that feeling of gliding through the water, holding onto him. I never could last as long as he could underwater, and I'd have to let go and swim madly up for air. Those are some of my favorite memories with him...swimming. When he died, I dreamed we were swimming together again, only this time I was the one swimming deep underwater and he was the one swimming madly to the surface...and this time he went far further than the surface.; he went straight on into the sky. I woke up missing him, but happy we could swim together again...even if it is in my dreams.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • Mixed media, drawing on paper 24 x 18 x 1 in.   Lena is my oldest grandchild and only granddaughter. Although she lives on the West coast, we have always shared a special bond. This summer, while she, her father and brother were visiting us in Virginia, she got her first period. Later, as we sat together, I began to sketch. At one point, she created a peep hole to look through as we talked. That gesture portrayed for me the ambivalence of the moment. It felt as though she was looking out at the future, as she contemplated the consequences of her body changing to her adult self. Her pose captured he tension between childhood and adulthood, highlighting the uncertainty and conflicting emotions that come with this transition   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

She is only 8 years old here, but she is tall, making her look older. She is unaware of her natural youthful beauty. I love the lopsided bow on the back of her shirt. Seeing the work in progress, Jamie asked me to put an owl in the painting. I painted a barn owl in flight. The owl, like her wisdom, is coming towards her, but in her innocence, she looks the other way. Pensive (Jesse)This lovely young woman sits at the sweet threshold of adulthood. So this is not really a “Blue Period” a la Picasso, but a sustained interest in returning to blue over the years, from time to time. “Blue Girl” can be said to sustain one reading of the idea of blue, as in waking up with the blues, and going to bed that way too. “Blues Bird” refers to the idea of blue in its “blues music” musical context, which can include joy and vitality. “Blues Bird” also expresses my interest in texture and mixed media in my paintings, although I also think “Blue Girl” is also a painting that includes a sense of texture. The gentle movement of petals and the harmonious arrangement invite viewers to reflect on their own experiences of love and the light it brings to our lives. The beginning of the bird fashionistas - little characters that emulate the personalities of the people around me: They are fun to make and are a constant reminder of what is important in my life. When someone asks me “What happened to you during the pandemic?” I think “Well, a lot,” but the constant reminder of life came from looking through the living room window, watching a cascade of different types of birds vying for their spot at the bird feeder. Over and over and over! So many hours spent on the sofa just watching them and being thankful for being alive. While sitting on that sofa I did draw a LOT in my journal book. I wrote about the places I’ve been to, the people I’ve been with, meanings of the icons and images I was incorporating in my work. When we all began to venture out of our houses, I was more mindful of the journaling process and drawing the “memories” of place. The images in the journal book are the genesis of this work. "Fixing the Last Booboo" is part of my Mending the Earth Collage series addressing loss of species, environmental concerns. etc. All works include vintage miniature ephemera, watercolor, acrylic paint, ink, graphite, digital images, vintage bandaid, thread and whatever else is needed...enjoy! • Oil Curtsey and Carry On Size: 50 x 26 x 3 My submissions represent the most current work I have completed. The figurative series was intended to encompass all things about creation. The cubist quality happened rather organically while I was troubleshooting creative ways to represent parts of a figure, and the pieces that make up a whole being. These are only two examples, while some of the works not pictured are more irregular and varied shapes, rather than the hard-edged linear shapes seen here. The pallet varies as well but overall the works are a neutral with vibrant undertones. The contour lines will appear and subtly disappear. I enjoyed the thinking process behind the pieces as much as the actual creation of them. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • Dance of the Lily Pads Color Pencil on Drafting Film Size of Piece: 23 x 30 Realism is the style that I have embraced for my work. Perhaps the truth is that it embraced me, flowing naturally from my hand, with inspiration coming from the world around me. Colored pencil is the medium I have chosen for most of my work. What started as a lifestyle choice (pencils are clean and easily transportable from primary residence to lake house) became an artistic choice. I’m a control freak - free and loose is NOT my style - so colored pencils are the perfect medium for me. Their layering and blending capabilities, the transparency of some colors, and vibrant pigments help me convey the interplay of color and light in my subject matter. At times, I use colors that are more brilliant or saturated than what I see in nature. It pleases me, and I hope it pleases the viewer. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Outside Inside Acrylic on Canvas Board Size of Piece: 24 x 30 I feel that every human being is like a portal. We first encounter the external frame, but an entire universe unfolds as we step through the doors. Our inner world shapes our outer reality, just as the outer world, in turn, influences our inner state. A lingering sense of loneliness etches itself into our expressions, while a habit of noticing beauty and goodness softens our features, bringing light to our presence. Perhaps the most powerful anti-aging secret is a genuine smile—one born from childlike trust in life, the belief that everything is unfolding as it should, and the certainty that our adventures are limitless. There is an ever-present, knowing part of us—an angelic essence—watching over, guiding, and smiling at our journey through our many mystical paths. This painting emerged as an unfolding, evolving process that presented infinite possibilities until I realized it was not about choosing a single direction. Instead, I was capturing a state of being, a process of disc. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • Two Critical Questions Acrylic Size of Piece: 42 x 51 x 1.5 Hayoon Jay Lee is an interdisciplinary artist who explores the tension between indulgence and abnegation as it exists in terms of mind and body as well as on a socio-political level. Her work locates points of contact between Korean material tradition and Western avant-garde vocabulary by using rice shape and rice as an object, motif, commodity, and metaphor. As a building block of civilizations and a marker of wealth differences, rice allows Lee to conceptually play with points of conflict conceptually — oscillating between attraction and repulsion, between Orient and Occident— with the aim of ultimately encouraging reflection on the different ways our conditions and fates are interlinked. Renowned for integrating rice-inspired motifs and organic, visceral shapes in her paintings, sculptures, installations, performances, and videos, Lee’s work features figures embedded within rice forms. This highlights the deep connection between food and life. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Social Hour Acrylic on Canvas Size of Piece: 30 x 40 x 1.5 Dinner with my nonagenarian friends inspired this piece and is why I called it "Social Hour" I decided to render them through colors and shapes so the focus would be on the connection between them and on the mood of the moment rather than on their features. What I see, hear, feel and experience makes its way into my art. Growing up in multiple cultures influences my work, and my love of fairy tales, fiction, fantasy, and sci-fi seeps through as well. I paint mostly in acrylics and gouache and love to experiment with a variety of techniques and materials. At times my work is autobiographical as I aim to tell a story, convey a feeling, or share memories. In Social Hour my focus was on friendship and aging. Through the use of vibrant colors, a sense of movement, and unexpected imagery, I hope the viewer is drawn into my work in a way that provides space for their own interpretation. • But He Died Collage and acrylic on panel Size of Piece: 24 x 24 x 1.5 Inspired by the beautiful rolling foothills in Umbria, Italy, this piece captures the energy and heat of summer in this area. My work comes in bursts of spontaneity—bold, colorful, and full of energy—yet created in a state of complete calm. I'm delighted when the unexpected emerges. Those surprises excite me and guide the pieces to their final forms. I’m inspired by both the wild freedom of the abstract expressionists and the sharp clarity of the precisionists, always searching for a balance between the two. Every piece is an adventure, a conversation between instinct and intention, a process that is intuitive, driven by curiosity, and open to the unexpected. • Hava Mixed Media on Paper Size of Piece: 24 x 18 x .05 As women, we are not simple. We are complex, exquisite beings that hold more potential than ever recognized. For thousands of years, across regions, for the sake of safety, we hid our true nature to accommodate those with made-up power. Now, we are leaping out of our assigned frames and are claiming our own narrative. Equality is a basic human right, a fundamental pillar in establishing a peaceful and prosperous world. While progress happens, there is still a great deal left to do. Girls and women continue to face significant challenges all around the world. Historically, though, women are described as goddesses, spirits, mythical beings from fairytales and scriptures - we are holy and dangerous. We are everything man desires and everything he fears, his source of life and his terror at the thought of death, of loss. All these contradictions stir many questions and emotions, but we learn to find the balance in life. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Outlook Santorini Acrylic on Canvas Size of Piece: 30 x 40 x 1.5 Painting is a meditative journey for me, a way to process loss and transform grief into something vibrant and full of hope. After my brother passed away, I felt an urgent need to create—not just for the sake of making art, but as a way to heal. Through bold colors and expressive brushstrokes, I seek to uplift both myself and those who experience my work, showing that even in darkness, beauty and joy can emerge. In paintings like Outlook Santorini, New Day, and Flower Fields, I abstract natural landscapes to capture their essence and emotion. Outlook Santorini reflects the island’s peaceful vistas, translating its tranquility into layers of color and movement. New Day speaks to renewal and optimism, its light-filled hues evoking the fresh start that comes with dawn. Flower Fields is a celebration of nature’s energy, bursting with expressive colors that mirror the vitality of a landscape in bloom. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Secrets Among Blossoms Acrylics and Watercolor on Aqua-board Size of Piece: 36 x 24 x 1.5 Secrets among Blossoms- Life is a canvas splashed with unexpected twists. Those who master the art of embracing uncertainty and forging ahead are the ones who truly survive. Each heart is a wondrous chest, overflowing with secrets. The outward beauty may enchant the eye, yet beneath the surface lie veiled wounds and hidden mysteries. Frozen Blooms- is about the quiet toll of life’s hardships. The woman holds a bouquet of flowers—symbols of beauty and hope—but she doesn’t seem to feel their warmth. Her gaze is distant, her expression unreadable, as if the struggles she’s faced have left her numb. The deep purple tones wrap around her like a lingering sadness, while the bright yellow background reminds us that life’s warmth still exists, even when it feels out of reach. This painting speaks to those moments when we carry beauty in our hands but feel unable to embrace it, when the weight of our past makes it hard to see the light ahead. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • Shahnameh Oil on Canvas Size of Piece: 36 x 48 The painting is inspired by childhood memories. Somehow, translations of Persian texts of Ferdowsi's poems Shahnameh penetrated into Siberia behind the Iron Curtain. The phenomenon of a foreign culture that came to the snows of Siberia to surprise and enchant with its exotic fantasy is reflected here in the form of an image of a Persian prince appearing either in a dream or in reality to a Siberian lady. • Crayola Photography, Digital Size of Piece: 18 x 12 x .000032

Years of experience in the profession of architecture and interior design inspire me to photograph buildings. I have a particular passion for weathered structurers; with colorful ones adding extra charm. The Caribbean is one of my favorite places to fulfill my vision. ‘Crayola’ and ‘George Street’ can be found in Nassau where there is a plethora of colonial English architecture infused with a vibrant tropical color palette. I pack my Nikon and wander the streets searching for potential subjects with sharp lines, high contrast and aim for compositions of colorful saturated blocks of adjacent solid planes.

  • Night of the Soul Collagraph Print Size of Piece: 5 x 7

This piece captures the chaos of the night. A collagraph, like many printing techniques, reveals itself to you as it comes off the press, much like the night magically turns into day. The interplay of lights and darks describe my nights of short bursts of sleep contrasted with wakefulness. There's a dreamy yet also unsettling aspect to the piece.

It was created with a substrate of cardboard, inks that were applied and wiped away, printed in pieces. The line work adds to its mystery.

  • Contemplation Oil on Canvas Size of Piece: 20 x 16

I was inspired by the contrast of the model against the light background, and the shadows that were created by the light source. My creative process was to establish the lights and darks. These are the vehicles to determine the correct values, I aimed to capture the confident, contemplative expression of the model.

  • Girl with Curlers Pencil and Pastel, Pencil on Paper Size of Piece: 10 x 8

“Girl with Curlers” is a portrait of my younger sister.  I was inspired when I saw her wearing her curlers in front of a window, the light from which bathed her hair and face in a soft glow.  I used an HB pencil, along with white, brown, and red pastel pencils on cream-colored paper to create a soft, minimalistic color scheme and used value to capture the interplay between the softness of her face and pajamas and the darker geometric mass of her hair in large curlers.

  • Angst and Toys Oil on Canvas Size of Piece: 24 x 20

The  values and colors in painting Angst and Toys are used to create a certain  mood, atmosphere.  Intense variations of  Blue are supposed to provoke mysterious and dramatic feeling. The light coming from a light house and an invisible source of light from the right  create red reflections on mothers;s and child's  faces, warm coats and gloves.. The combination of colors and their values in this painting speak of an emotional memory where reality and imagination are tightly interwoven.

  • Acrylics on Mylar Size of Piece: 20 x 16 x 1.25 As artists, we spend many hours in our studios. We are familiar with the concept of isolation. But at the same time, we also fuel our creativity in our outings away from the studio and by experiencing life and our surroundings to the fullest. This artwork was created in the middle of the pandemic...My heart was pounding hard, ready to explode with the necessity to express. I was ready to tell the world that I was alive and full of energy, love, plans and so much to do and say... I was bursting with creativity! And that is how this series called “Catharsis” started…

  • Reading by the Seashore Acrylic/Canvas Size of Piece: 16 x 20

Girl by the Seashore was painted from imagination,  another way I work.  Sometimes, I paint from imagination directly, with maybe only a thought to where the work will go, but more often, and here, the composition is derived from a pencil drawing, originally from imagination I which made quite a few years ago and still love.  I draw a lot.  Here, I worked to get the light the way I wanted it.

  • Balloon Girl Among the Clouds Digital Collage on Paper Size of Piece: 8 x 8

My creative process is very intuitive. An image presents itself to me with a certain resonance and calls upon other images or fragments of images to join it to form something quite different. It's alchemical--a visual amalgam--images attracting other fragments gestating into a new--perhaps unexpected--whole. It is like bird watching or even like catching butterflies in a net.

  • Relax Shack Digital Archival Photograph Sublimated to Aluminum Size of Piece: 16 x 20

I am passionate about photography as an art form. In a world overfull with images, ideas, and messages streaming at us at warp speed, there is profound value in the thoughtfulness, the provocation, the silent aesthetic, the power of a single image made with the vision and ever evolving techniques of fine art photography.

  • Beach No.5 Silkscreen on Paper Size of Piece: 15 x 22

My work investigates resemblance of particular surroundings in connection with site specific placement. What interests me is the interconnection with the landscape and the viewer themselves, impression of their own identity, and peculiar memories in the specific surrounding.

In this particular print series, I worked with the beach scapes of the unforgettable Cape Cod area, often working on location while preparing first drawings and color sketches. By combining layered imagery, working with a dramatic contrast and values, along with the innovative methods of digital print and halftone, I was able to investigate the ability to recall certain memories, good and bad that often stopped a viewer in their tracks, and let them escape to the unknown while at the ocean side.

  • Rebirth Transfer Film Print of Digital Collage on Paper Size of Piece: 8 x 12 x 1

I am inspired by the ability of flowers to bring joy even in the darkest of times. In this piece, the contrast in value between the dark background and the light flowers reflects the flowers’ emotional push against darkness which is further emphasized by the subtle gradations in value surrounding the flowers. The value contrasts in the image are further enhanced by the strong color contrasts.

I began the image by drawing flowers in a garden and adding color with pencil and paint. I modified the value, color, forms and composition of the result to create a digital collage in Photoshop. The final image is a digital transfer of the collage to arches 88 paper using transfer film and transfer solution.

    Acrylic
Size of Piece: 20 x 16 x 1.25 The joy on my son's face as he posed in his "habitat" along the Pacific Coast near where he works in La Jolla, CA, inspired me to do a rare return to figurative work. I surprised him with this painting as a loving house-warming gift last Fall after he moved into his new apartment in Little Italy. • Free Floating
    digital photo
Size of Piece: 22 x 18 x 1 I often look for reflections in store windows. Usually I shoot directly into the window and see what is reflected behind me. However, in this case, I went inside the store and shot directly at an interesting display. The central image reminded me of a giant acorn lit from within, but the bottom of the skirts reminded me of a hot air balloon ride recently taken. • Harbinger
    photograph
Size of Piece: 8 x 8 x 1 In Tales of a Consulting Detective, Sherlock Holmes said: “You see, but you do not observe. The distinction is clear.” I take my camera out. I may choose a subject; I may think “that would make a great picture”; I may visit a new place or one I’ve seen before. I want to observe and to present things in a way that causes the viewer to stop and observe. What do you think this bird represents? We have the technology to immediately capture whatever is in front of us. The challenge is for people to slow down; to question whether there is only one way to look at something; and to search for new meaning in something they may have seen before. • Watching Spring
    acrylic and oil on canvas
Size of Piece: 48 x 48 x 1.5 My recent paintings contain root-like veins, dendritic patterns - sacred design, a blueprint common to all things that grow and reach, found in the body as arching blood vessels, in leaves, trees, and forests. This shape is a rhythm; we recognize it from our memory. Rooted in nature's universal language, my paintings pulse with vibrant energy through dynamic brushwork and layered textures, capturing the fluidity of water, foliage, and fleeting landscape elements. Through expressive spontaneity and thoughtful composition, my work celebrates life's wild rhythm, transforming symbolic forms into metaphors of our shared human experience. I permit to use of my artwork on SM. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Stonefaced
    oil on board
Size of Piece: 16 x 12 x .5 This painting describes the extraordinary, reflective phase of my life and work. What began as a watercolor study of a limestone cliff developed into a painting that reveals an awareness of, and gratitude for, those who came before me. They were immersed in Welsh culture, so influenced by dark landscapes and skies. I have always seen faces in clouds and rocks but this time they spoke as my artistic ancestors, stubborn, wise, musical, poetic. But that was my past. My present is American, and my future is unknown, but this is an homage to endurance. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Mandala for a New World
    colored pencil on paper
Size of Piece: 13 x 13 Inspired by Mandalas. First encountered in China in 1995 while a delegate at the 4th World Conference for Women. My fascination with them brought introspection and a need to create a new world mandala to explore our current political situation. The process is meditative, allowing me to play creatively with humor and pathos. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Empowered Elderhood
    mixed media fiber
Size of Piece: 34 x 32 This self-portrait honors the threshold between visibility and inner knowing. Wearing a towering crone headdress made from a vintage quilt and stitched wallpaper, I embody the elder archetype, rooted in lineage, softened by time, and adorned with wisdom. Two birds represent dual aspects of the self: one that carries memory, and one that flies forward. Flowers bloom, stitched in quiet rebellion against erasure. Each textile layer is a fragment of inherited story; worn, patched, cherished, and transformed into sacred regalia through collage and thread. Each element, stitch, scrap, and thread, honors the beauty and burden of experience. It's a claiming of space. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Roses in the Studio
    egg-tempera on prepared board
Size of Piece: 12 x 12 x 0.25 Roses in the Studio is a visual tribute to prosperity and creative freshness. This small, but fragrant bouquet juxtaposed against the backdrop of my non-objective painting "Summer Vibes” symbolizes the unity of realistic and abstract expression. The ancient and laborious choice of media, the egg-tempera, is my new fascination both in technical challenges and stylistic nuances. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • State of Being
    acrylic on panel
Size of Piece: 20 x 20 My focus while creating 'State of Being' was on the processes of layering paint and orienting shapes so that they landed balanced and in right relationship. I used an abundance of glaze, and my main tools were a credit card and palette knife, and bowl scraper. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Petroglyph Figures
    acrylic
Size of Piece: 21 x 27 x 1 Ancient peoples and their activities fascinate me. Using natural elements to record important events in their lives, they carved their stories onto beautiful rock faces, the canvases of the ancients. These hillside Hawaiian petroglyph figures inspired me to paint the rock formations and the dynamic figures, capturing the greys of the stones and the darkness of the stained figures. I try and guess what the stories are telling us. Were they actual events, dreams of things past, or dreams of things to come? Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Spread the Love
    acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas
Size of Piece: 18 x 18 x 1.5 There is never enough love going around. I wanted to emphasize the need to spread the love in this world. This is a series of 3 paintings that can be hung vertically or horizontally, or each as a standalone. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Conflagration
    mixed media, watercolor, acrylic
Size of Piece: 9 x 12 "Conflagration" captures a moment of overwhelming force and profound transformation. Through a turbulent interplay of dark and fiery hues, the painting evokes the raw, chaotic energy of immense destruction, reminiscent of pivotal historical events that forever alter our world. It speaks to the flashpoints where power unleashes devastation, leaving indelible marks on landscapes and collective memory. This work is a visceral reminder of what must "Never Be Forgotten," urging reflection on the consequences of such intensity and the enduring echoes of a past that continues to shape our present. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Whale Bones, #53
    watercolor
Size of Piece: 26 x 26 I have been working on a series of whale bones ever since I visited an abandoned whaling station in Antarctica in 1998. Recently, I had the opportunity to spend a week as an artist resident and work with the Nantucket Whaling Museum. This was one of the new pieces I completed during this time. Whale bones are large and overwhelming and show the majesty of the animal that once lived in them. I hope to honor those whales that are gone with this series. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Assessing II
    oil on panel
Size of Piece: 24 x 20 In portraying individuals at different ages and life stages I also engage themes of temporal change, individual vulnerability and human mortality. This child’s gaze was arresting; at once exploring, engaging and assessing. This drawing is another in a series of portraits that marvel at the magic of the moment and honor the purest of encounters with the with the special little humans in my life. The difficult and satisfying challenge in my portraiture is to portray some unarmed truth and in so doing to suggest our complex humanity and shared experience. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • After He Left
    acrylic on canvas
Size of Piece: 36 x 48 In 2024 I became inspired to paint large. I set up my 1930's old wooden garage to be a summer studio, where I could make as much of a mess as necessary and not be too precious about my strokes. The results are bold expressions of my body movement and my psyche. I respond emotionally to each stroke, shape and color and that connection leads me to the next step. This painting has been painted over many times. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

Size of Piece: 49 x 49 x 2 My new series is focusing on movement and how I sometimes feel as if I am dancing across the canvas as I paint. I have never been a good dancer, but I enjoy movement and appreciate the difficulty of the art form. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Zoo Series - Farm
    hand-made small edition serigraph
Size of Piece: 14 x 14 After graduating from Art school I found I wanted to create work that had meaning to me not just what was the current trend in Art, or what someone else thought Art should be. So I began by creating a series of circle of life drawings that communicated the interconnectedness of life. Using one of these drawings, I created a serigraph, or more commonly known as silkscreen print. I adjust the drawing in photoshop to create a bitmap transparency. The transparency is placed under an emulsion coated screen that is developed so the image makes up the open parts on the screen. Ink is pushed through onto paper. Multiple screens or direct application is used for additional colors. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Sunny Morn
    marbelized paper
Size of Piece: 18 x 12 I stated taking a variety of art classes this year and marbleizing paper was one of these classes. I really enjoyed working with this medium as It is freeing and unique, The final artwork can be quite interesting. It's similar to creating silk scarves. You never know how the final piece will turn out, It can be rewarding and challenging at the same time. I have learned to work with a variety of colors and shapes, and therefore have a better idea of the final artwork. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Bang a Gong
    acrylics on canvas
Size of Piece: 30 x 24 x 1.5 My paintings evolve through layers of impastoed texture. It is always a process of intuitive line and color until a strong cohesive composition evolves as i step back, watching and waiting excitedly as my brush directs me. I love the mystery of the evolution! Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Inside
    charcoal on drawing paper
Size of Piece: 24 x 19 Drawing is at the base of all my artwork. Charcoal is a medium I rarely use but find it is malleable and allows great variety with changing pressure and angle. I made it out of my head in a moment of need to see what the charcoal would say with me. Our rhythms jibed. I found texture and harmony while making this drawing. I named it "Inside" because it feels like an internal, private moment. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Two Worlds
    oil on masonite
Size of Piece: 24 x 36 x 4 Two Worlds required the application of more than two dozen layers of oil paint that I thinned to transparency. Some of the layers were poured, some partially rubbed off, some dripped on the surface with an eye-dropper, and some scratched off with stiff rags. The painting reflects on climate change, and the power of rising seas. The blue-green zone implies ocean water without representing it in an illustrative manner. It suggests an ocean that is alive, but unsafe for humans who might get lost in the tangles. The uneven orange border between the ocean depths and the golden land is a vision of an ever-changing shoreline caused by warming oceans rising over the land. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Abalone Heart
abstract mixed media painting on canvas
Size of Piece: 30 x 30 x 2.25 The ocean delivers gifts of beauty in special ways. This piece is intended to invoke thoughts of unexpected tenderness despite the tumbling, rustling, and tossing in the currents. After being carefully sheltered within a jagged, stone-like exterior, the gentle abalone interior holds a surprising hue. The tender pearlescence displays a myriad of colorful hues, providing proof that beauty can be carefully created and then surrendered from within the center of even the harshest of elements. Abalone Heart reminds us that we are resilient. We will render the product of our worth despite the storms we experience. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Morning in Town
    oil on canvas
Size of Piece: 58 x 40 “Morning in Town” is one of my newest paintings, inspired by my travels through Oriental countries. It’s composed of three joined panels, resembling a door, complete with carved woodwork on the reverse side. I wish I could share more images or a video of how it opens, but I’ve included an Instagram link where you can see it in motion. https://www.instagram.com/p/DGJYGYrRn0r Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Beach
    oil on stitched canvas
Size of Piece: 44 x 33 x 6 The painted constructions emerge as transmutations of my most resounding responses to overcoming the obstacles around and within me. They are not mere representations but transformative expressions borne from profound encounters with people, self-reflection, and the natural world. These works memorialize instances of revelation in the space between observation and understanding—ephemeral moments with a shift in what is valued that would otherwise slip away unrecorded. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Belles of the Ball
    acrylic
Size of Piece: 36 x 36 Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Join the Fight
    charcoal, acrylic, collage on paper
Size of Piece: 24 x 24 x 1.5 Working on a series based on and incorporating letters my father wrote my mother during WW2 while stationed in the Pacific, I created this portrait of my paternal grandmother. In one of his letters, my father said he told his platoon that he had all the pin-up girls he needed; they were pictures of my mother - his girlfriend at the time, his mother, and his neice who was about 4 years old. I created portraits of all three for the series; each with imagery in the background and a slogan reminiscent of pin-up girl posters circa 1944-45 when he served. The two stars represent two of her four sons who served during the War. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Raspberry Sky
    oil on linen
Size of Piece: 24 x 24 x 1.5 Seeing the sky this color out my window. Unusual sunset color. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Shari
    glazed stoneware
Size of Piece: 10 x 4 x 4 I worked with Shari often and liked her. She was a wonderful model. My work often takes off from the inspiration of the model, and it expands from there, but in this instance, I just wanted to be true to her. I hope I have captured her spirit. I heard she had died last year. This piece as a tribute and remembrance.. For the carpet, I used a brushstroke that looks very much like the couching stitch from Medieval times and I think that gave it a nice carpet like quality..I painted her skin tones and makeup with underglazes to be true to her. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Hope Springs Eternal
    alcohol inks on canvas
Size of Piece: 12 x 16 x 1 My alcohol inks on Yupo paper paintings deal with the luminosity of light. They are inspired by a need and my choice to embrace brightness and positivity in the darkness that seems to hover over the entire world like an enormous dark cloud. I use organic shapes that are derived from nature with the intention to lift the spirits of the viewer. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Spirit Guide
acrylic, texture paste, image transfer, & paper collage
Size of Piece: 16 x 16 My narrative mixed media pieces are an intuitive blend of acrylic paint, handmade paper and fabric that give life to my contemporary concepts. Each painting starts with an idea that takes many compositional and decorative turns before I call it complete. The result is an intricate tapestry of visual elements that invites my viewers to explore the many layers of textural detail. In my work, I explore memories and dreams as a way to highlight ideas about the interdependence of humanity and nature. It also reflects life’s changes and our resilience in navigating the ups and downs. I believe we create balance and harmony by being sensitive to our environment and each other. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Resilience Woven Year by Year
    acrylic
Size of Piece: 36 x 36 This mixed-media work layers acrylic, ink, and graphite to create a soft, organic foundation that gradually builds in depth and texture. Image transfers of traditional Palestinian tatreez embroidery are incorporated into the surface, ghost-like imprints that echo ancestral memories. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Gathering
    acrylics
Size of Piece: 24 x 36 x 1.5 Birds go about life in what appears to be total freedom: - freedom of responsibilities - freedom of demands by others, of flying anywhere anytime any place. . And yet, certain species stay gathered together as a unit providing safety: safety in numbers, safety in gathering food, and safety location. This duality is what intrigues me to paint them, for I am a 2-legged bird. in disguise. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • One Fine Day
    acrylic on canvas
Size of Piece: 50 x 30 x 1.75 A post from Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, circa 2020, about Rosa Parks. "She sat down so that we could stand up." I was reflecting on the current political situation in my nation and wrote a short verse to accompany the painting. I wrote as I painted, mulling over the words in this haiku: The ghost of Rosa Implores us to stand and fight For justice and right. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Standing Firm1
    watercolor
Size of Piece: 12 x 9 This watercolor was a sketch that was part of a series of studies and paintings of a sculpture that "spoke to me" at Brookgreen Gardens. in Murrells Inlet, SC. I had visited the NAWA SC Chapter in 2023, and took some photos of some of the sculptures in the gardens. When the chapter secured an exhibition at the Gardens' Rosen Galleries, I decided to explore the bronze sculpture, Circle of Life- part of the 4 Seasons series by Harold "Tuck" Langland, created in 2001. This sculpture shows a yoga pose; my daughter teaches yoga, I have done yoga for decades, and she is now in the south where Spanish moss proliferates. • Andy's Flowers
    acrylic & collage
    Size of Piece: 16 x 24 x .75
Andy Warhol was a leading figure in the Pop Art movement. While identified with NYC, he was born and raised in western PA where he graduated from Carnegie Tech. He left town for NYC and rarely returned. When he graduated, Pittsburgh was full of industrial fog, dust and pollution from steel mills. The American Lung Association released a 2025 air quality report indicating the air quality in the region has not improved since Andy's days. The steel mills still produce pollution and we have added fracking and carbon capture to the mix. Inspired by Andy's flowers I painted similar ones & added an abstract cow as farms are threatened by current contaminations. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Guardian XXVIII
    mixed media on paper
    Size of Piece: 18 x 6 x 6
I am a Columbia, SC based artist, my work is created with strips of recycled paper collected from magazines, flyers and papers found in my daily life. I am intrigued with the colors and textures in everyday printed matter. Coiling is a very tedious and time-consuming process, it takes countless hours to roll enough strips of magazine pages into coils to create anything of substance. Once the coils are made I proceed to manipulating them into the desired shape, dome, cone or tentacle. It is an intuitive and ongoing visual experiment. The time spent creating the pieces is infinitesimal, but the love of what I do removes the burden of it and turns it into drive. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Brainbow
    monotype
    Size of Piece: 22 x 29.5
Yummy colors drove the making of this print and hexagons helped shape its direction. I have usually used the inside patterns in hexagons cut from the inside of security envelopes and used them as collage elements in works like this ,but this particular piece insisted the color flow was enough. I’m happy I listened to that voice! Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Memory and Repair
sculpture relief - porcelain, stoneware, metal
    Size of Piece: 27 x 50 x 2
As a sculptor I am interested in the figure. As an Occupational Therapist I am interested in the repair of the body. This piece shows bodies in repair and the memories of past life. Everyone has memories that they would like to forget or alter in some way to make them more acceptable. I started with the folded porcelain forms, and then created the bodies. Some of the bodies broke in the clay or in the kiln. I decided to keep them instead of throwing them out and started repairing them as I had done in real life as an OT. Composing the elements in a group started to look like a message for life. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • My Side
    oil on canvas
    Size of Piece: 20 x 16 x 1
Light and shadow are fascinating; the colors they contain, the complexity of their value shifts. I strive to have the viewer stop and take the beauty of what often goes unnoticed. Depicting beauty in the everyday, even messy scenes is one of my goals as a painter. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Color Explosion
    powder coated aluminum
    Size of Piece: 9 x 10 x 10
Monet's Flowers, Frank Gherry's Architecture and a passion for the outdoors motivates me to create flowers in an array of sizes and stiles, set on abstract sinuous virtual waves that transport the observer to dream, relax and imagine being uplifted to a place of serenity and joy. I started creating aluminum flowers which when applying a blow torch transformed the aluminum into golden patinas and perforations, and melted petals in an organic way. Incurring into color I powder coat them and explore different color combinations. Trial and error keeps my curiosity and creativity alive. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • After a Rain
    oil
    Size of Piece: 35 x 24
Sorry, I am traveling and can not get the photo named properly. This is a scene viewed through my window. Beautiful colors and quiet mood after a long rain. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Making a Way
    acrylic on canvas board
    Size of Piece: 20 x 16
In this piece, one authentic heart meets a frozen world. "Making a way" speaks to the power of feminine presence. I created this work as an offering and a reminder that aligned creative action can dissolve even the deepest separation. It is about authenticity and integrity that open new dimensions and melt troubles away. It does not matter how tiny we feel; we will persevere as long as our hearts are strong. This girl is little, the world is vast and icy, and many beings are watching her quest. This piece is painted on a canvas board with acrylic paint and markers to create the intense line connecting shapes. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • My Supernova Brain II
monoprint, collage, acrylic, latex, UV pigments on canvas
    Size of Piece: 20 x 16 x 1
I had recently completed an edition of 20 works on paper that combined collagraph, monoprinting, linocut, and collage. The monoprints I created for this became the inspiration for new monoprints that I am collaging onto canvas for a new series of works. Combining newer techniques with more familiar ones have created "Supernova" explosions of creative concepts in my brain, which then expand into my studio with surprising and spontaneous results. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • The Quiet Season
    oil on cradled panel
    Size of Piece: 24 x 24 x 2
A view of modest rental cottages on the North Truro coast of Cape Cod, shuttered in Autumn. In the off-season, visitors are more able to explore the glorious shorelines of the Cape. Sadly, only 12% of the 1,400 miles of Massachusetts coastline is accessible to the public, or 170 miles. This is due to an ordinance from 1647 which extends the private property boundary to the low tide line. The natural beauty and serenity of our coasts should be much more accessible to all.

  • Homage to the Sunsets of the Multiverse
mixed media (acrylic with metallic pigments)
    Size of Piece: 36 x 36
My work is Narrative. It is my communicative instrument that translates the intangible into a visual with shapes, color and forms...using symbolism to convey my message. This image was inspired by watching dragonflies seemingly congregate, at the end of each day, to watch the sunset. Dragonflies are a common spirit animal that represent wisdom and resilience to adapt well to change. So many talk about faith...and yet are still blind to scientific theories (one being the existence of a multiverse!?!). Meanwhile, these dragonflies see what we still cannot. This sci-fi is merging into our known reality & has these creatures worshipping the sunsets of the multiverse.

  • Inyo
    oil on canvas
    Size of Piece: 48 x 80 x 2
Inyo refers to the place of the great spirit, the believer's heart, seen as the creator and sustainer of all things. As artists, we are the creators and sustainers of our creations, representing yin and yang—the two colors coexist yet are separate, representing positive and negative energies. This piece examines the dynamic patterns in an artist's career, specifically the interplay between change and difference. Enjoy a glimpse into mine, and it is the centerpiece for my upcoming solo show at Inyo Solo Rockport Art Association & Museum August 16–September 4, 2025.

  • West End
    acrylic
    Size of Piece: 48 x 36
On a flight out of Ft Lauderdale, I was stunned by the beauty of the Bahamas' West End. Using varying viscosities of acrylic paint, multiple layers were added, scraped through, and manipulated, creating a tactile surface. Transparent layers intertwine with thick impasto structures reminiscent of the carbonite rocks and coral reefs visible in the crystal clear waters of the Atlantic.

  • Tree of Life
    mixed media
    Size of Piece: 48 x 47 x 2
Inspired by the majestic oaks of Brookgreen Gardens’ Live Oak Allée, Tree of Life is a kimono collage that symbolizes endurance, heritage, and interconnectedness. Indigo hues reference the region’s indigo-growing history, while the kimono form, Japanese paper leaves, and repurposed fabric blooms honor both cultural tradition and environmental mindfulness. The tree, crafted from reclaimed denim, draws from the Japanese Boro technique of mending and reuse. Through this fusion of South Carolinian and Japanese elements, the piece reflects Brookgreen Gardens as a living bridge between past and present, nature and culture—a place where beauty and legacy deeply intertwine.

  • Gathering Support
    oil and acrylic on canvas
    Size of Piece: 30 x 20
This painting was inspired by Mark Rothko's layered color washes flooding the atmosphere, plus my added subject matter. This piece, Gathering Support, is part of my Deconstructing Hope series. It is about that feeling of simultaneous joy and relief as inner strength grows. I paint this series to support and inspire viewers in their daily struggle toward their goals. In challenging times it is important to take a moment for a deep cleansing breath and replenishing thoughts.

  • Unstoppable
    oil on canvas
    Size of Piece: 40 x 30 x 1.5

"Unstoppable,” is an oil painting that boldly challenges forces that undermine democratic values and silence marginalized communities fighting for equality. Across Ahern’s over 50-year career in business and the arts, she has fought against the systematic subjugation of women’s voices and independence, refusing to accept the institutional barriers designed to limit women’s power and self-determination.

  • Aphrodite
    oil on canvas, gold leaf
    Size of Piece: 24 x 20 x 2

I conjure intimate dialogues on canvas that speak of who we are—beauties, souls, goddesses, lovers, warriors. I paint to celebrate the magic inside every woman. We are beauties, souls, goddesses, lovers, warriors. I paint to show the magic inside every woman. We shine with grace like Aphrodite—the most beautiful goddess of love—full of softness and light. We also stand strong like a divine warrior, wearing gold helmet and gentle pink gown at the same time, showing that our power comes from being both brave and tender. Sometimes we are a mirror too—my painting with a young woman kissing her reflection reminds us we all want to feel seen and loved. That “love yourself” isn’t just words—it’s a deep hug from your own heart, a way to feel close to others again. My paintings are simple conversations with our souls, celebrating how we are strong and gentle, brave and kind, always beautiful and always real.

  • Beneath the Murmur of the Distant Shores
    fabric
    Size of Piece: 30 x 30 x 1.5

I’m a textile artist who is inspired by the world around me, especially by nature. I look at my surroundings with inquisitive eyes and mind, with curiosity, knowing there are hidden treasures to be found and turned into art.

My artistic approach is mostly intuitive with a constant awareness of color combination and contrast. The use of strong colors is a direct influence of my Brazilian heritage. Using fabric as the medium to create my art pieces was a natural choice since I have been working with it from my teenage years.

My creative process can be described in two phases. The first one is the combination of inspiration and visualization of an art piece. The second phase is transforming what I visualized into actual artwork. It requires selecting fabrics as close as possible to my vision, adjusting, and sometimes, starting all over again.

  • Racing the Big Sandy

Rives Bfk,watercolor pencil, neocolor2, varnish, Cradled wood panel

    Size of Piece: 30 x 30 x 1.5

A few years back while visiting my brother and sister-in -law in New York, we took the train out to Belmont Park to watch the horse race. Although I often draw wild horses, I had never before experienced the energy of a live thoroughbred race. The horses, with their graceful yet powerful bodies, rumbled past the stands in a blur of color as their jockeys urged them on. I took many photographs that day ,and I continue to create drawings inspired by that experience. This piece, “Racing the Big Sandy, refers to the local nickname for Belmont Racetrack, and captures the trillI felt watching the racers thunder past.

I created this drawing using watercolor pencils and Neocolor 2 on Rives Bfk paper adhered to and varnished on a cradled wood panel.
