Where the quiet begins to speak
acrylic on canvas with mixed media on canvas in a floating frame
12 x 12

As women we are taught to be quiet, until now when we must speak up. In a culture that still rewards polished images and fast takes, I’m drawn to making work that honors the in-between—the pauses, the rewrites, the moments when you’re quietly becoming someone new. This painting is part of that exploration: layered, imperfect, and emotionally honest. Beneath soft veils of color and scattered marks, a quiet rhythm gathers courage until the hidden voices of memory rise together and begin to speak. Small bursts of unexpected color build on one another like layers of memory, each mark a gesture of release rather than control. Scribbled lines trace the edges of thoughts that never quite became words, while delicate textures hint at stories just beneath the surface. This is one of two in a series, Unfolding Memories.
