Mareshet is a Surrealist painter originally from Philadelphia. Her inspiration for capturing the details of distinctive brick walls, storefronts, and graffiti in Philadelphia neighborhoods comes from her desire to reconnect to her city roots. Her artworks in oil are technical and less imaginary compared to her works in acyclic, also known as her passion pieces. They consist of dream-like scenes that evoke narrative renderings of new perspectives found after heartache. Both mediums and styles play a significant role in telling a complex or straightforward story. Mareshet focuses on capturing the presence of nature, its changing seasons, inorganic elements, such as metal structures, and its stillness in connection with mankind’s curiosity. She has studied using other mediums such as alkyd, mixed media, and charcoal and currently uses the direct painting method and Grisaille technique to complete her works.
