Summer Bouquet

These flowers from my daughter’s friends were such a bright and happy memento from a perfect May morning that I wanted to paint them to memorialize a day of graduating and celebrating. The multi-colored bouquet makes me think of a living rainbow, or flower fireworks. I used a combination of brush and palette knife, to create a thick impasto for the central yellow focus flower, and to show the solidity of the jar holding the bouquet.
