Global Series is meant as a gentle reminder that humanity is not separate from nature but a part of it. In Bear Hugs, polar bears are portrayed in a circular format to represent life on Earth and a loving embrace. The red dot represents the Sun, warmth and the need to stop and consider the effect humanity has on the natural world.
This is a diptych of serigraphs so the pricing is for the pair.
Serigraphy, commonly known as silkscreen printing, is the hand-made printmaking mode. The most important part of the process for Zimmerman is making great drawings. She understands this and creates her drawings, not only as works of art on their own, but thinking about how they will translate into serigraphs. Her thoughtful use of the white of the paper, her textured shading and her attention to the negative space are all essential in her drawings and her silkscreens.
