In this painting, I used a calligraphic style of mark-making to explore the rhythm of a waterfall and its movement down a luxurious glen. The water ripples and splashes on its way to shoot forth in a glorious spray over the edge. Its vibrancy is echoed in the surrounding landscape. I used a tall, thin format to enhance the elegance of the waterfall, with rocks and ledges adding shape and structure to the water’s journey.
