The One
8.5 x 6″
acrylic, glass

This work is constructed from broken glass, fragments of a shattered plate, acrylic paint, and mixed media materials. The use of fractured elements reflects the way relationships are formed through shared experiences, moments of joy, heartbreak, celebration, loss, and renewal.

We spend much of our lives searching for “the one”: the perfect companion, the great love, the person who will understand us completely. Yet often, the people who carry us through life’s changing seasons are already beside us.

Two figures emerge from layers of fragments and connection, symbolizing friendships that endure. Unlike many relationships that shift with circumstance, true friendship adapts, forgives, remembers, and remains. It witnesses our stories, holds our memories, and walks beside us through the many versions of ourselves we become.

This piece is a reflection on a form of love that is often overlooked because it is not romanticized. It asks whether the “one” we have been searching for may have been there all along.
