Petites Joies

October 21 – December 31

  • Oil on canvas 10 x 10 in. w/frame 10.5 x 10.5 in. I have long been fascinated with painting water in all it’s variations. I love the power and incredible colors present in the churning ocean as well as the quieter moods of a calm pond or the rushing of a stream over rocks. Recently, I got a dog who loves the water. I spend a lot of time with her and her dog friends at the beach or a pond. So it wasn’t much of a leap to want to try my hand at representing the joy of these ‘water dogs.” It’s a rich source of reference material watching these dogs being crazy, goofy and so very happy as they race play in the water or swim for balls and sticks. This painting is part of a series of dogs and water I am currently working on — the best of two things that I love!   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Acrylic on canvas 10 x 10 in. w/frame 11.5 x 11.5 in. My work is about finding connections through shared places and experiences. I see beauty in the ordinary. I find inspiration from roadside relics, abandoned alleyways and everyday objects. Often overlooked or forgotten, these scenes have stories to tell.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Color pencil on RivesBfk varnished on wood panel 12 x 12 in. The bears are part of an ongoing series. The energy of the pencil marks and the vibrant colors combine to create an engaging effect, reflecting the spirit of this exhibit and the joy of the holiday season.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Soft Pastel-mixed media-on Arches Paper 9.75 x 6.5 in. w/ frame 15 x 12 in. Color Language- RED says excitement, passion, warmth. It's playful, full of vigorous energy. Watch out for these 2 buddies-they are the life of the party. ORANGE is succulence, molten lave, gold, religious, everlasting, charmable, arousal! Process - All Expression!   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Photography 7 x 5 in. w/frame 12 x 10 in. As a photographer, spending time in nature’s wildlife habitats can result in either missed opportunities or getting a perfect image. The morning I visited Donnelly Wildlife Preserve, I hoped to photograph marsh birds along the water’s edge. As I drove along a dyke, I saw a unique shaped branch shooting out of the pond that would make a good landing spot for avian subjects. I set-up my tripod and camera, with 500mm lens, to aim just at the top of the branch. Then I chose my camera settings so I would be ready to snap a photo if a bird landed there. I was ecstatic when, about 30 minutes later, a Belted Kingfisher perched on the branch. I often hear Kingfishers when out near marshes, but is difficult to see them; and photographing one is even more so. Capturing this photo made my day.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Watercolor 8.5 x 5.5 in. "Paix et amour" is inspired by a splattering of paint that stains the 2nd floor of Providence City Hall.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • Photograph 12 x 12 in. For years our family has gone to Hill Top Orchards in Richmond. This year there was a chill in the air. The apples were everywhere. Some fell on the ground. I picked them up and felt that this was worth an image!   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Photography (4-color) 11 x 11 in. w/frame 12 x 12 in. The fall is a favorite time of year to travel to nearby Jerome, Arizona, a booming copper-mining town incorporated in 1899. House of Joy is a delightful spot to visit with its antique curiosities that are so lovingly displayed in their window. We enjoy visiting this former ghost town, especially on Halloween and Christmas.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Acrylic on birch board 12 x 12 in. Uneven paths taken during walks in woods is the inspiration or the work. I chose different mediums to give the sensory experience of the walk. Molding paste texture represent the ground and pieces of cheesecloth are the tree trunks. I find fluid flowers and a rubber frog in sunny places, the latter left behind after tripping because the human wore improper shoes. The flowers and shoed feet are on raised surfaces and the rubber frog was found on a walk.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.

  • Platinum/palladium photograph 8 x 10 in. In my art work, I capture the simple beauty in the natural environment, providing moments of serenity. I use water and light as beautiful threads that draw the eye in. The quality of light is of paramount importance, defining the textures and forms in nature, and patterns of light and shadow. I contact printed the image using the platinum/palladium printing process to capture a softer, painterly effect, evoking late 19th century idyllic landscapes and lending a poetic quality to the image.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Painting on rice paper with ink and Japanese color 5.5 x 11 in. This work was inspired by the awesome power of nature surrounding Matsu Shims.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Carved pink alabaster 5 x 8 x 12 in. This small stone depicts a sweet moment in my life when I redirected my journey as a person, and started to truly immerse myself in my thoughts, desires and surroundings. I am shown half submerged, relaxing into the warmth of the vessel's water. The oyster refers to the sensual side of being a woman- luxuriating in a salty ancient essence. The choice of revealing a female form from the ancient material of alabaster was apropos. It was exciting to see the form slowly appear, yet relaxing as well. The mood of the subject and the approach in sculpting it are in synch.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Hand-formed porcelain sculpture with an opal 7 x 6.5 x 3.5 in. I hand-form all of my porcelain nature-themed sculptures. I often create abstract or approach realism in my forms. I have always been drawn to flower forms and this is an example. I recently began embedding gemstones to some works to add an element of visual surprise. I chose a fiery opal for this which recalls a tiny water drop on the tip of a petal.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Oil on canvas 6 x 6 in. Just something a little bit fun!   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Photograph on metal 12 x 12 in. I am fascinated by hummingbirds. They are so beautiful and are an amazing site to behold. To watch them take long drinks while dispensing the energy it takes to hover over their nourishment.is a wonder in itself. I had set up my camera, tripod and plenty of nectar, and photographed trying to capture their little bodies without blurring their beauty. With the red feeder and contrast of the bird, I knew I wanted the print to be on glossy metal. Hopefully, the viewer can feel the energy of this tiny creature.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Oil, cold wax on wood panel 7.5 x 6.5 in. Through writings and bold marks traveling in and out of the layers of oil and cold wax, Asheville artist Cindy Walton captures action, energy and quiet musings of nature in her paintings. The surfaces are layered with paint to create depth and texture. As the layers are built, Cindy incises the surface with sharp-edged tools and large sticks of oil paint.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Oil on linen 10 x 10 in. Santa Barbara is my home, and I'm endlessly inspired by its beauty. Stella Mares is a restaurant in Santa Barbara, and its serenity caught my eye.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Fused Glass using different glass compounds 12 x 10 in. w/ frame 12 x 10.5 in. This body of glass artwork depicts my personal journey of exploration of kiln-forming glass techniques over the years and bringing to life other facets of my art into glass with my live model sketches. Over the years I have been studying different glass techniques, and at the same time sketching live models. My goal was to have the live models as glass art pieces. Learning enamel drawing and experimenting with powders to form different tones has enabled me to do just that. The pieces are layered glass with backgrounds using various glass powders and stenciling. This combination reflects drawing skills with kiln-forming glass.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Monotype 12 x 9 in. Sandpaper, cheesecloth and tape are just some of the materials I use to make shapes and ink up to print on BFK paper. I love the unplanned and unexpected surprises in printmaking using these materials.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Bronze 6 x 3 x 2.5 in. This joyful piece was created after seeing this little girl in her own world of happiness catching the raindrops falling. It reminded me of the simple pleasures of life we have all felt.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Oil on linen board 8 x 10 in. I grew up in Virginia and still feel drawn to the timelessness of farmland and historic places. My foxhunting scenes are taken from my firsthand, real-life observation, and they tell a story about the world of horses and their people. My landscapes celebrate the mood and mystery of wildlife in their natural habitat. I always strive to render these “stories” through my unique color palette and compelling brushwork – two features that I believe set my work apart.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Steel and aluminum sculpture 10 x 8 x 2 in. This small wall sculptures from my Labyrinth series shows the playful side of life, like a child having fun simply by playing. This steel piece leads the eye through a twisting path to a small figure—hanging upside down, in a funny pose. The shadows it casts add a magical dimension. This work remind us that joy can come from life’s surprises and seeing things in a different way. • Digitally manipulated photography 10 x 8 in. I enjoy capturing a moment, in this case an unexpected charge, which added 'ecstatic' humor to an enjoyable exchange at the farmers' market. By manipulating the filter to black & white, the contrast emits an energy that draws in the viewer.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Photogravure 6.5 x 8.25 in. w/frame 11.25 x 11.25 in. I am intrigued by the way our hands express our authentic selves. I photographed the women in my family, holding small but suggestive objects, this is my sister Liz, holding a root, I dug up from my garden and cleaned. She holds it tenderly, my heart in her hands. The process is photogravure, a painstaking but beautiful process of turning a photograph into an etching. I have this print, an edition of 3, framed and unframed.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Watercolor on rag paper 12 x 8.75 in. For me, inspiration comes from ideas about how the universe works. Nikola Tesla said, “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” Combining preparation and planning with spontaneous, intuitive action I am on an experimental journey with watercolor to examine the natural world. My previous work was in oil, acrylic or pastel. Watercolor enables radiance with layers of transparency clearly showing the immediacy of the medium laid out over the underlying organized structure of the composition. The thought-provoking question of our reality is apparent in the ethereal nature of art where images vibrate with intensity of color and emotion and offer much more than the visual, something beyond the surface .   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Oil on canvas applied with palette knife 9 x 12 in. The natural world has always been the driving force behind my creative work. Each piece is an attempt to express the energies and rhythms of the life around us. These are the sparks that tart the process. I frequently use muted colors - brown, black and grey to emphasize the repeated patterns and textures in nature. My paintings are created working wet on wet using a palette knife. My textured stoneware sculptures re left natural t let the beauty of the materials enrich the work.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Acrylic on canvas 12 x 12 in. It was a perfect day.. I watched the sun come up over the water and glow brighter until it obliterated everything. I tried to capture that joy by layering levels of paint to make my canvas glow from within.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Digital Archival Photograph Sublimated to Aluminum 12 x 12 in. I am passionate about photography as an art form. In a world overfull with images, ideas, and messages streaming at warp speed, there's profound value in the thoughtfulness, the provocation, the silent aesthetic, the power of an image made with the vision and ever evolving techniques of fine art photography.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Acrylic, ink, graphite, thread and image transfer 8 x 8 in. Small Joys, Deep Roots captures the deep connection between heritage and everyday moments of joy. Using acrylic, ink, graphite, thread, and an image transfer of part of a traditional cross-stitch pattern, this piece blends tradition with contemporary abstract expression. The layered embroidery and mixed media celebrate the richness of small, meaningful experiences, inviting viewers to explore the intricate threads of history and personal joy.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Ebony Pencil on Cream Wove Paper 12 x 11 in. Many people save these small paper "drink" umbrellas as momentos of a special moment in their lives. They bring back fond memories of where we were, who we were with, and precious moments shared with others. They are memory prompts.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Watercolor 9 x 12 in. w/frame 11 x 14 in. Aside from being an accomplished Architect, [the Member] is also a Visual Artist, creating paintings [oil and watercolor], monotypes, and photographs. Her paintings aim to capture the “genius loci,” or essential nature of the place, of key Architectural works. Those explorations have, in turn, assisted with her professional design work. She uses her own photographs as the basis for paintings. Therefore, her passion is travel, and learning about new countries, cities, towns, and landscapes through this artistic endeavor! The paintings submitted for this exhibition portray distinct spaces -- large areas where the built environment is perfectly in sync with the natural world.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Linocut 12 x 12 in. Every year for the past 30 years my family travels to St. John VI . It is a place we have enjoyed year after year. Of course one of my favorite things to do is just sit on a lounge chair -with a pina colada and look out at the beautiful water. I created this print by carving the image into two plates inking them and registering the plates to create one image, they were printed using my press.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Acrylic and mixed media on panel 6 x 6 in. w/ frame 8 x 8 in. I work very intuitively. In combination with various techniques, materials and colors, I create a lot of texture. The texture implies the ups and downs in life, bright colors enhance the happy moments in life. The viewer has the freedom to interpret and perceive my painting according to their feelings, memories, and inspirations.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Colored pencil on Stonehenge Fine Art Paper 5 x 5 in. In my garden, I grow the inspirations that I bring to the studio. Working up close to the flowers while tending and weeding them offers me the opportunity to enjoy the delicate details of each flower. This is what I work to recreate in my studio allowing viewers to experience the wonder and complexity of the natural world up close, even in an indoor setting. Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Acrylic ib Cradked Panel 8 x 8 in. Pebble Beach represents a special place for me and my kids. When they were young, we would walk down to the bank of the Eagle River near our home in Colorado. Loaded with small rocks from the spring runoff, we would have throwing contests with the stones to see who could get the most "skips" across the river. I always smile when I remember those lazy summer days with my young children and the joy in their smiles.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Acrylic gels, acrylics on canvas 8 x 10 in. This painting is from a series I called Kells, which refers back to medieval times and myths. It’s a time of magic with the uneasy feeling of spirits swirling around in the ether. To enhance these feeling, I’ve used many textured gels and rhythmic curved lines.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Acrylic on canvas 9 x 12 in. This painting is characteristically austere and rustic. It depicted peppers of singular beauty with their own organic and sensuous rhythms.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Acrylic, Gouache, & Colored Pencil on Paper 5.5 x 8.5 in. The Gates is an exploration of life beyond the physical senses, inviting viewers to consider an ethereal realm where the boundaries between the known and the unseen blur. Through swirling colors and intricate textures, the painting presents a vision of transcendence. At the heart of the composition is an angelic figure, bathed in soft light, symbolizing the connection between the physical and spiritual planes. The wrought-iron gates in the foreground serve as both a literal and metaphorical threshold, suggesting a passage from the material world into realms of deeper consciousness. The sky, filled with fiery reds and tranquil blues, evokes a universe brimming with unseen energies. This piece reflects a fascination with metaphysical themes, encouraging viewers to reflect on the possibility of realities that lie beyond what we can immediately perceive..   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Mild steel, copper, vitreous enamel, powdercoat 11 x 9 x 7 in. I have been exploring the process of creating micro welded steel objects and combining with enamelled copper pieces and powder coated wire forms. ‘Flower bird’ appeared as I played with creating small natural shapes. Flowerbird loudly demanded a tail that expressed a joyful heart and playful spirit. Light and shadow play through the body of Flowerbird.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Sterling silver on prepared paper 12 x 9 in. Crinum lilies ’queens of the forest’, suddenly send up their spikes and flower, fragrantly and elegantly, in late summer. Their sculptural form and grace seem to lend themselves to silverpoint, a medium which in any case has traditionally been used for botanical studies.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Oil on wood panel 10 x 8 in. w/ frame 11.5 x 9.5 in. Love Night scenes with lights and reflections. I was compelled to paint a holiday scene as the season comes closer! love this time of year! Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Paint, Print, Paper, Fiber on Arches Paper 9 x 12 in. I'm an award-winning abstract artist who has worked in many disciplines during the course of a 35+year career. My current passions are creating textile artworks and/or mixed media collage. "No More Hanky Panky" is a combination of paint, print, paper and fiber. The fiber being a bit of yarn and pretty lace fabric cut-up from old underwear. I often use recycled materials in many of my artworks. A patron recently stated..." The depth of her life experiences is unmistakable in her art. I visited her website and was both delighted and moved. Each piece or series of pieces is visually distinctive, but no matter what medium she employs, there is a consistent richness of texture, vibrancy of color and fluidity of shape... a most prolific artist..."   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Archival watercolor pigments on 300lb Arches paper 6 x 3 in. w/frame 10 x 8 in. I often have little thought of what I am painting until the first few marks appear on the paper. My subconscious plays a huge part in my work. I really had no idea where this image was going as I created it; I just had a sense of loneliness and isolation and finality, which is reflected in the title.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
  • Pastel on sanded paper 8 x 8 in. I have been painting impressionistic images of sea, sky and land and decided last winter to try something I had done in art school. Dividing up space by lines and values. I started in pastel and it was so exciting especially when I chose vivid colors. I now also do them in oil. I use the palette from the pastel and am able to do layers with some sort of a plan even though I have to wait between each layer.   Additional shipping/delivery charges will be handled between the artist and buyer after the purchase.
