Eileen Schreiber
May 5, 1925 – d. May 9, 2016
Eileen Schreiber was a beloved life member of NAWA, serving as a chairman of works on paper for twelve years. A prominent artist in water colors, acrylic, mixed media and collage, as well as in printmaking, her work reflects her life and the subjects she created were influenced by her youth in Utah, her home in Long Beach Island, and her life in New Jersey. At the age of eighty, she moved to Egg Harbor Township.
Her early life was spent in Salt Lake City, Utah where she met her husband Jonas Schreiber at a USO dance during WWII. After 34 missions, he returned to Utah where they married. After the war, they lived in West Orange, NJ, where she had three children. Her education included University of Utah for three years, five years in printmaking at Montclair State College and one year of printmaking at New York University, with Krishna Reddy, a well known printmaker.
This accomplished artist had fourteen one-woman shows in New Jersey and throughout New York City. Her work is in collections of Johnson and Johnson, IBM, Harvard, Barclay Bank of England, just to name a few. She was a founding member of Temple Israel of South Orange, NJ.
