Thank goodness for the first snow. It’s a reminder no matter how old you became and how much you’ve seen things could still be new if you were willing to believe they still mattered. (Candace Bushnell)
I came across this quote recently and it got me to thinking how, even in the dead silence of winter, new inspirations, new projects can still take flight. Every winter is a time for renewal. Every issue of NAWA NOW carries that promise for us. Our NAWA members never cease to surprise us with their words and images that we love sharing with you. –Sandra Bertrand
NAWA member Linh Vivace found a pathway to Lexington, Kentucky where an amazing group of women managed to erect a huge 20 foot monument to women in their town plaza. Just in time for women’s month in March, the U.S. Mint is distributing quarters with the face of poet Maya Angelou – and she’s just the first of other remarkable women to line our change purses. You can read about the new book celebrating Fern Coppedge, an early twentieth century NAWA supporter who just may be America’s greatest landscape painter. And there’s so many others to salute in our Red Carpet and Shout Out sections. NAWA’s current and upcoming online and in person exhibits will insure 2022 will be a special year for all of us. So, sit back with your beverage of choice and enjoy the journey with a community of committed and caring artists – your community.
