Jill BarattaHi all, and a belated Happy New Year!

According to Larry David, there is a statute of limitations on how far into a new year you can keep saying Happy New Year, so Happy Winter!  And, Happy NAWA Year 133!!

The NAWA office – Christie, Emma and I, with lots of guidance from our dear VP Susan Hammond, have been working hard to update and reclaim our processes and programs in pandemic-world, even though we have continued uninterrupted with online exhibitions, an Annual, paying the rent, and everything else. We have caught up with a lot of loose ends that fell in the cracks in 2020/21, so, hope to be ever more up to speed soon. We are very excited also to welcome our new bookkeeper, Michelle.

We recently purchased a program to better integrate our member database, as NAWA needed to come more fully into the 21st century. Certain members still need snail mail, and we are slowly getting back to them, as well (like snails?).  The database program will be coming to fruition soon, so more updates will be forthcoming. We just signed; it will take time to migrate our data, and get used to this, so please bear with us.

I want to thank our committee chairs, Joanna Biondollilo, Mary Ahern, and Elena Zelenina, for all their efforts in Exhibitions, Public Relations, and Membership, respectively. They work hard on behalf of the members, and their volunteer time and efforts are, and should be appreciated by all!

Thank goodness also, for Emma Seely-Katz, our wonderful office manager, who is there for us Tuesday through Friday from 9:30 to 5:30. She does an amazing job, both as receptionist, digital coordinator, and overall communications expert. She loves bagels and borscht, I’ve learned, so now I know how to nurture her with food. I like coffee… Christie now drinks it again, too, since I introduced her to Nutpods and our new (donated) Keurig machine in the office (please come for coffee, but call first!).

NAWA marches on, into our 133rd year, and we are working very hard to do all these things for the members, for Women Artists’ place in the world, and with, and for YOU. Please consider how you might step up and help us with our mission, regardless of where in the USA you are – if you are a member, or not there are many ways to be helpful, both financially and otherwise. We love to hear from you one way or another!

Onward!
