Out of the Cold Blue Winter
linocut print on washi paper
10 x 8
This print was completed in May of 2026, but this series was started in 2021, when the pandemic was still less under control. This particular print was left with blue ink only, until I completed the remaining colors recently. The inspiration was that the winter had been very difficult, and it was even more relief than usual to see the daffodils come out- the hope of Spring. Some of the prints left the grasses blue to emphasize the “blues” of winter and the contrast of the welcoming and warming, dancing yellow flower heads emerging as we all did from the cold blue winter. With the hardships continuing in so many ways, perhaps these images can bring hope to sore eyes.
