The Mermaid

This piece depicts an alluring mermaid sitting on a rock at sea.
Made of a wood art board, paper decoupage, polymer clay, acrylic paints, Swarovski crystals, and sealed with matte polyurethane. The artist created unique images, including background decoupage paper, using text-to-image AI. Images were printed onto water soluble paper using a laser jet printer, then transferred to polymer clay. After washing away the paper, images were cut out using an Xacto knife, then baked. Clay images were hand painted after baking for enhancement. The wood art board was covered on all visible sides in the artist-designed decoupage paper.
Artist considers herself a storyteller and uses symbolism in her art. Unique style is a blend of Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Medieval, Contemporary, and Mexican folk art. One of only a few exhibiting polymer clay & mixed media artists to use a similar distinctive technique. Her art is her legacy, and she wishes to leave a positive legacy.
