This cluster of magnolia blossoms originated from trees at Huntington Gardens. I love the soft, muted palette of the petals with the burst of orange-red at the center. The tangle of branches with so many stages of blooms gave me a real compositional challenge. I tried to convey that profusion while keeping the eye anchored on that one fully open flower.
