Hot Nights, Bright Lights: Pool 1
oil on canvas
24 x 24
Much of my work explores the transformative effect of light on the ordinary. This nocturne plays off the idea of “reflection,” evoking the nostalgia of swimming on warm summer nights. Bright, scattered lights shimmer across the pool’s surface, mirrored through water-blurred vision, where perception softens and shifts.
The perspective bends as if seen through the eyes of a child suspended at the surface, where even a small pool expands into something vast, mysterious, and immersive. Angles double, textures ripple, and light fragments into a dreamlike interplay of color and motion.
In this space between clarity and distortion, memory and sensation merge—creating a quiet, luminous fantasy that captures the fleeting magic of a night swim.
