As a multimedia artist living in Brewster Massachusetts, I draw freely from all the various disciplines of art. Using a computer as both a tool and a collaborator, I layer my original photographs, textures, and drawings together in Photoshop. These separate elements often combine in surprising ways. Working intuitively, I allow for mystery and unpredictability to dictate where the process leads.
Living on Cape Cod, I am dazzled by the many moods of the ocean. Perhaps the most spectacular is the power of a storm. To capture my impressions of the drama, I begin with a large paintbrush and black ink. I imagine waves pounding the shore as I splash the ink across the paper. These images are scanned into my computer and arranged in layers one over another using Photoshop. Additional layers of color are added until I feel I have captured the spirit, power and essence of a wave.
