“Hanging Out” is an example of the collaboration between the artist and the work that often happens if the artist takes the time to listen. This piece began as a collage of a western landscape, but slowly a different image began to emerge. Initially the artist saw a torso similar to a headless Degas ballerina, then a sleeveless jump suit appeared that clearly was in need of a hanger.
