Experiencing the vast rural spaces of unexplored lands of the Burren, County Clare, Ireland, I climbed upon the rocky limestone land, formed of great slabs of rock that were once the sea bed of an ocean millions of years ago. Dotted throughout that rocky surface I found ancient Neolithic monuments like the Poulnabrone Dolmen, one of Ireland’s most iconic and oldest dated megalithic archeological monuments, a portal tomb consisting of two large vertical stones standing on either side of an entrance capped with a massive sloping capstone.
