I created this piece in a studio session with a live model, which is a favorite way to work, with a breathing person in front of you for only a short while. Watercolor is my primary medium, which enables a quickness and practiced looseness to capture an impression of the subject before me. I wanted to express the boldness of the somewhat relaxed pose. This women is determined not to be a victim and to make her own choices.
