The idea of one’s guardian is near and dear to me. I am comforted by the notion that there is someone or something that keeps an eye out for all of us and keeps us from harm. I often refer to these guardians as the “grandmothers”, emanating from our female relatives and ancestors who came before us and acting as a collective blanket of safety. Collaged from old textiles and other bits of my own papers and canvas. The edges are embellished with intricate designs inspired by Slavic Pysanky eggs.
