Give and Take
thread, watercolor paper, and foam board
15 x 24

My work draws on the rich histories of domestic customs and textile art, challenging the boundaries between fine art and craft, and celebrates embroidery as a powerful, expressive medium. Using color, geometry, and layered threads, I build compositions that invite close, intimate engagement. As light and perspective shift, the work subtly changes, encouraging moments of pause, reflection, and discovery. I focus on everyday thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and seek to create work that feels comforting and familiar.

“Give and Take” came from noticing how often I try to show up for others, and how I am still learning to let others show up for me too. It’s about that quiet balance, wanting to give freely, but also realizing it’s okay to receive without feeling guilty. This piece holds that in-between space, where I am figuring out how to do both.
